I met John Singleton in 1995, and I can concur that he was a really nice human being to interact with. I've seen many descriptions of him in online eulogies, and a similar word pops up: real. He was that and then some, as that was the first word that came to mind when I tried to describe him. Thanks for sharing your JS moment with us.

This was an amazing tribute. Not only did it touch On John Singleton’s talent but it also showed what an amazing human he is. I lost my sister about four years ago and the most amazing thing we get is when people tell stories about my wonderful sister. I am 100% sure John Singleton’s family absolutely will adore this video. There is no better gift and sharing stories with people we love who had passed away. Excellent work.

14th! Boyz in the Hood changed the way I viewed the world when I first saw it. Small farming town boy thinking that I was a super bad ass.. well, after watching that movie, I changed my viewpoint. It was / is a fantastic film.

What a heartfelt and beautiful tribute. It demonstrates in life you never know who you will meet and influence along your way so radiate kindness not hate or I am "better/more important" than you. John Singleton interacted with you as a equal fellow human with a shared interest in that moment in time, you obviously impacted on him for him to remmber you many years, later. Your whole ethos, manner in which you interact with fans demonstrates that joint respect it is lovely to watch. I would add to those who for want of better words "stalk/encroach" on time when your with your family or just trying to get in with your job show respect back and give some space. I watch from UK, I would love to meet Casey, I doubt that will ever happen as mainly house confined but if opportunity arose and he was with his family my needs are second family comes first and I would not approach out of respect... Different if children adults but how scary for little ones having all these big people wanting their dads attention. So lovely a tribute to a legend for a equally lovely person and thoughts with John's family and friends the pain hurts so bad and does not leave but in time you learn to live with it it becomes a part of you. I know as half my family died last year including parents and this year father in law and sister within 3days of each other with first anniversary of mums death in the middle... A hard week but if there is something there once you die maybe they got together and went well better one gard week than spaced out... Plus last year we gave her a death every 2 months so give her a break.. Got to find positive side some how.

I met John Singleton at a screening of Rosewood at the AFI. He was super nice and friendly but I was a little nervous talking to him due to the awe factor. I asked him what he was working on next and he told me about Shaft. It is a fond memory of a great artist

Bro this video was refreshing to watch. John Singleton was a person who inspired me after watching Boyz in the Hood (which is one of my favorite movie) because although I didn’t grow up in South Central but in East St Louis where I’m originally from had those same type streets and his movies inspired me to want to work hard to “Make It Out” as a young black man. John Singleton thanks for the movies you made that spoke truth and was relatable and teachable to young minds like mine so I can live on through your legacy you laid down.
