My dad's cousin Dale Sledd started there, later played guitar with the Osborne brothers and won CMA award for single of the year "Rocky Top" with the Osborne brothers, Dale and Patsy Married and went on tv on the Hee Haw show. Patsy Sledd became a close runner up to Tammy Wynett. What great talent there was at lee's opry back in the early 60's

My dad, Loyd Dinwiddie was a schoolmate with Lee. My dad laid the block for the opry house and the brick for Lee's house and the trim for his pool which was shaped like a bass fiddle.

True... I can remember vacationing there twice as a kid and seeing the Opry both times. I used to play the album over and over. Just a fun entertaining memory. And yes, family was from the Chicago area like Lee said.

In the 60’s, they played their show on the tv station from Jeff city. We lived in central Missouri, and watched the show weekly. In the 70’s, went to the live show at Osage beach. Always enjoyed their music.

Loved that show. One of my buddies worked there as an usher. Used to hang out with him so I could watch the show.

Saw this show about 45 yrs ago when they were traveling around southern Illinois. My wife would not tell me where we were all going as I didn't care for country music. After that show my opinion changed. Now my wife hates the idea she made me go.

I have a neat little book titled "Ozark Opry." It is kind of a mint green color and has a lot of cool pictures in it. The back page is signed by Lee Mace, Patsy Randolph, Dale Sledd, Bob McCoy, Don Russell, Bashful Bob, Dillard Stamper, and I can't quite figure out the last signature. Looks like first name ends in yh and last name starts with a p.
