We should show our pride in him by following his path: as long as we leave our good leaders alone, our colonial enemies will have it easy in getting rid of them: from Lumumba, to Sankara and then Gaddafi and this year Magufuli of Tanzania, who wasn't willing to sell his people out to the covid circus like most of our "leaders" did.
The best leader in "post" colonial Africa. Sadly left alone by all other leaders and betrayed by his "best friend", who sold him out to the evil colonial forces. One of my greatest heroes and role models, my son is named after him.
@@musamusashi its leader, he made Botswana like, one of the best african nations Believe me, sankara was really good leader, not trying to downgrade him
Why are you expecting to be thought of great leaders in history books while as African you are not writing your own history! The so called white although they are actually not will never teach you that.
@@beniyamredaezgi7516 of course and fight to dismantle the systems of oppression that underdeveloped Africa and the rest of the global south to begin with
@@kamo9882 LOL......... Don't kill me with laughter hahaha. Carl Miller is a fake name I use online, my coworker was standing in front of me so I used his real name. I'm from Sierra Leone, I had an arab name so I changed it to an African cartoon characters name and Sankara as my middle name. I'm a proud Pan Africanist and really proud of my new name.
@@averyj5446 That’s a wonderful aspiration. May God give you the strength to accomplish it. We will send members of our team to visit your library and put in books about Sankara. So please keep us updated as you go on with this dream. Stay blessed.
I wish Blaise Compaoré never betrayed his people. I wish Capitaine Isidore Thomas Sankara was not killed. I wish Burkina Faso-- The Land Of The Upright Men--- Thomas Sankara. Burkinabe is need of Thomas Sankara. Vraiment Burkina Faso est un pays en besoin de Capitaine Thomas Sankara. Long live Sankara! Vive Sankara! On ne vous oubliera jamais ! You're Forever In Our hearts And Minds!
This man was a tbrough leader ! He always care bout his people well being . He has renonced to all the privileges kf his rang: travel wut normal airline., no expensive cars .... i recall his visit to yde it was amazing : all the shops of central markets were closed bh the owners to gk and welcome a through african soil. None has ever received such hinors in Cameroon :that day i new it will not continue for a long time because we wrote a lot of hebdomadaires expressing unhappiness of europeans and african aparchics . As usual you need traitor to execute unamed agenda : Miterand and Felix Houphouet Boigny agreed on exexution and blaise kompaore did the job. One day one day he will pay for that crime. And as weaked one will never remembered May the almughty grant africa many leader like him
This should teach all readers mostly in Africa that what ever u do good or wrong, it is written on yo shoulders,RIP COMRADE THOMAS SANKARA it's about 34yrs since u was murdered but we still remember the great things u did for yo nation,we lost the pan-Africanist.😭😭😭
@@daniboy577 perhaps funded by western countries, but ultimately it's we the African who have been betraying our own people since the beginning of post colonial Africa. It's our fellow African who betrayed Dr.nkrumah, Olympio, Marien N'gouabi, the list sadly is very long. Ce sont les africains eux-mêmes qui sont ultimement responsables de ces douloureux événements.
He sounded like a man with compassion, vision, integrity, and very wise well beyond his years. An example and model for anyone else who has this moral courage...
Thomas Sankara is a personal hero of mine. What he did for the people of Burkina Faso was extraordinary, and his murder and overthrow and the reversal of his reforms was an absolute crime and a tragedy. I hope Compaore finally faces justice. There are no words to describe such a backstabbing traitor. My heart breaks for his brothers, his wife, all who knew him and mourned his death. They must be so incredibly proud of him.
True leader with no corruption records, guitar, motorcycle and fridge was only his belongings, a True leader who values his people than money long live peoples leader
I wish they would have done a longer video, so we can get an in-depth look at everything, especially from their family's point of view. That would have been amazing.
BBC represents the white oligarchic capitalist patriarchy! So why do you think they will go into details of who killed Sankara. It was imperialists who murdered him, Blaise was only an agent that's all
please would you do longuer video, I am from equatorial guinea , 42 years old, my fisrt son is called by name Shankara, very sad , burkina faso and africa lost a real icon
Wow! I’m shocked! Africa lost a GREAT man😢 Not even his family! My president wanted to pay his wife and second lady from 2017, huge sums of money yet he keeps saying we’re not in normal times… God keep Sankara’s soul🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Great Pan Afrikanist we still celebrate him the whole of Afrika. His vision and many Pan Afrikans still lives on and on...United States of Afrika😭🖤🌍🌍✊🏾✊🏾
May Allah swt forgive & bless brother Thomas Sankara, my dad used to tell me about the greatness of this man & how much he was loved in & outside of Africa, much love from somalia for my burkinabe brothers & sisters 🇸🇴❤️🇧🇫
bbc is not the write place to remember Sankara. What we, africans must lern from the assesnahtion of Sankara is that, we have still long way to go to be able to have our own leaders. The wester imperialists will see to that, that some one like him will not happen.
such a thing called bbc ( british brodcasting corp.) africa. This do not make sense, it contradicts. We need african brodcasting corp, ABC. Africans should have eyes that see and not the other ways.
I pray many more Sankara emerge not just from Burkina Faso but from the whole of Africa to liberate Africa from the clothes of slavery. Yeah, you say are we enslaved? Oh yes!
The problem is that when those great leaders emerge, they are often left alone and betrayed: one leader, as good as he may be, can't do much alone: the masses must rise their collective consciousness and take responsibility to make a change.
his 3guitars, bicycle, fridge , only legacy as a african preident!!! bravo, people call him the Che of africa, and I called them Che =Thomas sankara of south america, Jose mujica= thomas sankara of uruguay, whay not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only because Che came first in time, and when 2 decades after, Sankara's honesty and courage, reminded the world of him, people started to call him the African Che. Mujica was a good leader but you can't compare him with those two revolutionary giants.
The family ain't rich because he was a leader with values. Selfless. A few years from now when we review current leaders, we will seen mansions n bungalows with Porsche cars swimming pools and etc. Our leaders are finishing us oooh
" the ends you serve that are selfish will take you no further than yourself but the ends serve that are for all,in common, will take you into eternity" Mr MARCUS" MESSIAH" GARVEY
A "feminist" and "environmentalist" well before that was fashionable. He made a 50 years for Burkina before he got killed. Promoted lot of women in the government, encouraged the education of girls in schools, planted trees to stop the desertification in the Sahel region .....etc, truly a visionary. RIP Tom Sank
I was living a corporate life in 1983/4/5 and never heard of this man. If I had my time back I would have gone to help. Same age and burning sense of colonial injustice. Obviously, a short but real life.......
If I see the image of our heroes in Africa I feel like crying because there was love Africa a lot and they need to see to build the United State of Africa let the gold and diamond Country Africa is
Anything with association with French in Africa has ended up in disaster. Just go your own way former French territories in W.africa if you want to see thought of the future and abandon the French like Rwanda
I am a big fan of Residents Presidents on the BBC world service. Olushambles and Kibarkingmad have always reminded me that great leaders have no place in this continent.
Burkina Faso keeps breaking number of coup detats record in Africa😂. Why can't they settle matters with mere talk? Is it greed? Or each coup leader wants to fix the economy?
This is the curse of Africa. We are so good at killing and discarding the best that God has endowed us with, so adept at dimming and putting off flames of vision that illuminates our paths to self respect and dignified social economic sustainability while dancing fervently and worshipping foreign ghosts who day and night plot to rob us, as stirs up amongst us a sad , tragic and constant urge to run from our own selves.
Funny thing is as time went on a lot of Burkinabes got fed up with sankara's ideas. But as with the norm for all Africans we tend to realize what we had after its long gone. We don't believe in make the sacrifices today for a better tomorrow so we complain about our leaders and only appreciate them after they are gone
Its a wonderful story, and we salute him. However, most African leaders at that time started off like that, very humble, fair and shown love & respect to their people. They either turned to be corrupt or mad dictators when their development policies don't work out.
This video expose behind of what made many African leader to be corrupt ,it's extreme experction from their families, Imagine having those kind of people into your life everyday , Can u really live into your principle ?Aftican we need to stop being greedy STOP APPLY PRESSURE TO OUR SELVES AND ONES WHO SERVE PUBLIC
