The irony is that watching this brings tears to my eyes because my father whom I lost last year was the image of Paul in looks. Ridiculously so. People would even approach us in the street back in the day. Even more ironic was that his name was Michael Newman. My mother always liked the name Paul, so I got the name Paul Newman. Sadly I didn’t inherit my dads good looks or the real Paul so in my early days in the 70’s I would cringe whenever my name was read out. In my late 50’s now. I love this guy as an actor. Sadly, watching him just reminds me of my dad. In a good way, but also a very sad way. I miss my dad.

It isn't often that greatness and humility go together, especially when coupled with philanthropy, class, decency, grace, and respect. One of my favorite actors, but, for me, my favorite racing driver. I am happy he made the life choices he did. We will not soon see Paul's like again. I actually got to meet him at Road America once at a race...and, got to sample some of his food.

Just watched cool hand Luke, again. A Great movie.

The world would be a better place if there were more people like Paul Newman in it. His philosophy was very much like that of my own late Father, and true altruism stands out these days because it is so rare. Wish this was the norm in the human race.

DAMN THOSE CIGARETTES. But for them, he didn't have to go. Same for Sinatra, Brynner, McQueen, Carson, Davis, & Martin. No one comes close today to these icons of entertainment except the lowly tobacco cigarette which is credited with taking them all out.

I met Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward at Harvey's Restaurant in Washington, D.C. It was on a Sunday, and shortly after the death of his son. Nobody knew they would be here. Before you knew it there was a line out the door of women wanting to have dinner with Paul. He walked towards the bathroom with lines of women waited asking to me Hey!! Is there another restroom I can use. I took Paul to the employees restroom with Spanish guys mouth wide open. Paul says, it's ok I am not a Republican, and not immigration. Everyone laughed!! At his table women would grab anything he touched. A woman says I grabbed Paul's butt, meaning his ashstray. Management asked Paul do you want us to stop this. He said, no. These are the people that go to my movies that pay my salary which I am very grateful too! Both, Paul and Joanne hold hands accross the table talking while he is surrounded by fans. They were having romantic evening together no matter what.

I never liked the guy...he's so constipated and proud. Next to Steve McQueen, for example. McQueen had more class and charisma.
