I used to watch The Ghoul as a kid on WKBD Channel 50 in Detroit. Mr. Sweed was hilarious and we couldn't wait for the show to come on to see what he had "cooked up" for the night! RIP Mr. Sweed.
The Ghoul!! I remember watching him on Channel 50 back when I was a kid growing up in Detroit. What great memories. A simpler time with such terrific local entertainment. There isn't anything like the Ghoul anymore. RIP Ron...you will have a special place in my heart.
Sad. Used to watch him as a young girl in the early 70's on Sat. nights with my aunt. She is only 2 yrs older than me, so we both enjoyed the same things. And creepy, scary movies were so much fun to watch with the Ghoul. And of course, we all had to wear sunglasses like him, too, lol. Love the Ghoul! R.I.P.
i remember back when I tried to "tune" him on tv62. literally you had to tune or adjust the tuner to dial in his show. I made the best of it just to watch his show. those crazy movie breaks... rip Ghoul
I was allowed to watch on saturday nights. Windsor across from Detroit. I was a huge fan and of course had everything memorised. saturday nights were for the ghoul
Ron's ghoul was the real deal. we loved all his stuff but my little sister would sometimes cry when ever froggy got the bad end of the deal. that ghouldini character was the most fun to watch week after week. Goodbye Ron S-(weed) I knew you were high on something?
I remember here in Detroit watching him at night. Laughing and having a good time. I will miss him greatly. My friend To Paul has tons of tapes he shot of him from both Ghoulardi fest. I used to have an original bottle of turn blue Ghoul brew. Then got the one's in the clear bottles. I had both Froggy Sqezzins and Ghoul brew. All signed by him. Also had a pink flamingo signed by him as well. Check out Paul Muczynski on Facebook and a lot of his photos of the Ghoul.
Ernie ("Ghoulardi") Big Chuck, Ron ("The Ghoul"), Lil' John, Bob ("Hoolihan") and the rest -- man, DO WE miss ya! Countless thanks for the mayhem, memories, bad movies, and laughs! You guys are legend!
After his Initial stint in Cleveland in the early 70's, The Ghoul returned to Cleveland airwaves in 1982. that was short lived and then returned yet again in 1998.....
I haven't thought about The Ghoul in many decades But I am just mourning his lost He was an important part of my life & youth...Gods speed Ron Gods speed RIP The GHOUL..
Another Detroit area fan, I was one of the 15/16 year olds that watched it and my friends did too, never missed it. I keep searching here for any parts of the movies I faintly remember but don't find any of them even in part. Maybe if somebody with the original tapes could put them into a box set they'd rake in some dough.
oh. watched this as a kid. Channle 56 UHF out of Boston, MA Cambridge. Usually staying over at a childhood friend's house Joe Dargy. The brain that wouldn't die, and others. I also remember one musical they did, goofing on the then Nixon, watergate stuff. It rhymed really well and I remember one part in pieces,... With Halderman, erlichman, Mitchell and Dean!
He was before my time, but I discovered clips of him on RU-vid abusing Froggy the Gremlin which I found amusing. Good night, sweet crazy prince of madness.
We are doing a non-profit documentary on Ron Sweed The Ghoul. We would like to use your footage. We are doing interviews with anyone that wants to share. Thank You.
Stay sick! Turn blue! Scratch glass! Climb walls! But, most importantly of all - do it while you can, but DON'T GET CAUGHT !!! RIP Ron. (So long, Spencer & Mongolia)

I met him and his stunning wife when Ch 61 was part of the MDA telethon. He was an accomplished ventriloquist with his "buddy" Clem O'Hare. He was easy to talk with until he put on his Ghoul garb, and then he became an arrogant prick.
