One of the greatest composer India has ever seen . Am a tamilian, I Don't understand Bengali but salil Chowdhurys melodious tunes and orchestration are more than enough. One of the very few original composers who understood the real meaning of prelude and interludes in songs.
I am in Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, which is considered the Crown Jewel of the Rocky Mountain Ranges in the North American Continent. One of the most beautiful Mountains in the World. I am of Bangladesh origin & I am a Bengali. I have been living & working in this majestic iconic place for some time. My Bengali heritage & culture is deeply embedded in my heart & soul. I have been living in Canada for almost 40 years ! I miss my Indian heritage deeply. Songs composed & directed by Salil Chowdhury is so amazingly alive & stunningly beautiful in its melody & lyrics. He presents our normal Human life in such a natural fashion that makes each & every song becomes unforgettable & nostalgic forever. We become natural & normal Human being again by dint of his Magic touch ! And, we are born again by the grace God. Wow ! All credit goes to our most beloved & respected Music composer Salil Chowdhury. Whenever I listen to his songs, my emotional & spiritual spirit goes up & I feel very happy. As if, I am enjoying in live stage concert surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains in February, 2020. It makes my life so beautiful & meaningful. It makes me feel so young & strong. I go back to my roots. And, I feel so energized. Out of my happiness, I cry. Obviously, I miss Bangladesh & its people, culture & music deeply. No doubt, Salil Chowdhury is the greatest Composer & director, musician & cultural Icon in the Indian Sub - Continent & the World. He is the greatest source & inspiration for hundreds of millions people around the Globe who are fighting for humanity, justice, dignity & indigenous cultural awareness & identity. Music is the most important link to keep alive our ancient culture & civilization no matter where we live in this Planet. Salil chowdhurys compositions are Divine. Awesome grasp of western Classical music and hindustani. I started with his Tamil Songs then Malayalam and hindi now to his Bengali compositions. There's no saturation point. lovely compositions that will stand the test of time for ages to come.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest composers of India. He had a deep understanding of Western Classical Music which he intelligently incorporated into his compositions. His use of the obligato is authoritative, his grip on Hindustani classical music is non-pareil, but i like the sudden surprise turns in his tunes which are unique to him. Salil Da is great!

Best ever composer of Indian light music. Often think how dull would have been the life had such geniuses were not there. It is more than half a century since these songs were composed. It's appeal even today is unmatchable. These show that real music does not consist of meaningless lyrics and cacophony.

I find Salil to be the most outstanding composer in the whole India. He was a very knowledgable person, and that reflected through his songs. Personally I get inspired to know about music theories because of Salil.
