Remembering Team Fortress 2 on PS3... (2007 - 2023) 

As someone who played the PS3 version since early 2008... damn, we're all old now.

Correction: Xbox 360 CAN have custom maps but ONLY other modders with the EXACT SAME files can play the map together, regular/unmodded players cannot join.

I'm gonna miss this version It was the way I personally experienced tf2 for the first time I had met many cool players and I'm going to miss them all

Hopefully people captured network packets for this game and for every function so that eventually someone can start making their own servers. Probably wishful thinking right now tho lol

As someone who loved the 360 and ps3, I’d have to agree with gabe in a since. He probably didn’t have to say it was a waste. But the consoles architecture shouldn’t have been the way it was, but I’m glad the orange box kinda came out ok. R.I.P Tf2 you’ll be missed

my brain was alerted TF2 ON PS3 randomly right after it just shutdown i never had tf2 but i have ps3 lol

as a person who plays on nothing but 2fort, it’s incredible to think that .vtf file has gone through 3 console generations and is still played a lot to this day.

Bro i just bought my new PS3 Pro, but until this day, TODAY, i just realized there is a TF2 PS3 version. I always played the PC version. F, i didn't even get a chance to play it

Golden Era died... Or Killed... Just Like GTA 5 2021. Now 2023 The Orange Box.

So many fantastic memories with this version. What killed it for me was when Modders would enable god mode and fly around the map, no clipping through everything and killing everyone on the opposite team and there was nothing you could do. All the friends I had on my friends list through this game all gradually stopped playing and never went back. Still have my copy from late December 2007. If the servers ever come online again, I'll be there.

I, unfortunately, never got to play this when it was alive. It would've been great to have played TF2 on PS3.

I have good memories of playing TF2 on PS3, vanilla and modded. I'm glad it had such a long run, but it's sad to see it go. Unbelievable that it lasted longer than Sony's own games with online play!

I’ve played pretty much every year since 08 - 2022. The ONLY THING holding this community back was server quality. We had thousands of players back in the day, and we were able to resurrect the game in the mid 2010’s. The game was very playable, and we’ve had a clan community during its heyday.

I still miss the focused TF2 gameplay and the consistent art style. I had an absolute blast when the Team Fortress 2 Classic mod when it came out but I haven't played it in a while so I'm not sure if servers still have players. I can't look at "modern TF2" as looking at it just saddens me.

Pretty much sums up my quarrels with multiplayer games now where people don't play them just to hop on and have a good time with other gamers, but to grind for arbitrary numbers/ranks and show off cosmetics. I miss that era, and I hope that mindset comes back one day but I doubt it ever will.

i know this video is a month ago and people probably wont care but here it goes: tf2 on the ps3 was my first time getting into tf2 and would lead me to valve's other famous titles, i would play it now and then and when i finally had it on pc i throught about if i should sometimes play the pc version or the ps3 version, it was fun playing it normally or finding all the bugs in the maps that never god fixed 🤣, i really see tf2 on the ps3 as a whole different experience from not just the pc version but also xbox, it had a personality of its own like for example tf2 on the ps3 is the only offical version of tf2 where the blue scout has blue pants, he has gray pants in xbox and pc because the layers for the textures for some reason had the blue pants be in a different layer all by itself and not with its other blue clothing like the red layer which would cause the person who was porting the textures to leave the grey pants on because the blue pants layer didnt cover it because it wasnt made visible with its other blue clothing because it was in a separate layer, well that was a rant idk what else to say other then i wish i could have played this one last time....

Even though I have this on Xbox, I still feel bad for any PS3 players

I played this for 2 years before I realized any bricked PC. I still miss the very loud ambient noises when playing the PC verison! 😂😭😞😭😂 Working hydro too. Overpowered and unerfed demoman is pretty awesome too, however everything else is literally worse. Goodbye ps3 tf2! 😭😭😭

if anyone is wondering tf2 ps3 does have a few differnce from teh pc and xbox version such as demo have 6 grenades instead of 4

I Play team fortress two for the PlayStation 3. It was glitchy, but I didn’t really hate it. I’m ghana miss team fortress two for PS3.

I've never played TF2 on the PS3 (Xbox boi, and I never got the Orange Box), but I wonder what it would take for Valve to take over the server.

In my opinion, I think the original version of Team Fortress 2 looks more enjoyable than what Team Fortress 2 is presently., I think TF2 has too much stuff going on now. I'm not much of a multiplayer guy to be honestly speaking, I love Valve for their singleplayer stuff. I don't claim to have a mighty opinion over this, major TF2 fans I'm sure could offer something more sophisticated. As I see it, original Team Fortress 2 is very clear and tight in its gameplay and theme. Valve had a very clear vision with it at the time so like you said, "no bullshit". Every class has its own purpose and the premise is mercenaries fighting in secret over world ending weaponry during the 1950's. (I've heard the comics have pushed it into the 1970's). Current TF2 by comparison I think is too cluttered with items which I think serves as a distraction for newer players. In terms of gameplay it becomes a matter of trying to figure out which specific weapon is superior to all others of its given slot. In terms of theme, it kills the atmosphere when you're in a missile base that looks like something out of a James Bond movie, meanwhile everyone else is running around with goofy costumes and Christmas lights. It would be nice to have the option to play the original version for what it was intended to be.

Maybe you could also look into TF2 Classic. It's not the OG TF2 since it adds a lot of things, but it's cut down more and has no cosmetics

At least we have sfm, pf2, tf2c, and tf2007.

I highly recommend people try tf2 classic. It isn't exactly like the original launch version, but it is much closer, and has some cut content. also just some quality of life improvements.

Actually it's quite easy decision Was Made on the and efter eksisterer copies Rom you can make a modification to that and literally make the inside game different what you can also make a different hex with you can get custom maps and other stuff place you can also make your own servers in the game there is lots of things that will be possible PS3 Was Made on Rom

I've never played any console versions, but I disagree that ps3 version looks like a shit. Modern tf2 looks washed out compared to original 2007 version. Something was lost after many updates and the lighting and many little details are now vastly inferior to how it used to be in 2007. That's not even taking into account the lack of hats and new weapons. Pure nostalgia.

Building forts? TF2 did it first then Fortnite?
