Diane Hunter, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, presents a Myaamia perspective on the process and nature of the forced removal of the Myaamiaki (Miami people) from Myaamionki (land of the Miami) the present state of Indiana to first Kansas and then Oklahoma, where the Nation currently has its seat of government. Hunter's presentation is clear and powerful. You can also find more details on nature of the Myaamia removal experience in a series of excellently crafted blog posts by Hunter here: aacimotaatiiya...
This video was presented as part of a public event on November 23, 2022 hosted by the American Legion Post 19, Muncie, Indiana in partnership with the Applied Anthropology Laboratories as part of the "Investigation of the Goldsmith Gilbert Cabin Site at the American Legion Post #19, Muncie, Indiana" funded in part by a grant from Indiana Humanities.
