Jewish survivor, Paula Lebovics; Jewish survivor, Howard Chandler; Jewish survivor, Philip Helbling; political prisoner, Kaz Wolff-Zdzienicki; and Sinti-Roma survivor, Julia Lentini recall their experiences of the evacuation and liberation of the Auschwitz camp complex in January 1945. Otari Amaglobeli of the Soviet Armed forces describes his involvement in the liberation of the camp complex on Jan. 27, 1945. This testimony clip reel was produced in partnership with The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme for the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz, in January 2015.

Wow! Thank each and everyone of you for your testimony. I’m 75 years old and this is still a subject that needs to be brought to everyone’s attention. We are so sorry for the cruelty and hate opposed upon you. Sincere condolences of your loss. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

I appreciate the videos. They are teaching more than I ever thought about this subject. Saddens me to watch, but we need to learn from this horrifying part of history.

I wonder how long they were looked after, surely after having no food in your stomach you would be sick if you ate. The will to survive is strong thank god they lived to tell their story

not forgetting the other millions who were executed at this time...I am not forgetting either or making a distinction...just that there were whole groups of people equally treated so TERRIBLY

Just to think that the Russian soldiers liberated that concentration camp while there were millions of people in the Gulags in their own country. That must have been a crazy feeling for the Russian soldiers,since they could never have done much about their own people.
