A year ago two teachers and children were killed during the school shooting in Texas. We are going to honor for Lula on the 23rd. After mom and I went to her memorial service, I saw the furniture, I see old friends since 2 weeks ago. I worry about the people of Uvalde, Texas lost their children and going to church. This is really sad. I’m praying for the children for their deaths.

I'm a senior, lifelong Texan, former U.S. Army officer, current gun owner who is 1 of the huge number of Texans demanding some common sense gun safety laws to be enacted in this state that leads the nation in massacres & leads the nation in road rage homicides. When I began hunting a lot in the early 1960s I soon saw that the minimum age to buy shotguns & rifles in TX should be 21. The majority of TX teenage boys I saw were unsafe in their gun handling & hunting methods, including negligent discharges. Some recklessness. I'm lucky to have survived those years. And I saw too many hunting illegally, such as removing plugs from their shotguns, exceeding bag limits of game, hunting when dark, hunting out of season. And a whole lot of TX teenage boys loved to illegally spotlight for deer. And that dangerous practice was during an era when a large percent of farmers & ranchers in my large region of coastal TX let a lot of folks hunt free of charge. That era is long over. Because of this current era of high cost of hunting on private land I'm sure that TX teenage boys poaching game is worse than ever, including spotlighting for deer at night, along the side of roads, with a substantial percent of rifle shots heading in the direction of residential yards & houses. There is no way that TX teenage boys looking to hunt at no cost should be allowed to go into gun shops when they turn 18 & buy rifles or shotguns. Responsible adults can give or lend guns to folks less than 21. The ones under 21 can simply wait til they're 21 to legally buy guns themselves. Texans would be safer from fewer stray rifle rounds coming towards their yards or homes at night because fewer teenage boys would have easy access to rifles for spotlighting deer. And of course if angry TX teenage boys can't simply walk into gun shops when they turn 18 & buy AR-15s, we will have fewer massacres in TX. The next massacre in TX can easily come at any time.
