I grew up on Wendy, Doreen, and both Jim’s. 7 years old eating my breakfast with my brother and grandma, watching News 4 before school. 😢 so sad. May she Rest In Peace!

I as well doing the same thing. Gorge Michael, Jim hurt too. Born and raised in dmv. I’ve lived in Miami, Las Vegas, now live in Centreville va and in Dublin Ohio. Let me tell you . We are so lucky to have witnessed pure professionalism like we did in the dmv. No other place can come close. Not even New York. She will be missed

I read somewhere yesterday a 27 year old news anchor died of brain cancer and in Atlanta a news anchor recently died of brain cancer also. Wow maybe it’s just a coincidence. So sad.

It hurts so much when you remember that for years, everyday, you lived your life relying on and the comforting of knowing that your regular news anchors would always be there to inform you of what’s going on and that everything would be okay or when we should be worried. We took our daily cues from you about what was going on around us. It’s heartbreaking when reality sets in and we see that they too, like us, are not infallible or immortal. It’s saddens us that so many familiar and comforting faces that we’ve relied on for so many years will be gone. - We will miss you Wendy; we will miss you all that have died and gone before us. Thanks for your service and compassion.

Renee Poussaint passed in March, Bruce Johnson at the beginning of this month, and now Wendy Rieger almost 2 weeks later. I grew up watching all of them, but my favorite station was always NBC with Jim Vance, Doreen Gentzler, Bob Ryan and George Michael. Those were the good old days. Rest in peace Ms. Rieger.

I grew up in the greater DC area but have never really been a news watcher, so I really didn’t know who Wendy was before her passing. She seemed so bubbly! 65 is still not that old, but she looked way younger. Glioblastoma is such a horrible cancer. May she RIP.

I don't know why her death has hit me so hard other than maybe it's because my mom passed away a month ago and I've been reflecting on mortality a lot more than I would otherwise be doing. I can’t remember the year..perhaps over 25 or 30 yrs ago, I saw Wendy at a Tony Bennett concert at the 9:30 club as she was sipping on a glass of wine. I was star struck and she was beautiful.
