Dear Soldier,
You are my hero of all things,
You are the wind beneath my wings.
You have been meeting the young and old,
You have survived the winds and cold.
You have known rainfall and gunfire,
You have enough from Derby to Devonshire.
You know cold that freezes your toes,
You have helped people with uncountable woes.
You have been scared and risked your life,
You have been through such mortal strife.
You have seen sorrows so tall,
You wished you wouldn’t fight at all.
You are now shaken after the war,
You could just collapse to the floor.
You know you have risked your life,
But more important than that, you have saved ours.
