I swear Remind is the one bboy who would not be intimidated at all by Kmel in a battle let alone take a turn from him. I hate how many people in the god damn crowd probably don't know who these cats really are and how bboying wouldn't be bboying without them, there was sooo much soul and real musicality in this battle, fight you dont see anymore today.
legendary battle! we were all waiting for Crumbs vs Kmel, but Remind vs Kmel was just as amazing. To everyone hating on Kmel not feeling the music or being tired, you have to understand that dude is crazy tall and has over 20 years in the game. The fact that he's still breaking at this physical level is unbelievable.
+THE STEADFAST CO Besides point. The DJ didn't suck and those were good tracks that most b-boys can get down to.. Kmel specifically wanted songs he likes and the world doesn't work like that. If he really expected to get the songs he wanted, then eh should have wrote the DJ a playlist.
How does being tall have anything to do with being a prima donna when it comes to music? And K-Mel having 20 years in the game? Ok, that's cool, Remind has +5 at LEAST on that, possibly kloser to 10. Be a bboy, a real dancer, not a circus seal waiting for the right cue points. Remind wins just for stealing that round while K-Mel sat around and waited to be catered to.
Klos1neMN Yea you're right. In fact I think Remind has been breaking since the 80's. I remember him saying that in an interview, just can't remember which one. The man doesn't age.
Haha, goddamnit. I was literally thinking last night, "It would be DOPE if I mixed my popping with my toprocks. Even doper to mix it w/ breaking..." and lo and behold, here's Remind doing just that...only a year ago. Dude's too original!
Finally someone who agree's. I dance to all types of music even songs that just have vocal, i just move in time with the lyrics, but obviously my main style is Hip-Hop/Break
For those saying the beats weren't good, these are all standard beats for any bboy jam. In a battle you have to dance to whatever is played--that's just how it is. Much respect to both Remind and Kmel, though. They are both O.G.'s and not many bboys have as much raw dancing talent as either of them.
I know he was born in the Bronx but, during the era he blew up in early 2000 he was in Florida. In Who Can Roast the Most 2001, that event's concept is a Florida guy vs. a guy from another state. In that event Kmel was the Florida guy in his exhibition against Reveal.Rainen was Cali in his exhib against Prizm (Florida). Boo Rock was Florida in his exhib against Lil Roc Cali.
@Gomezasas no those are the only videos ill post not aloud to post mybboy videos cause of my crew were against bitting and had to manycrews bit off of us all the videos on there are old
@bboysilk The music was fine. Kmel just picky. Remind is musicality and creativity too but he was able to dance to the dj's music. Anyways Kmel killed it. Props still.
I don't think Kmel lives in Florida now but, he was a Florida head for a while which is why he teamed up with all Florida heads for years in multiple world competitions with Rudy Goblin, Lego, Flea, and Teknyc in early 2000 as Flipside Brats. He was only born in the Bronx but, his crew Boogie Brats consisted of Canadian dudes and he was not in the Bronx during his bboy career.
some of my favorite old school bboys.i still say jazzy j takes them all lol.to all real bboy fans check this clip out " Product Of Me/Jazzy 500 "this video clip is the shit, some of the dopest power move ever seen where made by this guy.
@Lzibbah You're forgetting the whole reason why we dance is because of the music. I don't know what he didn't like about the music, since most the beats were pretty classic funk and soul, but the whole point is to express yourself to the music you love.
That doesn't make him old school, even then. You need to be reminded (pun, intended) that kids, such as Remind's age, where introduced to Hip Hop by way of the media. Remind is NOT from New York City. Get it right and exact, boy.
ahaha at 6:09 you can tell by Nasty Ray's reaction that he thought Kmel was actually hurt. Nasty Ray is sitting on the left side of Casper (Guy in Maroon standing up).
You do not, I repeat, DO NOT, have to be from, or ever have been to, New York, to be introduced to real hip-hop the way it was meant to be. A local jam, a underground concert, setting since great heads piecing, whatever. Yes, New York, the Bronx more specifically, is the birthplace, and no one will ever forget that. But hip hop is bigger than that. It touches a chord in the souls of some, and just seems really cool in others. But you can know a person without watching them be born, hiphop too.
@bboykiddblack Honestly though, my bad. I didn't mean to start so much controversy on a RU-vid video. I was just stating my opinion even though I may have posted it as if it was a fact. As a fellow Bboy apart of the community and peer I respectfully apologize for any mishaps that have occurred between us due to my poor judgement.
