To elaborate on his original message, he quotes Pope Benedict XVI, saying, “Until I am accepted and loved by another, I cannot accept and love myself. But even then the sense is fragile, because all human acceptance is fragile. Ultimately, we need a sense of being accepted unconditionally. Only if God accepts me and I have become convinced of this, do I know definitely it is good that I exist."
As Romans Chapter 5 states, “God proved his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The timing of this upload is insane. I was just lying in the dark contemplating my life and my decisions and actions. Even had a conversation with God in my head or I think I had, anyway that got me to calm down. And now I saw this video....I think it is time for me to head to church after 8 years of living as an atheist.

I also have anxiety And stress bipolar . My medication Really helps me but if I miss My medication I become a mess. So I know what it's like have anxiety . When I used to work I used to get off FLMA Because of that . I do not feel alone when I hear someone else has the same problem.

I just got home, from a very rough night.. I work for an EMS service, and came home.. covered in blood, and on the verge of tears, wondering if I am making a difference.. and, as strange as it sounds.. hearing the words, "it is good, that you exists", that "I have a purpose".. quieted the doubt, and gave me peace.. thank you Father Mike, so very much..

What a video to wake up to as it is early in the morning here in Australia. I liked your book. I am well in my forties and I have always been single. It is likely I always well be. I don't often feel loved. I often hate myself. That hasn't changed much leaving a Protestant church and converting to Catholicism the past few months. There are still times I play with the thought of ending my life. Even now as I write this. But it is not an option for a Catholic, or any Christian. Or anyone. I should remind myself of the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life' where the angel shows George Baily what would it have been like if he had never been born. He had such a impact on so many lives. The biggest influence your book was the introduction when the book 'Made for Love, that one of the messages is that friendship is real love, not a compromise. Thanks for this video.

Night of october 24 here in Italy. And I am reading you... I am so sad when you write that you hate yourself. I am sure there's nothing wrong in a person like you ... I mean you are clever and sensitive. Sorry, my English is not perfect because I usually speak Italian... But, please, trust in God, in His immense love for you. I know that it is very difficult when nobody is close to you, or when you have many people around you and they don't behave as friends. I know how it happens... and I know that you have to let Jesus to love you... Do not fight to be a different person, for the moment. Feel that you are perfect as you are, because He wants you and your life story as it is, even now with your problems. Just offer your sufferings to Jesus for the conversion of the sinners or for soothing the sufferings of sick and lonely people. When you will feel a bit better... take your joy with you and start a new day. Please never "play with the thought of ending life". If you have such a thought... just live for Jesus. And for me!!!. For a member of your Catholic family. You are my brother. You have to live because Jesus wants you to live, and because an Italian catholic woman, your sister in Christ, needs that YOU live and appreciate your precious holy life. If you want, if you have time, just say a little-little prayer for me from Australia, just a little good thought for me, because me too I need to improve my life and my faith, my dear brother.

Fr. Mike. I hope you realize that God is using you to change hearts. This video both broke and mended mine. I struggle with “if I truly loved God I would do more”. I see what I’m not doing and my brokenness can be overwhelming. To have an all loving God -who gives me everything when I commit less than all of me- breaks me. Your talk helped a lot though. My depression, fears etc have eased up at times, God’s faithfulness has never left me. Ever. Thanks for the reminder.

I am currently reading this book called I Believe In Love - it is based off the teachings of St. Therese! I too have struggled with that, but a quote from it has immensely helped me. "God sees us for what we sincerely desire to be for Him." Your great desires to love Him are beautiful and speak volumes! He sees you and delights!

I’ve had literally such a rough first year in college, and a very rough time for the past 6-8 months in general. Contemplating suicide, questioning God, family relations and relationships that have just went sour, and nothing has seemed to go right. First Sunday in a long time I chose not to go to church. But I went to this video trying to find an answer and was so moved by it that I began to cry, because in my heart and in my faith I know that this message is true that God loves me. Just as he loves whoever is reading this.

The words of Pope Benedict XVI you quote here, Fr. Mike, are true. It is not enough to theoretically know God’s love for us. We must be convinced and know His love intimately before we can love ourselves or others. Unfortunately I struggle deeply with this, despite my proximity to God, and despite knowing of His love. I pray for all who are in a similar place. It is a great suffering.

A youth in my community put this on Facebook "Stop telling people that know one will love them until they love themselves! Stop planting the idea in pleople's brain that they are unworthy of love because of their own struggles!" I read a lot of pain in this message. It reminded me of my difficult journey to get to a place where I felt loved. I was looking for something to send her. And I am sending her your message. Thanks.

Thank you, I had recently been feeling so alone and unlovable, for awhile I had abandoned god in fear that no one would love me. But today I started to cry and unable to think, the sobbing scrambled my mind, I thought who could love me. And I started to just stare into nothingness, the words just kept repeating in my head “who could love me”, and I started to think, very very hard, who could love me? And I thought, well god could, right? If god could love me then wouldn’t it be right that my parents loved me along with my siblings. All I can say thank you for bringing god into my life once again.

Thanks Father Mike. I just graduated from college and right now I don't have a job. I'm working for free for mi parish as a catechist for comunion, confirmation and life teen (this is our second year with this metod in my parish here in Spain, prayers are welcome!) I don't have a sense of direction right now, I feel that I don't fit anywhere (even in my parish) and my future looks misty. I know God loves me and I aproach this time in my life as a patience test, but still I need someone to remind me sometimes that even if I feel that I don't have a place in earth I'm not a mistake. Thanks again.

I so wish this video was out sooner. I had found out years ago that I was unexpected and the person who told me made it seem like he was "stuck" with my mother because of me. Yeah, Fred Rogers was a Presbyterian pastor in the Pittsburgh, PA, area. Before he went into the ministry, he was in the Marine Corps. I think he saw action while serving in the military.

This early morning, I needed to hear God’s message to fill my heart with forgivness for 2 of my bosses at work and their lack of appreciation for their exhausted employees like me who give the 150% effort. I work at a High School with youth. I have always said in my interior when my egocentric boss comes to me demanding more: “I’m not working for you, what I do for these children, is work for God”, my Father”. Today, I was looking for God to give me strength to continue and He sent me this message. Thank you Father for this video. I got what I needed.

God loves us all so much. But I always teach my catechism kids to be a humble bumble. I used to wonder that, and I do from time to time because of the abuse from a lot of people, including my father. Learning to love myself is hard, the hardest thing I have ever done it is a constant work.
