In 1963 Remington introduced the Model 1100 shotgun, a gas operated semi automatic that took the shotgun world by storm.......so much so that it caused Remington to discontinue the Model 11-48 and Model 58, the two other semi auto shotguns in the lineup. You can imagine how it impacted sales of the competitors offerings.
The example I have here is a 1985 production, 2 3/4'' 12 Gauge with a 30'' fixed full choke barrel that was virtually unfired most likely due to the fact that the gas system was set up improperly and was probably thought to be defective by the previous owner. A simple procedure to align the gas rings properly showed this shotgun to be flawless in operation.
