Come fly and hunt with the Alaska Boys. I took Bennett on his first deer hunt and we had a great time. All sorts of weather flying made this a tricky trip but we managed to make good use of our day.

Taking that plane ride made me so Thankful to God for his creation. During this time on Earth it is a blessing to see the Earth in its natural habitat. The Shark on the beach was neat to see. The Eagles were probably Happy. Loved seeing Bennett get the Deer. He is a pretty good Hunter. He is definitely growing, seeing him sleep in the plane, his resting bones are setting in. But you guys worked hard. Mark, you are such a great Husband, Father, Provider, Teacher, Guider, and Man of integrity. All with a clear vision of Patience. And a charitable heart to bring all to others. So incredible this mission. I don't know how you came up with this idea. But I thank you for all your Time Talent and Treasure. Bring it on, I can't wait to see what is next

I need to just bite the bullet and just get a plane. It’s hard to believe all the hunting seasons are already upon us again. Congrats to your son for the deer. It looked like it was a good time despite the weather. Keep raising them right, safe flying, and good luck this season.

Thanks for watching. I was glad we made it home, it was a whirlwind of a day. If we had been stuck, it was about 10 days till the weather cleared again.

Great hunt Bennett!! A beautiful healthy deer AND hedgehog mushrooms, youre quite the hunter, so impressive for your age!! Your dad is teaching you well!! What a great video. Really appreciate the time and effort to video and edit and upload to the Tube! I would really love to experience a fly-in black tail hunt someday and watching the video made me feel like I was there. Certainly appreciate the processing portion also. Well Done, cheers!

Thank you Chris. Black tail hunting is underrated by some, but I feel it’s such a great experience, especially for a younger hunter to have great early experiences with hunting big game.

It is cool and sometimes I have to remind myself that this is what I hoped and dreamed about doing as I was a young adult. On the other hand, a trip like this is fairly stressful as I’m always trying to be safe while flying in challenging conditions and not getting stuck out there for a week or more due to fall storms. If we hadn’t made it out that day, we likely would’ve been stuck for 7-10 days due to a series of nasty storms that rolled through the Gulf of Alaska.

Yes, we landed on a sandy beach. As the tide goes out it is very firm, almost like landing on a paved airstrip as long as it’s wet. It can be tricky to time it right as the beach is covered in water twice a day with the high tides.

I’m not sure, he needs to improve his shooting ability and maturity. Maybe basic grouse or rabbits in a year if the circumstances are right, otherwise probably not till he’s 9 at the earliest.

That is the first I’ve ever seen washed up. In some places they get concentrated during summer salmon runs, but we’ve never run into that.

Do you have your boys take a fire arm safety course?

If they hunt under my direct supervision they are ok for now. As they get older or if the want to hunt any of the youth specific tags they have to take the hunters safety class. All adults are required to have the course to hunt in Ak, for the most part as there are a few exceptions for bush Alaska.

Yes, they take hunter safety courses and also lots of gun safety coaching at home in the yard. For them to participate in the drawing hunts, like their moose hunt this Fall they have to pass the Hunter safety course which consists of a pen and paper test and a shooting test. They do a lot of studying beforehand.
