I'm not sure this type of CAD/CAM (Cardboard Aided Manufacture) is suitable for outdoor use.

What is the correct rating for the Schottky Diode?

We used a 1N5817 Schottky Diode which is rated for 20V and 1A. You can even improve on this design according to the Pico Datasheet.
