Something to consider, for anyone who complains about where they live. Add to your list of 'Pros' that at least you don't have bot flies. Unless you do. That's all you need for 'Cons' I'm convinced.
Wow,, what monsters you pulled out,, those flies were huge!! I can't believe how cooperative the little squirrel was while you were yanking those things out. He took it like a champ & I'd be willing to bet he was very grateful to have those massive lumps removed from his nut chewing jaws! What a relief I'm sure for the little fellow!!
What I’ve learned, is pull the botfly out slowly. They have small barbs to hold on to expand. Like a catfish. Pull slow and don’t pinch. Thank you for your content
Alrenatively, depending on the size of the hole or larva, mosquito forceps, which are smaller than artery forceps. Both have serrated tips, which will grip the larva better, and a ratchet on the handle which will lock the forceps onto the larva. The ratchet saves the pressure on your fingers. For even finer work, one could use ophthalmic instruments. Hope it helps 🙂.
No necesitas sacarlos a la fuerza .. Se pone en cada orificio bastante vaselina o algún ungüento espeso para tapar por completo el orificio y en algunos segundos empiezan a salir solos
Putting Vaseline or something over the opening makes the maggot want to clear out to get air also. So when covered, the maggot head will appear for air, making it easier to grip the maggot and pull it out.
This is painfull to watch ,I understand your trying to help but maybe using tweezers might not be the tight tool. I have watched many of video on this and this had to be the most painfull way . Saying this thank you for trying to help this little creature
I can say this botfly removal is quite tricky. Definitely need right equipment. They can be pulled in half leaving the other half behind causing serious problems. 😊
The squirrel wasn’t crying or seemed to be in distress… Be happy that they took care of the squirrel …. They had the tools what was required to remove the botflies out of the squirrel 🐿️ …. Other ppl wouldn’t even care ❗️❗️❗️
When removing a botfly it's better to wiggle it back and forth as you pull it out not just pulled straight out comes out a little easier if you wiggle it back and forth
I'm sorry, it appears that this poor squirrel was really tortured by not having someone stronger and more careful remove these botflies! This isn't rocket science!
I had to remove a larva out of my dogs back! It was horrific! I covered it with Vaseline and when it stuck it’s head out I grabbed it. I screamed the whole time! After that,I only let her outside for potty and walks!🥲
@homie3461 I was 16 and had no idea what I was getting myself into. The vet had suggested I use the Vaseline since I couldn’t afford the holiday/weekend visit.
Ive never seen black bot fly larvae before. Ive dealt with alot of them while working with horses. They have always been white/off white. Is there more than 1 kind of bot fly?
I think you need to coat the bot fly with vasiline first to kill it's breather hole, then it comes out much easier. Otherwise, it has all these quills that make it very hard to pull out.
Was it not an option to put the squirrel to sleep and then remove the botflies? Even just to relax it for pain reasons. It looks like her poor skin is going to come off!
Harbor Freight sells mechanic tweezers that also have a built in light that are probably more suited to the bot fly removal. But file off the sharp edges first
That squirrel has to be exhausted after that. You could see the eyes were closed, Like the squirrel was basically knocked out from all the pain... I felt so bad for it, thank God There are some great people out there that can help. On a side note, I cannot believe how big those things were. I did not expect them to be that large. Imagine how uncomfortable that would be to live like that.
Oh Buddy What Kind Of Giant Larva In Such A Small Creature! Without Insects Our Food Chain Will Collapse But Parasitic Insects Like Bot Flys Are Absolutly Brutal!!!
Дай Бог вам здоровье и счастья за спасение животных, от куда такая берётся в наше время зараза,да потому что люди виноваты, уже и на животных лезет всякая зараза, вся зараза идёт с Азии с Индии с Африки, ужас.
I have to that was really amatuer your supposed to cover the holes with vasoline or something similar they can't breathe at it forces them to stick their heads when you've got a good grip as you're pulling it out Riggle it side to side while pulling because they have barbs on the outside of there bodies so it's like pulling a splinter out your finger that has thorns facing the whole so when you're pulling the little barb things are sticking into the side walls of the entry and extraction hole thier is only one hole you pull it out the same way it went in
These videos are great and all, I'm glad they're getting rid of them but use clamps people geez tweezers obviously don't grip good enough, a pair of clamps will get it out in one pinch and pull
