Hi, this video is great! I got a fake review twice. But my story is quite different. When I spoke to the Google Business Rep, she said there was nothing they could do to protect business owners against fake reviews, because there was no way they could check if we were lying or telling the truth. Pretty disappointing :( Anyone could write whatever they wished. And as long as there was no hate speech, it would stay :(

Yea, its tricky... in my case it was pretty obviously off-topic which is usually another way to get it removed.

After watching your video, I flagged a recent negative review that was fake. The person left two stars and no comment. After two weeks, I used the number in your video. As it turns out, the fake review was showing up in the dashboard for Google My Business, but it was no longer showing in search. After my initial call, I noticed I was still at 4.9. When prior to the fake review, I was at a 5. When I asked about that, I was told the algorithm would eventually catch up with that. Thanks for all the great content! :)

How did you get that review removed? I was told by google that a review with just a rating is not in violation.

@@BoonieboyATL First, I flagged it. Then, I waited. After two weeks of waiting, I made the call. When all was said and done, the fake "review" with two stars is no longer showing. What's still showing is that I went from a 5 to a 4.9.

I was able to contact google by phone (thanks) finding the phone # was the hardest part, Had a nasty review from someone we have never done business with, and never communicated with. I explained the situation said she agreed and would remove it. I have to keep checking it for the next couple days but she assured me that if it wasn't removed in 3 days to contact her again. Great video thanks

Thank you for this I got a 1 star review with no comments from a person we never dealt with I also checked the profile of this person and he left a bunch of negative reviews to similar businesses to mine and these companies all stated they never dealt with this person before! I reported twice already by flagging as inappropriate and never heard back. I didn’t want o make a comment to it and potentially instigate more negative reviews from other fake profiles but will do that now!

I tried this approach, with a review from a fake customer. But because it didn't violate their laws it stayed up as a bad review.

Yep, that's an important thing Robert... in my case it was just off-topic, which can also be grounds for removal. Unfortunately, even if a review is technically fake, if it appears legitimate, and talks about relevant things, then it will be hard to get it removed. It's frustrating I know, just politely respond to it, explaining that you've never worked with them, etc.

Is there some way to talk to a Google Representative in these days because it seems that everything is going through requests online only and I can't find the phone number that I used to use years ago. Reporting the review more than 2 times t's not helping me out because in the email that we receive Google say that that review doesn't inflict their policy but actually does. The problem is a fake 1 star review from a person that only called us but we never dealt with her in person.

I flagged a one star review (nothing to do with my work, it was a freelancer I found on a freelance website who didn't do the work I paid him to do, and stretched out a $150 job over 2 months). Google removed the comments but has left the 1 star. I'm annoyed at that because I'd have preferred they leave the review and my explanation... Now I've got one 1-star and no review at all, which looks worse. Any ideas how to rectify this (I'm in the UK, not the USA).

Yikes, don't know about that one. Unfortunately, unless the review looks obviously fake, its hard to do. I'd just focus on getting some more 5 stars to balance it out, and in my opinion, a 1 star review with no comment won't hold a lot of weight for people. I mean, who leaves one star without complaining?

That sucks Helena, but unfortunately my best advice for things like that is to just respond to it as professionally as possible, saying "we have no records of having worked with you, " etc. Then just try to get more good ones to balance out the bad. Not much you can do to police the people out there who think its a good idea to do things like that.

What about fake reviewers that promote companies and fake bots. Found a company that had 99% fake reviews all of them good but from people in different cities with multiple reviews for companies all over the place. They are just selling reviews to people.

What if they take a staged picture saying their tire fell off of their truck due to someone not tightening the lug nuts? They didn’t try to call the shop to complain or ask for compensation. Just the review w the pic. The owner called the customer and said to bring in the truck so he can look everything over. He said he would come in and never did. I believe he couldn’t come because there was no damage. He didn’t want to have to change the bad review.

Sorry that happened Romeo! You can always try to follow these steps to get it removed but there are no guarantees. I recommend simply responding to it in a very calm, professional manner to tell your side... don't act defensive or overly emotional.

Google polices prohibit reviews being left from former employees. However google does not remove them. Every time I terminate someone..... boom 1 star google review for my business. I now have 3 1-star reviews from former employees over the past 5 years. Flagged, them, contacted them on facebook messanger..... they will not remove them. All 3 reviews even state they were employed here and they state they are reviewing employment at our company.

No way to do that really. My advice is just stay in your own lane and concentrate on your own business and building your own reviews. Once you start worrying about what everyone else is doing, you're fighting a losing battle.

That is wrong because my bad reviews are not fake and was deleted. But i can create endless account and for every deleted review i duplicate this. When everybody can remove every bad reviews then are reviews from Google a lie and nobody will trusted in the future or only the single bad review. Guy check your bad reviews maybe they are deleted too.

It sucks that ppl resort to doing that. Got another one myself the other day. Try to dispute, and if that fails, just comment on it letting ppl know you've never worked with that person before. Usually the fake reviews don't exactly read as convincing.

badbert52 I agree... unfortunately too many people think it’s a good idea to leave bad reviews on competitors to make themselves look better by comparison. Luckily most don’t make them convincing enough to stick once looked into.
