Shaving my face? I don't know her.
Welcome back for Skincare Sunday! As I've discussed on this channel before, I have a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome that affects my hormones in several troubling ways. One of the most upsetting outward symptoms of PCOS is the darkening and thickening of facial hair. As much as I joke about having a lady beard, it really is a hard thing to deal with. The R.E.M Spring is a 100% stainless steel tool designed specifically for facial hair removal. It's a great natural way to rip the hair out from the root, so it takes longer to come back and grows back finer over time. It also works great for peach fuzz on the cheeks! I've been testing this since November, and I've already noticed it hurts less to use and I've had a smoother face which has been incredible. BTW the tool is pronounced "R.E.M Spring" not Rem Spring. Think of the band R.E.M and you've got it!

I've been watching for years and it really made me cry watching this video. Learning that someone I admire, who continually inspires me to love who I am, has the same health issues I do made me feel so validated and relieved. Watching this and reading the comments from women who share the same problems made me feel a lot less alone and ashamed.

I’m soooo glad I’m not the only person that has to deal with having a lady beard! I also have pcos and my lady beard grows back super thick, dark and insanely quickly! Buy some witch hazel and apply before you use your tool, witch hazel has a numbing effect on the on the skin, use it lightly, it also cleans the area around where you used your tool.

I legitimately started tearing up at the beginning of this video and then again when I came to read the comments. I've been struggling with PCOS for almost 15 years now. So many doctors, when discussing the unnatural body hair growth, dismiss it as being unimportant - I've even had one tell me it was just because of my Italian/French heritage and I should get over it. They don't seem to realize that, for me, the hair growth was more debilitating and psyche-damaging than the weight gain. That's why I appreciate the open honesty in your video, Cora -- you get it. Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to give it a try and see if I can finally stop shaving every damn day. ❤️

I've been a long time subscriber and watcher of you and tho I don't comment often I kinda feel like I have to now. I don't think I've ever clicked on a video so quickly from you before and generally I watch most if not all of your videos. But I'm not even gonna lie to you, I also suffer from facial hair as well as hair on other parts of my body and it's probably the one thing that messes HARDCORE with my self-esteem. I shave every single day and sometimes I skip a day if I'm gonna be home so the following day I can get a really close shave. I've been doing this for YEARS. I'm 100% ordering one of these. I don't care how much it hurts or stings because I'm so tired of having this hair. And the fact that my hair is dark makes it so much worse. You almost took a weight off my shoulders knowing that I'm not alone in this! Thank you 100x for putting this video up. If I could hug you right now I totally would! 💚💚💚

Hun your so not alone. Im 48 and have been dealing with this since my early 20's. I even had 3 babies and got up and took a shower so I could look "presentable" for every one. Nurses thought I was wonder woman after my first because I had so many stiches, but. its something I had to do. Now I worry about getting old and cant do things for myself. I know its crazy, but I can't help to worry. I swear if something happened to me, i would grow a full beard. My bff said she wouldnt let that happen, and that my friend is why she is my ride or die.

PCOS bearded lady here. The best solution for me (after years of trying everything) is electric shaver all over (not as irritating as close shave), laser for the dark hairs and electrolysis for the thick blonde ones. Both laser and electrolysis are expensive but so worth it for me. Honesty I was spending lots of money on all the other methods anyway so it wasn't that much more. Major reduction in growth and much more manageable.
@SassPot.CassPot

I'm with you! Laser has worked so well for me, my facial hair was very dark. Not having a hairy face has also given me so much more self-confidence, so the cost of my treatments has been totally worth it ❤️

Oh my God. I literally bought the R.E.M spring after watching this. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2016 and it was the most horrible diagnosis of my life. When trying to have a baby and it's not happening... You feel broken.. Then you get this diagnosis and not only does it make you feel like a factory defect but it comes along with really gross symptoms that aren't pretty. The "ladybeard" and hormonal acne have to be the other worse symptoms. I'm so allergic to the oils and what not in the wax process. So I've been a tweezing fool for so long. And my hairs get as long as my husband's beard 😭 I can't thank you enough for this recommendation because I can finally get rid of the hair quicker and feel better about myself. 😭 💕

IF YOU HAVE THICK CORSE HAIRS THIS IS GOING TO BE YOUR GO-TO!! I would shave and tweeze my chin hairs and it took me forever to tweeze every single hair and when I would shave it grew back thicker the next day. Bought this yesterday and I freakin love it! So much easier! BUY IT YOU WONT REGERT IT 💕💕❕❕

I've heard about products like this, but I was never sure. It is nice to see someone testing and giving a positive review. I've been dealing with facial hair since I was a teenager. Though I know that it is not my fault, I will say it is something that has caused me a lot of anguish. There is that feeling that I'm not as feminine as I think, or that is is something to be ashamed of. Though I have worked hard to banish those feelings, it is still a hard thing to deal with. I'm always on the lookout for a better way to deal with this. So thank you for sharing your results and thoughts on the product.

I'm sending you a virtual hug, absolutely how I felt, and still feel sometimes, I have strong hair from brow to toe, a child told me I had hairy arms like a man. I hope to eventually laser as many areas as I can, my skin might be too sensitive for true laser, I might go with the older IPL which has been working well on my face and lower back.

I am so happy that I stumbled upon your channel! I am 63 and for the last 10 years I have fought the stubble battle!! I clicked your link for the Spring Hair Removal tool and ordered it. I received it in 2 days! Let me just say - this morning I woke up for the first time in YEARS without stubble. It took a bit of practice to get things going - and may I recommend that you really stress the fact that you need to twist one end to catch the hair. Once I got that down I spent an hour just removing all that hair that I was constantly shaving or trying to wax. I keep touching my face, because I can't believe how smooth my skin feels. Thank you so much!!

❤❤❤❤ I have a PCOS lady beard, and I have been curious about these coils. Currently the method that works best for me is epilating the thicker hairs in the random areas they are, and then shaving my whole beard area to get the peach fuzz the epilator doesn't get. BUT like you I kinda like doing things like that while sitting and watching TV or whatever and an electric epilator is super load. Also not even remotely discrete or travel friendly. Thank you for posting videos like this! I've been a subscriber for a long, long time. I'm continuing to love the content you put out and they are just getting more and more relatable! All the best!

I have struggled with the facial hair for years and it's a topic I've been massively ashamed of for most of my life. I've tried bleaches and chemical removers but always ended up falling back on a razor because it was the best results for me. I'm excited to try this product and maybe stress just a little bit less about the dark, dark hair growing on my face, so thank you Cora for keeping it real and sharing the slightly embarrassing sides of life with us, too. It's amazing how powerful the feeling is when you realize "Oh hey, I'm NOT the only one who has to deal with this," and it's doubly awesome when someone you look up to shows their human side. This is why I've been following you for years and hope to one day be as confident and fabulous as you. 😍😍

Thank you so much for being willing to be open and honest about this! I have dealt with coarse facial hair since I was 16 (now 28), also a symptom of PCOS. It has taken a serious psychological toll on me--I felt like I was the only woman on Earth who dealt with it and I avoided social situations and even going to work some days because I felt like everyone could see this beard, even after I shaved it off. About a year ago, fed up with plucking, I started electrolysis, which has has been painful, but worth it!

Girl, I feel ya! My "lady beard" started coming in about the same time as the grey hair - right before my 25th birthday. I used to pluck until finally there was just too damn much to effectively pluck. Tried Nair; got an unholy chemical burn and the hair remained. Tried one of those "sand the hair away" gimmicks and sanded the damn skin off of my face! I never tried shaving, because I am clumsy AF and I would totally cut myself. Back to the creams: started using Avon, which did remove the hair, but still left the chemical burns. It was so disheartening... But who wants to be known as the bearded lady??? I finally started buying strip-wax kits. They work better than anything else I have ever used - hair gone, pain nothing compared to the chemical burns the creams gave me. However, I don't wear makeup, so I don't have the same kind of skin issues (I have nothing against makeup; I just never learned how to apply it and am too damn old to go through that awkward teenager I-did-my-own-makeup phase, lol). I'll have to check this little guy out. Wax kits are expensive, and it takes a lot of prep and cleanup for 30 seconds of hair removal. Thanks for the honest review!

Hey Cora! Long time viewer, not so often commenter. I bought this and I must say it’s pretty awesome. It does rip the hair out and there is a pinch but it lasts so much longer than shaving or even my go to tweezing. (Sorry about my long-winded reply) I really appreciate this video. I also have facial hair. Mine comes from having a thyroid-related autoimmune disease and thyroid cancer. My hair was really major and thick and dark. It eased up a little bit after I started my thyroid medication and got the cancer out, but it was still full on lady beard. I have to shave every day I leave the house. I started using Tria, which is an at-home laser hair removal system. My husband did a lot of research on it and bought it for me for Christmas about a year or so ago. It has worked WONDERS. I still have hair and still need to shave when I go somewhere, but I have MUCH LESS of it and it isn't as dark. But shaving every day still causes irritation and that can make my getting ready and makeup routine a lot longer than most people's. It is always a cause of stress for me in going on vacation and the like. I was wondering how long does the hair take to grow back when you use the spring? I went ahead and bought one to start testing things out. I am going on vacation to Iceland, Liverpool, and Scotland this summer and I do not want to have to shave every day and worry about it all. Using the laser treatment has made me more confident, but it is still something to worry about. And while tweezing is not something I am supposed to be doing to the hair during the laser treatment process, I think this might be a good alternative leading up to and during the long trip.

I have PCOS as well, I pluck maybe like every other day cause my chin hairs come in thick and quick. I’m sorry you also have to deal with the PCOS side effects, but it is nice to hear more people share what their experiences are like. Thank you for being so open and empowering. 💖🙌🏽👯‍♀️

Whhhhhaaaaaat!? I don’t have pcos but deal with the greatly unwanted facial hair. I stopped waxing years ago and just stood with tweezing but after you sharing this? I need to get this ASAP ! Thank you !! I’m so glad I’m not alone and you’re able to help .

I, too, have PCOS, and struggle with some of the same issues you do, such as facial hair. Thank you for putting this information out there. One thing I would add is that if anyone suspects they may have it, they should discuss it with their doctor. Over the years, I’ve taken several medications that have helped me control those annoying symptoms and increase my quality of life. Also, can I just say that YES, I absolutely wanted you to talk about your fabulous purple hair!? I recently added some purple to my red and I’m really into it. 😁

Also ordering this right now! I have PCOS and endometriosis, soooo figuring out the facial hair issues has been a process I have certainly not enjoyed. Thank you for posting!

The best way to reduce the pain and allow the hair to come out easier is to take a hot shower beforehand or a hot towel on the face first. I love this tool and use it all the time.

Thank you so much for this video! As a relatively "new" bearded lady I still look for the better way to remove the worst of my ladybeard. I will definitely try this :) and thank you for always keeping it super real and relateable ❤

Girl, I love you. I laughed hysterically watching the mustache clip because THAT IS ME when I try to tweeze my mustache. It's already ordered and I can't wait to not spend fifteen minutes every morning and night tweezing out chin hairs. Why do they grow so fast?!

Oh man. I've tried one of these before and I could never get past the insane stinging on my upper lip. Maybe I'll try the witch hazel trick someone posted. You should've seen MY facial expressions!

I don’t let anyone touch my face I also worry when someone hugs me that they will feel my prickly chin or neck. Even my own son. I wear my hair down so it can hide my face just in case I missed a spot. I try my best every morning to take care of it but there’s only so much I can do. I’ll give this a try. Maybe one day I won’t panic when someone comes close to me or touches me.

I've tried everything and I have been so discouraged by still have facial hair :( i feel so unattractive. And some solutions only work for a few days (i.e shaving and waxing) I totally think now after hearing you speak about it I will start to be more confident! Stay well!

Soft metal springs are amazing, I just had a random spring in a drawer and it works perfectly and it's so fast and easy, no more trying to get the perfect lighting to see them first! My tweezers are even optimized by sanding the sides slightly, and it's insane trying to find each one. Also no more wax cleanup that takes forever that you can't skip if something comes up and worrying about wax getting on nice clothes~

I have pcos and have managed to reverse all the symptoms with diet, however the facial hair still hangs around! It’s not as bad as what it once was but I still have to shave every couple of days which is so annoying as sometimes I forget! Can’t wait to try this wee tool!

Welp, if the stupids in DC ever get their shit together and start paying me again, I'm definitely getting this. I wax, but it doesn't get the little "baby" hairs very well and I always end up tweezing. This looks awesome! Thanks, Cora! Hope your link (and your precentage) still works when the time comes!

Ok I need to give this a try on my thick European neck hairs. I mainly go with plucking, but some are so hard to see, and my neck hurts from craning to see thing. With this it looks like I don’t have to see what I’m trying to pluck, the spring will just feel it out for me. Sold.

Would you mind doing a video on PCOS..? I have it and am so glad to know I’m not alone. Im very self conscious and having PCOS makes me feel more ashamed of who I am and how I look. Being a newlywed, married to a husband who wants kids, I’m starting to become depressed that i may never be able to conceive. I’d like to get an insight on how you deal with this type of issue and what you do to cope..

I had no idea you had PCOS! I have PCOS also and I have dove into research this past few months since I've stopped my birth control to try and get symptoms under control. Thank you so much for this video! I have been just shaving my lady beard for years at this point after trying other things and it's the only thing that doesn't bother me after I use a certain shaving cream and a hot razor. I will have to check this out! Thank you so much again

While I don't have PCOS, my ethnicity's dark hair gives me a pretty good mustache and dark face fuzz. I have a drugstore version of this, and it's been great! So much better than shaving.

I am horribly ashamed of having to shave on a daily basis (also PCOS here). It makes me feel un-feminine and my skin breaks out insanely. I have sensitive skin which gets horrible razor burn and I try to cover it the best I can with full coverage foundations. I really dont jnow what to do anymore. Your skin looks so beautiful. Mine is wretchedly irritated. I feel so ugly and manly.

Hopefully this doesn't come off wrong to other people but it's another thing I love about you . Very relatable...while a lot of youtubers would be like, oh, I go to this med spa and I get laser hair removal and I do this and this and this (all things that cost a lot of money)..but you are just more down to earth.. you share the struggle and all that. Hopefilly that all makes sense lol

Thank you for this video. This is the first time I've seen one of your vids, and I gotta say...I'm soooo happy it popped up in my recommendations. I'm post menopausal, I don't get much unwanted hair, but what I do get gives me the irats. I seem to get a clump a bit bigger than a soft drink bottle lid, on one side of my chin, as they are mostly grey/white/transparent, they can be a little hard to get at. At the moment I'm at the mini torch and hand mirror in one hand juggle and tweezers in the other stage. And I can tell you, it's a pain in the ring gear. I also have the upper lip tenderness, due to electrolisis scarring, that can be eye-watering to pluck! If this little gadget is as good as you say, it sounds like a winner!! I might just have to get me one!! :)
