A lot of us are unable to see anything that says background removal, any idea why this is? OBS is up to date and the 2 files have been copy pasted into the obs folder.
I am not able to find Colour option on the filter also with the plugin provided filter is coming under Effects itself and not in Audio/Video Filters Any help ?
Question: Background Removal is NOT available in A/V filters, but is available in "Effects Filters". Has this simply been moved to another area? It still seems to operate the same as you mention, although I don't seem to have any options for greenscreen/etc.
Hi, in my case i dont have the option to change background color. My background removel apear on effect filters but dont apear on audio/video filters. Can you help me?
@@embranken Yeah, I don't know what they changed. To fix this, I downloaded an older version of the plugin. If you scroll down you can keep looking for other versions. I downloaded the 0.4.0 (which was in page 3), and that fixed it.
i've followed this many, many times. For me I only get the option to add the remove background filters under effects not video and audio. Under effect there is no color option to add the GREEN screen when you select the background remover. It works but it means as I do not have the green screen it's not so accurate. Aaah, I just read the latest comments section in the plugin page, developers removed the color option to make it simple.
I followed your video and it's a great step by step, but some things has changed within the plugin you may not be aware of and might want to update. 1st, it now appears in the 'Effects Filter' section, and 2nd, the ability to choose the background color is gone. Everything matches your example except those two. The properties menu now stops at CPU threads and goes no farther. There is no scrolling down. No color selection means I can't make the background green, which means I can't 'greenscreen' it anymore. You might have no upgraded recently to see this, and be wary if you do, as the ability to alter the background color will go away.
I had exacly same issue with you, I'll try to find background removal 1.0 version like in this video. The thing we download was version 1.15, maybe this make a difference.
Great plugin and amazing video tutorial. Thank you. I use it with a Mac M1 and the "Background Removal" shows only up in "Effect Filters" but not in "Audio/Video Filters". Any idea how to fix that? Also, I can not choose a background color in the settings of the background removal plugin. Is this because I need to apply and adjust it in "Audio/Video Filters" (which is apparently not showing up) ?
I redid this SEVERAL times and it always ended up under the EFFECT FILTERS. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I even removed my webcam completely. I was not able to change the background color either. Everything worked fine otherwise, but I am not sure if its just because i'm using OBS29.3.1or not. Any thoughts?
Hi, after following the steps, the background removal option is still not showing under Audio/Video Filters. Any help is greatly aprreciated. Thank you
This did not work for me at all. I followed each step, but the option for Background Removal did not appear in my Audio/Visual filters menu. I use Windows, and I made sure to update OBS before trying this. Anyone have any tips?
Hmmm. I added the plugins as noted, opened OBS and then followed your steps but I did not see Background Removal as one of the options. I restarted OBS twice with no luck. Thoughts?
For those commenting about the option to insert a background color being gone, the plugin now uses transparency, which will allow you to insert any picture or other media into your scene behind your webcam image. I assume this is more efficient than chroma key, but either way this works fine.
@@FJamesPrice But thats missing the point isnt it? Putting your webcam on top of your image, does not do anything at all about removing the background of your webcam. It just colors your background a bit, you still see all the objects in your room behind you. Unless I misinterpreted what you said
Great video, but the background removal option does not show up for me in my webcam filters. I have installed the plugin, unzipped it and copy/pasted it into the obs folder exactly as you showed in the video, but the filter is simply not showing up :/
Thank you so much! Just a note for other newbies like me: if you install the Background remover plugin and cannot find it under Audio and Video Filters, you can find it under "Effect Filters"
I have done everything needed, I downloaded and updated the files, and still do not see "Background Removal" appear at all in my OBS. Everything was downloaded to the right folder and OBS is up to date.
Did everything you told me to in the video, still is NOT working. I go into filters and nothing under "background removal" is there. Idk what to do Ive watched so many tutorials
Hello Gauging, thank you for sharing. I followed your direction but couldn't remove the background to replace it with a new image because my OBS version is 28.1.2. This version does not have the icon "Background Removal". Could you please share how to do it on the OBS version 28.1.2? Thank you in advance!
This is an awesome easy to follow video so thanks so much for your help and I'm happy to subscribe to your channel. I have only one issue. In advanced settings I'm seeing all of the options available but... I'm not seeing an option for "background color". Do you have any suggestions?
@@scitxo No but since asking I've stopped using a background as it caused problems when trying to show people documents. The camera would no longer focus on a document or anything on paper which I often show my viewers.
@@CATFISHTYLER it turns out that it just switches everything to transparent that’s behind you, so on OBS you just put a different layer behind you and automatically set your background to transparent
Man whenever I look for tutorials I usually have to go through like 5 of them just to get a halfway decent one, but man you're the first one I found when looking into this and you made it very concise and easy to follow, thanks a bunch!
for mac the filter background removal in effect filters not audio/video filter, second thing on the settings of the plugins i cannot found to chose background colors
Hi, great content and channel, subbed and liked, I downloaded your background removal software 0.5.1 on mac m2 but I don't know what to do after I install it. On you tutorial you copy and paste the two files but on mac I cant find the two files in the downloaded pkg.
i have an issue,,, my background removal on obs not showed,, i've been try in your tutorial, but not happen at my obs,,, including i have twice replace data removal background.... what should i do,,,
Found a way to fix the frame drop, (I'm using ryzen 7 5800x) Where it says calculate mask every x frame at the bottom of the background removal page- change the 1 to a 2. The Higher the number- less cpu stress. Doesn't look as clean though
Help please! I did everything he said up to 1:38> I've added my camera, I can see it in OBS but when I click on filters -> + I do NOT see background removal, I see 3-band equalizer. I really, really want this to work for school. Thank you!
After I installed the Background Removal, the Effect Filters is not having the background colour option or is it that the latest background removers version I downloaded doesnt have it
ok... this is extremely frustrating... i downloaded and installed this background removal plugin exactly like it is shown in this video... i closed obs, then restarted obs... they i create video capture device, selected my webcam... then, i go into filters as it is shown in this video... there is NO "background removal" options anywhere in filters... i looked everywhere in obs... did NOT see background removal anywhere... so, what am i doing wrong??? i watched this video 4 times, and when i try to duplicate what is shown, i DO NOT get the same results as its displayed in this video.. so again, what am i doing wrong????
Excellent video! This was exactly what I was looking for - very nicely paced, informative, and easy to follow! Subscribed :) Also, I'll make sure to check out the rest of your OBS tutorials.
How you do it if you want the Screen of your Computer Desktop for a Screencast as Background? Not an Image or Video? Do you have a Video for this Setup?
Not a fan of this at all. The CPU usage of this plugin is INSANE almost 40% CPU on a Ryzen 9 5900x used just to remove a background???? Chroma Key is a much better solution uses nowhere near the amount of processing and much better and tighter looking subject
Mine doesn't have the option to adjust the Background Color. It's also appearing only under "Effect Filters" and not "Audio/Video Filters." Anyone know why that's happening and a fix to get it to appear?
idk if things have changed in the last year but after following installation steps, the option to add a filter for removing background went to effect filters, not audio/video filters. While adding the filter still makes it attempt to remove the background, there are no color option for adding a green screen to help with the edges
@@GaugingGadgets but I have a rtx 3090 and my cpu get destroyed making my stream lag skip frames etc any updated feedback at all even when I press gpu still makes my obs cpu go to 44% and loss of 91% frames once streaming
I followed your steps to download the plugin. Couldn't get it to function. I did, however, get it to partially work when I ran the executable instead of copying to to the obs-studio folder. But I only see "Background Removal" in the "Effect Filters" frame, not in "Audio/Video Filters. And the quality is poor at best. Regardless of the feathering quality adjustments. Advice?
Thx for the tip ! But even tho I don't have significant increase in my CPU or GPU usage, my scene frame rendering time jumped from less than 2ms to 10ms, and some spikes above 1000/60 ms resulting in frame drop. I ended up using the zoom desktop client which have background removal feature, settings the background to a green image, adding a window capture in OBS, adding a crop filter to remove the name and window title then a chroma key filter to remove the green background. Work as well visualy, my frame redering is still at around 2ms and my CPU and GPU aren't significantly impacted. So for those with modest hardware like me, might be another solution if the mentionned plugin cause problem ^^
How to add an image or video behind now that Color is not part of the plugin. Follow all the other steps in the video - with 2 changes 1) When you right click your webcam and select filters hit + under Effect Filters not Audio/Video Filters to find Background Removal plugin. there is no Color setting background will be black 2) Hit + In Sources and add an image you want for a background. Or you can also add video by selecting >Media Source just remember to loop so it doesn't finish. Make sure the WebCam is higher up the Sources list than the image or video.
Nice video, great content but No thank you. Without the background removal, my CPU is running at 22-25% and when i enable the background removal it goes straight up to 95-98%. Even if i change the interface device to GPU, no changes in GPU and CPU stills 95-98%. I have a i9 9900k and a RTX 2070super.
I Actually tried many times, changing stettings etc BUT i have to come to the conclusion that : if You want to achieve a good result, You Have to BUY a REAL Green Screen ... !!! We all like FREE plugins but Quality has a price !!!! Obviously, if you are satisfied with rather modest results, even free solutions can be fine!
