Remove Red Hair Dye At Home with Minimal Damage 

If you have colored your hair red or another fashion color and are ready for a change, this method of stripping the color out may be a good option. I am using some very cheap Dandruff Shampoo and Vitamin C tablets from Target. The entire cost of the big bottle of shampoo and the vitamins was under $10.
**Please note that I DID use bleach on my hair to achieve the blonde look. However, with the right treatments, my hair suffered minimal damage. The dandruff shampoo and vitamin c did work to remove all of the red, leaving me with a coppery brown color that I could have toned, but I wanted blonde, so I went ahead and did bleach my hair.
Whenever I bleach my hair I add a tablespoon or two of melted coconut oil to the bleach mixture just to help protect my hair (who knows if it works) and help retain some moisture.
This method (dandruff shampoo and vitamin c) is a bit drying on your hair and I would recommend doing a hair treatment with the products below, which I used during and after this process.
