HydraFacial Keravive is a scalp-care treatment that's meant to cleanse, stimulate, nourish, and hydrate the scalp for healthier hair. Insider's Caroline Aghajanian visited OrangeTwist in Westlake Village, California, to try the treatment on her scalp. Licensed master esthetician Amanda LaMoure uses the HydraFacial Beta-HD solution with the HydraFacial Vortex Technology to exfoliate any oil, dirt, and debris away to prep the scalp for the peptide solution. Then she infuses a biomimetic peptide complex into the scalp that detects what the scalp is lacking and mimics those cells to deliver what it needs, like hydration or oil control. Each treatment comes with a take-home spray to be used every day for 30 days. Benefits of the treatment include relieving itchiness and inflammation for dry scalps, increased hydration, increased volume, and hair-growth stimulation. Caroline documents her before and after shots with a microscope to see how the treatment has changed her scalp. Insider also filmed with two other clients to see how well this treatment works on different scalps and hair types. One in-office treatment with a take-home spray treatment costs between $500 and $700 depending on location. Typically customers will need three treatments for the full benefits. Caroline received a discounted media rate to try this treatment for Beauty Insider.

If you have build-up, use a clarifying shampoo. When shampooing your hair, use a shampoo brush. If you're having scalp issues, see a dermatologist. That would be much cheaper than even one $700 treatment.

Unless your scalp produces enough oil to cook with, don’t get it removed. The oil is meant to be there. It’s not an inconvenience, it’s meant to trap dirt. That’s why you wash the oil out as you wash your hair. There should only be as much oil there as your hair needs.

I am so skeptical. I’m not a doctor, but I do have a background in biology. Any doctors out there please chime in. I am questioning the efficacy of delivering “peptides” this way. Peptides are very big and the skin has several layers, how would delivering them topically provide a noticeable benefit? I know that hair loss can be due to hormonal changes as well as damage over time. Does removing hair in its last phase like they said this treatment does actually promote hair growth? I feel like there are too many variables at play to make that statement. While cleansing your scalp well is important, part of me feels like this treatment is too abrasive and may damage hair/hair follicles, AKA promoting hair loss :(

if you have dry, flaky scalp (but not dandruff), you can mix coarse sea salt with a deep conditioner and use that to exfoliate your scalp and get rid of those flakes. i got this from a magazine way back in the day, and it worked for me. i use a small container and mix up a batch immediately before i get in the shower. it does not store well. shampoo hair like normal and then use the mixture and make sure to get your scalp really well. let it sit for a couple of minutes. rinse out. i normally condition my hair again just with conditioner afterwards. it might work for dandruff, but i’m not sure. you can also use jojoba oil to moisturize your scalp. just rub some oil in your palms and fingers and give yourself a scalp massage.

@@singhsarah265 Do you know if this applied to all hair types? I have 4c and I can’t imagine doing that.
@beatm6948
@beatm6948 3 года назад
It depends on the hair. A lot of people with straight hair DO need to wash everyday, while many people with curly hair should only wash once a week.
@lisahope6876
@lisahope6876 3 года назад
@@seraph3m depends on hair texture and scalp needs. I for instance need to wash every other day when my dandruff plays up usually in summer and when exercising and the build up of sweat makes my scalp itchy but winter time I can go 4/5 days. My hair type is thick and straight but usually people with curly hair and afros don't need to daily wash because their scalps are more on the dryer side.

If you have build up, a clarifying shampoo will help, or you can use a bit of sugar or baking soda mixed in with normal shampoo, and rub in the scalp. If it's dandruff (either dry or greasy) then you need tea tree oil shampoo or a bit of tea tree oil mixed in with normal shampoo. Oh and no conditioner in the roots, and cut down on hair styling products, gels, hairspray etc can build up and leave gunk in the roots. Wash hair brushes regularly too.

A facial on your scalp? Um… Isn’t a facial and your scalp two different things? The facial is designed for your face to get rid blackheads, whiteheads, acne, etc. Why would it be used to clean your scalp? That’s shampoo and conditioner’s job. 🤨😑

I've had flakes for years and started to use a comb in the shower to pretty much scrape my scalp. It was very time consuming and no fun. I decided to try Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength. And it cleared up! It actually worked. Ever since, I have not had an issue. Almost a year later and I still feel like a person who does not have dandruff. Try it!

I kind of have a problem with this because there is a bacteria that lives on our scalp and eats our dead skin up there. It can cause dandruff, but it also attacks harmful bacteria that could hurt us and she's basically sucking up at the places where they live. her scalp is unprotected now :o

It’s probably the products she’s using. Plus, washing your hair everyday often makes the scalp produce more sebum, which could be part of the reason her hair is so oily.

$700 is a scam. You can easily exfoliate your scalp at home. You can either use brown sugar and/or coffee grounds, essential oils and honey or blue agave. If you rather not go through all of that, there’s scalp exfoliates you can buy at Target or Sally’s Beauty. The brand I use and works best is TPH Never Salty Scrub. It’s only 12-13 dollars and last a long time; works like a charm.

@gosick442

Because we all have $700 to go to a place where they a device where they suck out all of the "gunk" on your scalp when I can buy myself a clarifying shampoo and a scalp massager. Not all those hair oils are bad and are supposed to be there to literally protect your hair.

That's not true! It depends on the scalp. I need to wash my hair daily as I have an oily scalp. If I didnt wash my hair for just a day, the oil in my scalp and hair is enough to make my hair smells and greasy, and then it will cause hair loss.
