I have an old M35 army truck. I tried like hell to remove the Budd spud nuts with the half-assed bar and socket the army used. What a waste of time. I stood on a cheater bar and bent the cheater bar. I knew there had to be a better way. I searched on RU-vid for how to remove stuck nuts on large trucks. This video was the first one I saw. I promptly found a similar unit on Amazon. It was $69. With tax came to around $74.00. Just used it this morning. My God what a difference. I loosened 6 budd nuts on a wheel in about one minute. An ingenious and simple tool. I'm so glad I found this video. Best $75, I've spent yet. Thanks for the video.
Retired diesel mechanic. We used very heavy 1” drive 40lb impact guns with ex trembly hi air pressure. Don’t forget having a spoon or crowbar to lift rim back on , tires are very heavy. Peace
I just went and bought this tool after trying everything else this tool work fantastic I highly recommend it thank you for your video it just saved me a lot of money and time
I have used that torque multiplier tool but it is heavy and not very easy to use.And than I baught Milwaukee 1/2 inch drive brushless impact wrench, super fast and easy.If you are not careful eith torque multiplier you might loose a wheel or break studs. With Milwaukee I put setting power torque setting on #2 and when it stops it is perfectly torqued and safe.
Got one similar for undoing the nuts on our timber harvester wheels, absolutely brilliant after struggling with lengths of scaffold bars. Used it to tighten up a wheel bearing to 2500ftlbs with my 300lb torqie wrench, not sure how accurate the multiplication was, but we did a better job than the previous owner !
Thank you Urfan for this valuable information. this is exactly what i was looking for. Quick question dose this thing tight back lug nuts the torque tires needs to be! Thanks, and God bless.
The point of this tool is to mainly get you out of a jam, I would tighten it as much as possible and then perhaps stop off at a shop to get it torqued right…. Unless you can buy a tool to torque it.
Just curious if you have a smaller compressor that wasn’t able to drive the one inch impact. Because like a 80 gallon with a larger diameter hose would probably do it. I know even with car lug nuts you can’t use small diameter air hoses like the slinky ones if that’s what you used.
Its good tool but if you have a impact wrench you can connect to your own truck air system near your AIR DRYER ASSEMBLY THROUGH A RUBBER HOSE AND A QUICK COUPLER
Interesting I've been using the Earthquake XT 20v impact to remove mine for 2 years without issues. It only fails if the battery isn't full. I also use the Quinn digital torque adapter to tighten back down to 500 ft/lbs
Honestly this method is only to get you out of a jam… but I have through trial and error gotten close enough… I basically get them back on as tight as possible with my dewalt and then use this torque converter to turn it an additional 6-8 times…
Great info! As a non mechanic and a non truck driver, after the nut gets loose why can’t you use the “useless “ drill to back off the nuts? Probably cause everyone knows that.
I actually have one too that i used on a charter bus to loosen the lugs. They wouldnt budge. Bent the tool to shit. Come to find out the threads left hand lugs. Dont know how i missed it because i looked at the threads but i somehow did.
Grease it. Otherwise it well get hot, and the gear teeth will break inside, also try to help it out by spraying lug nuts with wd40, and let it set for about 30 minutes. Be safe out there brother.
Remove the snap ring on top of the unit, then you can get grease inside where the planetary gears are. I opened mine up when I got it. It has grease in it.
That's a great low price option 100% amazing. It doesn't take place of a Milwaukee impact, or a 1in air gun, it is in a lane by itself. I bet it could be used in other situations and be a life saver too!
Ain't just Milwaukee anymore either. DeWalt DCF900 eats the 2767 for lunch now, and the most insane thing of all is the Harbor Freight/Hercules "Ultra Torque" is the strongest 1/2" on the planet. No, that isn't a joke, lol.
