YOU, my friend, are a life-saver! Had some micro-stutters before. Now the game seems to be running fine. Will update if I run into anything. Thank you again!
You are an absolute legend. Thank you. Stuttering pissed me off, it would randomly throw me off and would just always be a major annoyance but this fixed it. Thank you again!
I just got a 6750XT and this video helped alot, i still got some stuttering (mainly in destiny 2), hopefully some tuning via the AMD Adrenalin app will fix that but stilla big thanks for the major reduction of the stuttering!
thanks for the video i was stuttering in all games with my 6700xt i did most of the things in the video and it has seemed to clear up the stutter thanks again
Helped me a lot with ryzen 5600x and RX 6600 combo. For me the most important was disabling HPET and setting minimum GPU clock (i set it to 1600 MHz). I had a lot of stuttering in Lost Ark RU and it's fixed now. Thanks !
I installed the newest drivers that fixed almost everything and set the clock from 500 to 1000 like on your video etc and other things and its perfect now, fixed at 100% thank you :)
@@ItzMurkz Hi i just have the newest drivers from amd right now and its working everything well on amd software like on the video we put the clock instead 500 we put 1000 and its ok, all fixed here. i think the newest amd drivers already fix everything by itself anyway :)
@@bailey7915 When i got my red devil Rx 6700 Xt that happen to me on all games and i was like "wtf this cant be" on amd software - power tuning - put that on then put it on MAX then you will have all the power the graphic card requires because somehow the software its limitating the power to the graphic card by default and its too less and makes the graphics to lag etc in games, so put the power tuning to max - power limit 15 and activate gpu scaling i think thats all
Thanks for the video man. Unfortunately after trying EVERYTHING my Destiny still stutters like crazy. It goes away after a while, but it ALWAYS comes back if I don't play the game for a while, or if I install a new AMD graphics driver. I realized it is like the driver is relearning everything in the game, like if someone pops an ability I haven't seen since I updated it stutters. So it is like I have to play crucible to render all the different types of VFX and etc. After a few hours or days it goes away, but it is so annoying and distracting when it happens. I really hope Bungie will do something about it eventually :(
I am sorry I couldn't help you, granted this video is a little old by now but the basics still stay the same, though these days I do things a little differently. Destiny 2 is just a mess at this point, but yes, the stuttering due to shaders being compiled after new drivers are installed is normal, if bungie had a system like COD or hell, Horizon Zero Dawn where it caches all your shaders when you first start the game all of these issues would be gone. The trick with the crucible is also what I used to do when I still played to compile the shaders as quickly as possible. as for if bungie will do something about it.. I wouldn't hold your breath... the D2 engine is ancient, and I can't see them putting any effort whatsoever into making it more efficient, if they make a D3 on a newer engine then yes, I can see these issues being a thing of the past. Cheers
You know I was thinking about that just a while ago!!. Every time I update my driver it stutters like crazy. GTAV is crazy wild stutter. I always create system image before I update to a new driver. So when the stutter happens in the new driver I go back to my old windows which has the amd old drivers and the stuttering stop. So now I agree with your statement!!
@@babylorvbeats well I have good news for you, the newer versions of DDU have an option (that is enabled by default, so be sure to disable it) to wipe your shader cache folder or not, that should help tremendously with new driver installs.
@@ChrisHazard Hi thanks for the info but I always use "Amd clean up utility" to wipe out old drivers before new drivers but I will try what you suggested.
tried it righ not and didnt help unfortunatly i think i messed up something with my system, iahve w11 right now and downloaded te 22.7.1 driver for minecraft which destroyed performance in destiny, now that i have gotten back to 22.5.2 i still have little stutters that are very annoying, guess i gotta wait for some reccomended drivers and if that won't help i will format my ssd
internet will never cause fps stutters unless you are playing on maybe stadia or geforce now or another streaming service - I tried crucible tonight for the first time since Witch Queen was released, for sure some issues going on there, got a few stutters which I thought were maybe new shaders being created as once I played on a map for a second time they were gone, bungie seems to keep making the pc experience worse and worse with every patch :/
Yea I had a bunch of issues aswell. The easiest fix I found even easier than this was to swap the card with a 3080 ti. All the issues went away immediately it was crazy
how quickly people forget all of the launch issues the 3000 series had lol, ill take some software tweaking over having to nerf my card due to poor design any day of the week myself.
I can't deal with 6700XT stutter. No matter what I do I'm getting stutters to low 40s and seconds later FPS is back to normal 60+. Playing in 4K high setting. That's the case with my other games as well.
its 100% something else on your system, have you checked my other videos with regards to destiny 2 optimization? I go over a ton of things that cause stutter - if you have intel speedstep or amd cool and quiet enabled in your bios disable that but its for sure something else in your system.
@@ChrisHazard it's sorted now. In general it was as AMD Smart Access Memory turned ON in Bios that caused stutters. In destiny Destiny 2 lowering depth of field one below highest setting helped. I'm playing in 4K highest settings.
@@Ornal64 SAM shoudn't be causing stutters like you're experiencing, I still believe there is another underlying problem - you should disable depth of field altogether, your eyes do it naturally when you focus on something so why have it twice in a game, not to mention it is a huge fps tank in Destiny 2.
@@ChrisHazard I read about it and it seems to be the case in many builds. If might be driver and bios immature combo. To be clear I had my previous 3 years old Windows 10 install on MBR ssd and couldn't activate SAM - no stuttering with RX6700XT. Got fresh Windows 10 same ssd GPT format, SAM on and stutter all over the place, SAM off problem gone. That helped me, waiting for better AMD drivers. So far, so good and I'm enjoying my overpriced GPU.
@@Ornal64 same here bro, when i installed my new 6800xt i had old w10 installation, i only remove my previous nvidia drivers with ddu , the games was fine no stutter at all but i decided to have a fresh w10 install , then the stutters start...
Hello @ChrisHazard i have a radeon rx 6700 xt and if i start destiny than have the game a dont unsually color .... but the different color modes of Destiny 2 are already off? Can you help me pls ;(
Hi there, in my experience when the colours of the game are off its usually due to HDR being enabled in game, alternatively check the colour blind section in game as that will affect some things as well.
with my 6900xt i just turn off all freesyncs vsyncs framecaps and use the standard mode so none of amds low latency shit is turned on and it cut out the stuttering
thanks for the comment, I haven't tested with anti lag off, it was one of those things I just enabled and went on with my day, ill give it a shot in the future.
That min-frequency thing really helped, cheers! edit: just wanted to ask, when you perform a stress test on your 6900XT, how much power does it say it's drawing? For me it says 218W and I'm wondering if it's just not counting power drawn to the memory or something else is going on
awesome I'm glad it helped! the 6900 xt stock draws a lot less power than its capable of with stock settings, I use MorePowerTool and have mine set to 350w, it can go higher but without water cooling it I would rather be safer, in 3dmark it draws 350w, some games depending on the engine draw that as well, but most don't really.
Look up how to fix high vram clock issue with a program called CRU (custom resolution utility). You'll save yourself 20w of power in idle and your card will last longer.
Did you disable rebar in BIOS or in adrenaline? I disabled sam in the past (In adrenaline only) and can verify it does help in some titles, disabling it isn't something I did when I made this video so I'm glad you figured out how to fix your stutters, hopefully others can fix theirs as well. Cheers.
@@ChrisHazard I disabled it in BIOS and in the AMD Adrenaline Software. I even unistalled AMD Software and installed drivers only. Disabling MPO(Multi-Plane Overlay) could help. Also disabling ULPS in Regedit could help. IMPORTANT: Only change EnableUlps to 0 !! DO NOT CHANGE: EnableUlps_NA !! Regedit -> Ctrl+F ->EnableUlps -> set to 0- Press F3 to search for the next one and repeat until done. PS: I feel like getting a AMD card was the biggest mistake but imo Destiny is just garbage. 🤷♂
Chris, can you confirm what driver you're on currently and whether you're still experiencing issues? I followed your instructions to the T and the low FPS and stuttering issues persist. I'm half a nose-hair away from returning this card to Microcenter....
I'm currently still using 21.12.1, haven't had any issues in a long time, what other steps have you tried? I have another video outlining lots of other things one can do to eliminate stuttering, ISLC, disabling fullscreen optimizations globally and deleting windows gamebar are the huge ones, stuff as simple as pending windows updates and checks can cause issues, pause them for 7 days and it may help. let me know everything else you've tried and ill help the best that I can.
Quick question i have a 6750 i run 1440 on d2 for a while it was fine then. Lightfalll dropped and neoma was framedrop city started using rsr and everything was fine again. Today i updated my gpu driver and now im having drops again. Would turning up my frequency do the trick?
This one is easy, every time you update your GPU driver you have to rebuild your shader cache and Destiny 2 has some of the worst shader compilation optimization I've seen, the fastest way I found is load up crucible private matches and then run around the map to load in all of the assets. I don't know if there is a new crucible map on the new planet, so for that one you're just going to have to run around for a while. They seriously need a system like other games have where it builds it all the first time you load the game so none of this would happen.
Hey bro, I just bought a new pc 2 weeks ago and I had another one already that in games was suffering from stutters all of the time, and somehow this issue persisted in this new pc : GPU Rx6600 (I have tested the new and older drivers)Challenger D ASROCK 8gb CPU ryzen 5 5600 PSU PS-G600B (c3 tech) 600w (Tried using corsair CX600 600w too) SSD kingston 480gb Ram (2x16gb 3200MHz) Motherboard A520M-E (Latest Bios 3002) ASUS I've tried many solutions for this issue like formating, virtual memory, tried many times windows 11 and 10, gpu drivers using always DDU, turning off HDCP, disconnecting usb 3.0 cable from motherboard( for some people that solved it, kinda weird),Emptystandbylist, Vsync, Rivaturner, disabling tpm on bios, deactivating completely the gamebar from windows, tried 2 monitors and a TV, tried changing the power cable, tried to see if it still sttuttered without mouse/keyboard , tried disabling the high precision timer from windows... I made a video that shows what the issue is about ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WJ7gO3upKU0.html&ab_channel=HilanSanches
2024 and still AMD issues.. stuttering while game loads shaders mid combat. I’ve always been an AMD fan, but this is the last time I buy an AMD laptop or GPU. In all my years, I’ve always had issues with AMD gpus.
ya its very frustrating with games that don't pre-compile shaders, the only saving grace I suppose is when you DDU your drivers there is now an option you can check that won't wipe them out so at least they will remain after you compile them for the first time.
hey what do you think i should do? when i first installed my gpu after i bought it at msrp brand new i have a 1 inch thick black screen stuttering on top of my screen but disappeared as soon as i installed the amd software (adrenaline). but going to my bios for my mobo i see it again. infact with that black screen it makes the bios pretty un-accessible. i have 9900k and aorus elite pro mobo. should i RMA iT?
assuming your monitor is ok - I would change displayport or hdmi cables first to eliminate that as an issue, if you have another video card to test with as well that is always good.. process of elimination is always the step I take when troubleshooting - if everything else works fine ya I would rma the card for a new one, getting back bars at all isn't normal :/ hope you get it all sorted out.
@@ChrisHazard thank you for your input! so far i know that the monitor is fine because i had 1080ti then sold it and move to my AMD RX 470 back before getting my hands on a 6900xt i also DDU between nvidia and amd. tho i know my DP cable is old so buying a new one isnt a bad idea. i will let you guys know how it goes with the tech support and/or RMA process.
i would also like to add something. i saw that you have an NBminer. you see i came across your video because ever since i started mining, my GPU has been acting up DURING gaming. i always had rage mode on but never experience instability until i started mining. the fix i found so far is going to MANUAL tuning and by default i have 2400mhz on GPU tuning but after i dial it down to 2300 i havnt had any crash since and dial it down further to 2200mhz and all fans running at 60% even on idle. KINDA stupid on how you have a 2500mhz and i was on a 2400mhz and started crashing after i started mining... i am by no means saying that Mining ruins card. but i feel like AMD just cant handle mining as good as nvidia? MAYBE? just a guess.
@@roymustang08 try getting a DP 1.4 cable off Amazon as it could be old as you say, if that is not it, simply return it as Amazon has free returns :D as for mining, I don't mine in Windows - I run HiveOS off all my machines as its much better than mining in Windows in my opinion - I have not had any issues whatsoever playing games on my 6900 XT when im not mining, it sounds like your overclocks are acting up when you stop mining, try getting a USB drive and loading HiveOS (its free) and mine using that and let me know how it goes.
@@ChrisHazard i talked to my friend that is a crypto miner and has a lot of amd cards (rx 580) and said that it is typical for amd cards to do that black screen bar before installing the software. i found stability as of recent. none of the stuff i have mention above prove to be stable. what i found that DID work so far (day 2 without crashes PLAYING COD WZ and MULTIPLEYERS) is the bios switch being placed on the other side. i open up my pc to do quick maintenance such as dusting off the pc and i accidentally move the switch bios to the other side. after flipping it back to the previous position i havnt had any crashes YET. i wont RMA it. ill just come back to Nvidia and get myself a 3080 and sell my 6900xt after that. and im kinda scared to mine for now hahahahah tho scared coz of the low supply of gpu and it being pricy at the moment. i love gaming and dont care as much about crypto but mining is something id like to do as well.
@@ChrisHazard I tried that and all the games I tested are still stuttering. I have a Ryzen 3600 and a 6700 Xt so I am thinking it’s a cpu bottleneck. Also All the games I tried are on the same m.2 ssd so maybe it’s failing or having issues.
@@ManCaveTV1 a cpu bottleneck shouldn''t *really* cause stuttering, would usually just cap the amount of frames you can get in my experience. I have my money on windows settings, every time windows updates it makes more dumb changes that affect frame pacing, not to mention every amd driver update some games need to have their shaders recompiled which *always* stutters the first time you start a game, especially in destiny 2 as it doesn't cache the shaders prior to loading, like other games like breakpoint do. all I can suggest for testing is things like ISLC, stop windows updates, the bcdedit changes from my other optimize video and disable hpet in windows and bios and of course the amd driver tweaks. sorry I can't help more, life is super busy these days.
honestly I'm not sure, I haven't played destiny in a while, I don't like the direction the game is taking with abilities being so prevalent I decided to take a break until they make shooting more important than ability spam.
I have a red devil 6900 xt and a 5600x and unfortunately the stuff here did not fix it for me. This is really frustrating to say the least. It’s really annoying since every stutter is accompanied by a sound stutter too so every time it micro stutters the sound lags making a micro static sound, its driving me insane.
is it just destiny? sounds like a whole system problem, try downloading latencymon and run it and see whats causing the issues as sound lags are a good indicator of something else going on.
dude i could fucking kiss you, ive been searching for a week on how to fix the stuttering I was about to quit till I got a new pc i dont need all the frames just wanted a stable rate, thank you
I switched from a RTX 4060ti 8gb to a RX 7800xt. And now almost all games perform worse then even with my 3060ti. I got microstutters all over the place and destiny is almost unplayable. Sasly these tips did not help. I tried almost every solution on the internet. Why is the 7800xt performing worse with my cpu (8700k 5.1 ghz all cores) then the nvidia cards?
I haven't played destiny in forever so I have no idea what it's like these days, try disabling SAM and see if it helps, I have zero issues in any of my games minus the normal shader cache compile microstutter which goes away once caching is done. wish I could help more.
The major issues amd cards had previously was resolved months ago with a new driver release, I put out a video comparing the old drivers and the new (at the time) ones, issues as of Witch Queen launch are happening to both amd and Nvidia, mainly roster menus, character screen and destinations and that is all bungies fault, I am having no issues whatsoever with my 6900xt other than the above which should be fixed soon, what issues are you worried about?
my avg fps hovers around 220-250, only places it dips are the EDZ in Trostland, which is does with every pc as its not optimized after all this time. This video was more about stability rather than max fps as prior to the changes fps would drop consistently - since making this video I have used MorePowerTools and unlocked my max power and gained even more FPS, if you have a 6800/6900 its totally worth doing. Cheers
do you not have the options to click for advanced control? did you do a full driver installation or minimal or driver only? full installation is required to access the overclocking/tuning menu.
I have a MSI Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING Z TRIO with fps and core clock drops in BF 5, windows reinstalled, now downloading BF5 again and try with your settings. Please cross your fingers!
how did it go? I had some issues in BF5 as well, mainly crashes if I didn't have the minimum clock set just right, had to keep lowering it until it stopped being temperamental, no doubt there have been some fixes by now but it's been a while since I played BF5, wasn't a fan of the operator theme it's going for.
@@ChrisHazard Hi Chris, my problem was the new BIOS... I just flash back the older one and now is better. 100% Bungie has work to do, it doesn't help that they are still running on the old Halo Reach engine - I believe they made some changes with Beyond Light but ya, still has a way to go to be fully optimized though the new AMD drivers make the game very playable IMO.
Probably, I can't see why not, these tweaks work for mostly all games, destiny is just not the best optimized game out there, I quit destiny a while ago, so I don't know what it's like now though.
sure I will record some clips and throw up an unlisted video if you want, I can tell you though at 200% render resolution on jav 4 I get 140-160, at 100% 150-180.
@@turbotegs2102 you sure can, and I am sure it will work great - its just always a good practice to ddu old drivers before installing new ones to avoid any potential conflicts.

Nvidia had its fair share of drivers issues as well with the 3000 series, its what happens when you rush production without quality QA / playtesting. hopefully the next generation will be better for both team red and team green.
try upping the minimum core clock to something like 500 less than your max, unfortunately destiny is a just a mess when it comes to optimization, what I always had to do to build shaders faster is load a pvp private match on every destination planet and run around until the frame times stabilized then I would go to the next planet, the only game I ever had these issues is destiny, thankfully I quit playing a year ago so I don't have any more headaches.
