I thought there was this thing of slowly pulling the glass to the edge, holding the note tense and smacking the note between your fingers and the glass/table. Wonder if that actually works

@@fluffigverbimmelt That method is for an empty upside down beer bottle. For the full pint, drag the bill until the pint is sitting at the edge of the table, then snap the bill downward rapidly.

This is an old bar bet trick, way I always knew to do it is roll the bill towards the glass, as you roll it, it slowly pushes the glass off the bill until its free

You can also pull the pint/bill to the edge of the table so that some of the bill hangs over the edge, then quickly slap downward on the bill which pulls it out and leaves the glass standing still.

I was considering how I'd just put some gloves on or some cloth and lift the glass and chug it, then I realized that I would be touching it with my lips, then I realized that I wouldn't need to drink it, I just needed the note underneath.

Being able to use other objects that touch the glass ruins the trick, just use a bar towel and pick it up. The correct way to do the trick with no other objects touching the glass is to roll the bill up against the glass to pull it out.

The correct way is to pull on the bill just as you hit the table. The glass will lift slightly without spilling and the bill will not be stuck.

The no-touch thing wasn't the main problem to solve here, it was not spilling despite it being filled above the brim. I would have grabbed a towel or paper (whichever existed) and grabbed the glass with it to intentionally pour it out over the desk. It's not spilling if its intentional!

I'd have had Alex move the cup for me. If the stipulation was that I couldn't spill any then it wouldn't matter if he did, but if no spillage at all was the rule then I'd grab the straw, drink some, then have Alex move the cup.

I doubt anyone gives a shit but just in case, that gross brush he put in the glass and then used to push the glass off the paper was an espresso brush. It's used to clean the inside of an espresso press which can accumulate burnt grounds over daily use. This means that their bar also has an espresso press, and an industrial one at that. Side note, put a shot of Sambuca in your coffee, OR float some espresso beans on your Sambuca for an amazingly complimentary flavor. Also, those espresso machines cost between 10 and 20 grand. WOW.

I'd probably argue as the task master that drinking it down means the liquid isn't in the glass, which can be argued is "spilled". I guess they'd have let them off though, so they could've sipped some, had Alex pick it up, and been done

That was my thought at first, putting a glove on or grabbing a bar towel to pick it up. Get the fiver, then drink the pint, because after you get the fiver without touching or spilling, the task is done, didn't say you couldnt drink the beer.

Nah, fastest way is an old bar trick. One hand pinches the fiver, other balled into a fist. Bang your fist on the bar to vibrate the bar while tugging, slides right out.

Liza seems like a cool lady. The way she was so curious about seeing if she could pull the note out from under that she wouldnt let it go and just had to do it....I love it. I also like the matter of fact way that she just lets it all go after it doesnt work. "oh well, screw it" mentality. No drinking the beer or taking the money either. And then her response at the end....."moving it on.....". Yep, she said it perfectly, nothing else to see or say about it lol. No nonsense, matter of fact people are a rarity, good job being awesome Liza!

Grab the bill Pound your fist onto the table, and jerk the bill out real quick while the glass in in the air. The glass will jump just barely high enough to pull the bill out, but it jumps perfectly straight up. No spill You can alternately rap your fist rapidly and "vibrate" the glass off.

the trick is to pull the bill over the edge of the table, hold the end and with your other hand quickly hit the bill downward with your finger, the bill would be free and the glass wouldn't move

@@no_peace I remember a task where they had to do some action using a limited set of tools that included some chocolate. And on the back of the task paper there was a small note saying something like "Eating chocolate causes disqualification." The slowest contestant was the only one who didn't eat chocolate just because he didn't like it. So he was the only one to get points out of pure luck. For the rest of the series all participants always checked the back of the envelope before doing anything.

You know Tim did stick the brush in the pint... then used that brush to push the glass.. So there would have been some transfer of liquid to the outside of the grass/note,/bar top..

^ That's the trick. As you roll it up, the tension will pull the note out from under the glass without moving the glass or disturbing the liquid in it (you can also start with a straw & roll it around that to give it a bit more of an "axle" to work with)

Wet one end of the note with water (or whatever), so that it sticks to the bar, then just slide the pint in the opposite direction till it leaves the note behind. Under five seconds to think of, and not much more than that to execute. Oh, and it will help to spin the glass while sliding it.

Liza would have succeeded if she had pulled the note more in the upward direction rather than side to side. It's the same principle of pulling a tablecloth off of a fully set table without spilling any of the cutlery. They always pull as close to 90 degrees from the surface the objects are sitting on and they do it as suddenly and quickly as possible due to the coefficient of friction of materials.
