I have this product and it works exceptionally well. You have to push it deep into the ground, around the weed. You even get a sense of satisfaction when you pull a weed out and the whole weed comes out!
I have this product and liked it a lot until it broke! I note many others also have found durability to be an issue (see Amazon reviews). I did not abuse the tool but did use it a lot. The puller tends to prematurely fail in two ways: 1. the metal (weed gripping) parts will start regularly jamming due to wear in their housing causing them to slide past, rather than pivot about, each other and so jam, and 2. the sliding plastic part (used to eject the weed) will eventually crack (it is too thin). The latter renders the tool unusable. The other thing to note is that the weeds will soon be back if the entire root is not removed. I found this easier when the ground was wet after rain.

@@MS-yy2dh Aye. My OCD compels me to remove them. Waiting on Home Despot to deliver my new puller which is not a Fiskars this time. So far have pulled no less than 3 large bags. I wish the old school Killex was still allowed to be sold in my area as I know it worked. Not a damn thing I can do with Crab Grass and Clover. My neighbor just dumped $2k on having his lawn re-sodded because of clover!! I am resigned to the fact that in a new woke culture pristine lawns of the 1970s and 80s are but a memory.
Exactly! Mine broke pulling a tall thistle on only the second time I used it. I really liked it too because of the extractor. My 30 day return window from Amazon was past BUT Fiskars customer service honored the warranty and sent me a check in the mail and only asked to see the receipt. That is GREAT customer service!
Works great but the slide ejectors breaks after a medium amount of use. Replaced it several times and it happened each times. The tool still works but takes more effort to eject the weed. All the other parts of the tool Are pretty durable.
Just bought 1 secondhand from Facebook marketplace £10 instead of £45. OMG it’s amazing!! The roots are so long that it pulls out. Well worth the money even if paying full price!!
Oh, getting this! I see you use both hands to push the weed off the thingy, so I must figure out a way to do it differently, with one hand and holding it between my thighs, maybe... Very informative video, indeed, thank you😍
The video demonstration is very good. This weeding gadget is really practical. I bought the same renhotec brand weeding machine not long ago. After using it for a while, it’s not bad. It’s worth trying.
I would want to remove the soil from the roots to fill back in the spot where rhe weed was removed. Longer blades on the weed puller might prove more effective in removng the entire root system of larger weeds.
Mine broke after 5 minutes of use. I used it during the March 2022 floods in Eastern Australia so the soil was saturated. It broke on the plastic ejector arm. I have $4 weeding tools that have lasted over 10 years.
Weed roots are very resilient!! Even the slightest left over root system will trigger them to grow back and quickly!! I have the 3 prong version of the Fiskars model. Sometimes it works in getting the entire root system and sometimes not!!
Thanks for this demonstration. My concern is that you are only pulling out dandelion weeds which are easy to pull out. There are numerous other nastier weeds with more matted root systems. Will the Xact work on them just as easy?????????
I used mine and that thing is a beast, I think the only thing that would have made the experience easier would have been to water 💦 the grass a bit. Otherwise the weed comes out with a nice clump of dirt. ^_^
You have to get the tap root man. If you don't pull main root, the plant can regrow using the energy (food) left in the root. Plus, those are wussy little dandelions; I couldn't even see a tap root. Also, time to find a yard that actually needs weeding. :-)
I’ve just bought this for my dandelion covered lawn - this may sound a bit daft - but how do I get the prongs to stay out? As soon as I lower the head to the weed the foot plate drops down 🤬
No, it's a set height unfortunately. I'm around 6 foot and its just about tall enough for me... any taller and you'll have to arch your back a bit I reckon...
