"This dam is stronger/harder to pull apart than the last one" In my head cannon beavers call in beaver engineers with tiny clipboards and tiny hard hats every time post10 rips apart the dam to figure out a way to thwart this human menace to beaverkind with a better designed dam.
This time the dam was stronger! Because the management of the beaver company decided that the systematically crumbling dam was neglect. Which led to layoffs and crew replacements.
@@GreenScreenFullHD Hahahahaha! Sad day at Beaver Corps. of Engineers, gotta tell ya. Two of the inspectors were taking payoffs of apples. Crew leaders were repeatedly questioned about the inspectors letting things go. Crew saying it's the inspectors' job! Of course they know more than us. We just make adjustments as we were told. Families shunned, friends torn apart, it was awful.
Well, those beaver engineers aren't pulling their punches. Adding whips, spikes and leeches into the structure. They aren't just reinforcing their dams, they are weaponizing them.
Never in a million years would I have thought I enjoy watching a youngster tearing apart beaver dams and unclogging street drains….. you got some videos young man.
One night I got a suggested video and I thought who the hell is that guy and why am I watching this 2 years later I havent missed a video thanks for taking us along on your adventures man
They should at least not charge you the toll fees for all the work you do up there. Didn't realize it was that far from your home I knew you traveled up there but I was thinking like 2 or 3 hours not 8 hours one way. You are the man!!
He is doing something he enjoys and his income from YT videos is listed online by doing a simple Google search. Popular channels make a good income on RU-vid. It's a business.
I bet when these beavers 🦫 see you coming they are saying, "oh no! Not that unclogging Dude again!" 🤣 Seriously, the world needs more caring people like you to help out with the environment.
Some poor beaver is going to wake up in his nice little beaver lodge, take a nice stretch to get ready for a nice long night of beavering, take one step out of his lodge and fall 5 feet. He's going to just sit there, look at the sky and mutter. "post 10 struck again"
Post, about your comment on chest waders. I fully understand your concern. I've been a fly fisherman in CO for many years. I fish still water, and very fast moving rivers with a pair of lightweight chest waders. The consensus is that they in fact don't drag you down when falling in. The simple explanation is that, water in water is neutral so it doesn't create substantial resistance. I have fallen in a few times over the years and can say that I didn't feel them to be a hindrance. I only mention it because I think a quality pair of lightweight breathable waders would suit you well my friend, and make your adventures much more comfortable.
My friends lost their first born son with chest high waders fishing on the shore of Lake Michigan as he fell into the water, but a rip tide pulled him out to deep water. His last words were "help Dad." I knew him since he was in utero as part of our fellowship group. It was mournful. Still sad about his absence: the hole that is never whole.
@@dankennedy8266 i dont want to sound mean but i doubt that had anything to do with the waders, strong current period will just suck you up, thats very unfortunate to read though.
Isn't it more about trying to pull yourself out of the water though? The extra weight in the waders would definitely cause a problem in the kinds of scenarios Post10 would be in? If things became dangerous I mean. Last time he said the extra weight in his tall boots already made it more challenging to get away from the current/collapsing dam.
I'm so fascinated with this. I've been binging for the last 6 hours and those beaver dams are just amazingly compact. So much work to root it up (in a safe way anyway). They're amazing animals despite their work being seen as hurtful to our infrastructure.
Actually they're the best for ecosystems. Humans just aren't willing to work with ecosystems anymore. We choose us over nature. Not wise, in my opinion, and I believe we're already starting to pay for our collective mismanagement and neglects. We're supposed to be good stewards of the planet.
No street too flooded, no pond too deep, no dam too big...Post10 can do more with a pair of boots and a rake than any city council I've ever seen. The *Real* Aquaman! 👏👏👏
Your videos are getting very addictive. I only discovered your channel recently and I'm hooked. This video is my favourite so far. And the sound of the running water chilled me out big time. Also, thank you for putting so much effort into this video. What with all the travelling and the cost you have to put in, you are a legend 😉
I unclogged a drain in my home tonight that was backing up. It works perfectly now. I credit the hours of post 10 videos I've watched. I'm happy to report it was NOT clogged due to beavers.
This by far is my favorite filming angle. The peaceful sound of water along with the glass like appearance over the top of the damn. Fantastic job , it is always a pleasure to watch.
I am absolutely addicted to watching you. I don’t know what is so fastening about watching you clear culverts, breaking up beaver dams but it is. I enjoying watching you and learn so much from you. Keep up the good work. Definitely a major fan of you!❤❤❤❤❤
When I was a track worker, we(track foreman)would ride in a hi-rail truck and patrol the single track north of Brewster NY... the great Patterson swamp had a very large population of beavers...we knocked down yards and yards of dams they built, only to find them rebuilt 2 days later !! They are amazing critters ....great video P10...thanks !
The Beavers were probably thanking you for the prime opportunity to upgrade their dam system. Knocking them down will not deter the Beavers. I kind of admire their unending tenacity to keep rebuilding what we rip apart. I'm pretty sure introducing more Beavers into say, the Midwest, might help restore their water and their ecosystems.
Who would have thought watching a guy clear culverts and drains would be so interesting. Love watching your videos. keep up the good work. From the UK.
I don't know how I found this channel but I have been hooked on watching this stuff for the last couple of weeks. It's done wonders to help me alleviate stress. Great presentation, excellent articulation, videography and editing. Regards from London UK 🦫🦫
This is probably one of the best videos you've done, its not often I sit for over an hour watching a RU-vid video but I made an exception for this one, totally entertaining, excellent work buddy 👍
Love your work ethic Post. How wide was that dam? Looked like the largest one yet. You gonna give Papa beaver a nervous breakdown. Be careful out there lodge hunting. That family may be up in arms and waiting. Can definitely see why waders wouldn't be any good That water was rushing fast. Could be dangerous if you slipped. Get tangled in them pricker bushes. Think them Rangers should be buying you a dinner. 🦫🪵🦫🪵🦫🪵🦫🪵. Do you ever dream beavers and cleaning culverts? Take care Post, your an awesome young man.
You strike as the person who loved to play in the water and mud when you were growing up and never grew out of it. You have put that love to good use. It is very relaxing to watch you and listen to the water flowing. Keep up the good work and the videos.
Just so everyone knows, post10 has a Patreon, you can find the link in channel's 'about' section He never mentions it, but I think there are people here who would love to support him
The best feeling in the world? Laying on the couch, watching Post clear a clogging...randomly tapping the screen on your phone, and then seeing you have another 30 minutes to go in the video 🥰
These builds are so sturdy. Post is removing key structural elements and still the dam holds. Need to give credit to these furry builders, they’re doing a great job.
It always puzzles me like one they bring pack the first punch of sticks and lay them in the dam why dont they wash away or is there like a team of them building
Is it just me or does anyone else get the same type of enjoyment from watchin Post 10 unclogging and popping bubblewrap!! It's the same type of feeling. LOL
This is much better because you have relaxing sound of flowing water throughout the whole video. Bubble wrap is a short term fix until you can watch another vid on this channel
I don't know why I love this channel so much. Who would have guessed that watching someone remove a beaver dam for an hour would be worth it, but here we are!
This one was amazing! If anyone doubts the power of water, especially flood waters, they should watch your videos. To hear those rocks bouncing along as they were swept away was something. Thank you for sharing this with us!
A shove or pick work better and make the job a lot easier. Also removing the sticks from the river and burning or burying would help from pushing a clog down river
I loved your reflection in the water at the 24 minute mark. It looked like you were getting help from someone under the water. Really weird but fascinating at the same time. Keep up the great work you. Are doing
Imagine being a half mile downstream and going about your day when suddenly the trickling creek is pouring with water! That's got to have thrown a few people for a loop! Good job :)
Hey man i just wanted to say thanks for all these wonderful videos. I have a high stress life and high anxiety. Your videos are so calming to me, gives a good sense of chill. Hey i bet you would love caving in some of these river caves we have in TN. Also please wear gloves.
Not many channels I would watch a one hour plus video, but it was well worth it. Thanks for not only sharing the process, but breaking it down so we can understand the why and purpose.
This young gentleman is an inspirational figure for civic minded individuals all over the world. I’m in Australia and find the concept of Beavers and Dams quite Alien and fascinating. Why do the beavers go to so much trouble? Amazing!
I love this. Takes me back to my childhood in the city, always following the water and unclogging street drains, just to see water flow. I would chop holes in ice in winter to drain our alley into the sewer drain. I loved making the little rivers from the drain up the alley. I will have to watch more videos.
There's a joke that there are three things you can watch forever: fire burning, water flowing and other people working. These videos have two out of three, hehe
Your videos are so interesting. You do a good job making sure to record in a way that works for our viewing. And explaining things to us once in a while is interesting too. Thanks for sharing!!
You did a great job. I am a 76 year old lady. I watched you do the whole thing. Your one of a kind to take on that. God bless and keep you safe always.
Why do I find watching these videos so, soo therapeutic? I am well chilled out after watching them. I think it must have something to do with the sound of the water and the movement of the material. I highly recommend anyone to watch one and see if they feel the same way? Thanks and please keep on doing your videos for us folk who can no longer get out and about. Thanks again.
Excellent work as usual! From a recent beaver documentary, I believe some of those little streams you see draining as you’re walking through are indeed intentional. Beavers will half burrow swimming routes further into the forest as the pond grows in size for safety purposes as they forage.
That area looks like the country east of Sudbury, Ontario. Rode a lot of those road and trails years ago, some of the most beautiful country and great quad riding. Enjoyed your video, reminded me of spending hours and sometime days damming up the creek beside my grandmother house just to break it down to watch the water roll by.
I think in all the years I've been watching you, this was one of the best vids! So satisfying watching that dam just fall apart when you weaken it's integrity! Good job on another awesome vid!
In ecofascist Europe you wouldn't be allowed to touch one twig or hang around there too long if the authorities didn't give their consent. Not long and Prince Charles and other ecofascist nobility will again hand out capital punishment if the peasants dare to hunt little critters for their survival. The Hunger Games ain't fiction!
You know there are a pair of Beavers watching you right now and one of them is like "here, hold my beer" LOL. Your videos are always enjoyable. You are definitely a hard worker.
I’ve just stumbled upon this channel in the last day or so - I now find myself watching literally hours and hours of some dude in Maine clearing culverts for fun…if it wasn’t 2022 I’d swear it was 2020 again and I’d just watched Tiger King for the first time
you’ve used a rake in unclogging drains but have you considered using a garden fork or something like it to disassemble these beaver dams? seems to me like you could jab it in and dislodge a lot more branches and mud with one of those than by hand, especially if you alternated that and tugging the bigger logs and sticks loose
Beaver dams are carefully constructed so they are essentially puzzles to take apart, its not like when you pile brush for a bonfire and can keep taking off the top of the pile. About the only effective tools for this are hand picking, a chain saw (mud would instantly dull it), and possibly some sort of fire/flamethrower. Everything else would be rather ineffective at demolishing it or be heavy machinery like an escavator/backhoe that he legally cant use as a volunteer (even the chainsaw is probably off limits). Also i wonder if a pressure washer would work, assuming you had a water feed/gas for it to stay functional.
Now the expression "busy as a beaver" really makes sense. Not until you went into the culvert did it give us perspective on the size of that beaver dam. Wow! And all done in a matter of weeks.
Some of the previous videos of this location have them putting the dam up enough to raise the water level a foot in around three hours. Those furry Lil feckers are fast.
Another engineering dispute neatly resolved ! Beavers later just said "Damn !". I enjoyed watching each chunk dismantled much more than I should have. I'll watch every one of these moving forward. Thanks much.
I love to sit on the sofa and watch someone work! :) Suggestion: next time try using a pitch fork or so, that will save you bending down and putting your hands into the water all the time.
Yes, I'm glad too. Relocation rather than shooting. But excuse my ignorance, being British and not living in a beaver country, isn't there some kind of a TNR programme for beavers? They do it for feral cats, why not beavers? Reduce or control the beaver population that way? Having said all that, I do find your videos very entertaining. Why not include the music of "Dambusters"???
@@christinekerr9777 I am not entirely sure but I think feral cats in britain would be a case of animals that are alien to the environment being controlled. But in the case of beavers, they are in fact native to this environment but their instinct to dam rivers and streams causes issues for human infrastructure. I dont believe that its the same as house cats going feral. This is just nature being natural
@@russs7574 I wouldn't dismiss the lake drain saga so quickly, the job was far from stellar and I wouldn't be surprised the new culvert causes a new sinkhole menacing to take out the road above
Excellent video of you showing the whole process of dismantling the beavers dam. And the best part, close to the end is when the remaining dam releases all at once under the water pressure. Always include this footage when showing the whole process.
one danger you should be aware of is when the dam gets "loose" in those metal pipes, there is a chance of the entire dam sliding down and out the pipe from the water pressure behind it. When I was a kid, I broke a few beaver dams by just sitting there and poking it with a stick. The branches and all were locked together real well but I managed to wash out all the dirt in between them by just poking and wiggling a big stick down through the cracks. I really enjoy the sound of those rocks tumbling down through the pipe. Thanks for making these videos, brings back memories and the running water is pretty peaceful.
You're right, Paul, & that's the primary reason to work from the top rear edge downward, to gradually lower the water level to relieve pressure on the dam as you go. If you work from the front edge, you run a much higher risk of the dam breaking loose from the pipe all at once, & the massive flow of released water at high volume & pressure toppling you into a raging torrent filled with mud, rocks, and tangled sticks & logs, & who knows how or when you could fight your way up & out of it to safety. Working from the back, at a minimum, gives you the chance of fleeing down the pipe & out of the way.
Depends on the size, weight, interlocking of the wood and whether there are small elements that will not simply dissolve into tiny fragments as dirt/mud will. That's part of what the large rocks do - they inhibit the flow while providing a heavy anchor for the small and large pieces of wood.
Oh my goodness you're such a inspiration to do good 👍🏻😊 when I watch your videos I find myself when traveling looking for clogged drains, pipes and culverts in the neighborhoods and busy streets ! You might just be contagious to people for them to begin to make the world a better place to live in!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful life! Be safe and healthy! Take care!
It is amazing how well those dams are constructed. I had no idea how smart beavers are and how strong they must be to carry those logs they use. I enjoy watching your videos there is something calming, and interesting in watching you take those dams apart. Thank you for sharing.
You have no idea how relaxing it is to come home from work and put on one of your videos. The sound of the water flowing and watching it as well, it's my moment of the day that's just for me and myself... Thanks heaps man and keep up the great work.
This just might be my favorite Post 10 video of all time. The water is flowing so nice and crystal clear. We could see everything he was doing. It was a really unique view. Really enjoyable. 👍🏻🦫🙂
