I am the lucky guy who benefited from Cruiseman need to have a damaged bike to work on for this video. For me, this is a miracle! I was so despondent when I realized that my right saddlebag was rubbing on a car. Thank you thank you Cruiseman!

Gotta say CM, I've been riding bikes for over 40yrs, all over the country, I've been a harley guy my whole life, but this right here is why I look forward to watching all your videos, picking up quality product information is so valuable, and even though I don't own a wing your install videos are amazing to watch because of the details at which you use to make it so understandable for wing owners, and when your out rollin miles it's always great to just listen to what ya gotta talk about.. from a roadglide ultra owner to a wing owner, love the channel.

My saddlebag was keyed (or looks like a keying). One single deep scratch about half the length of the bag, deep in the start, then gets lighter. No other damage or even minor scratches to indicate I got too close to something. I watched the video several times and bought the same items and even the Griots polisher. I was nervous starting the repair, I didn't want to make it worse but got to it. Wet sanded and polished. I stopped after a couple of passes. If you get really up close to the bag, the deepest part of the scratch can still be seen. Standing next to the bag, the entire scratch can't be seen. You'd have to know the scratch was there to know where to look. Thanks for lesson. Really satisfied with the results. Now I can shine up the other bag so they both look new.

I must say, I may have hope after some road rash on my left pannier paint. Thxfor the info. Most of this I already have. Just need to investigate how deep the rash went.

Use a small block with the sandpaper wrapped around it to do your sanding. It's very easy to put a valley in ti using your thumb or finger.

Loved your video on removing scratches. I haven’t taken sand paper to my Goldwing yet but I will order the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution. I’d like to suggest before sanding make certain it’s not paint transfer. I have removed lots of transfers with a MagicEraser and a half of a bucket of water. It works magic also. Thanks again for your videos I watch all of them.

I Always clay bar after wasshing to get most surface contaminants out as well ,i never go on the paint anything over 3. Ill start at 1 or 3 then ill dial it up when the pad is all ready in motion as not to risk cutting to deep in one area of the clear coat.BTW the honda paint and clear coat is very thin and soft always try to kerp a good type wax on it(preferences vary on each person pick what you like)

You did a wonderful job! Nice going. I've done multiple cars and motorcycle paint corrections, and that was very good. The only suggestions I have is don't use Dawn dish washing soap. They make dedicated soaps for stripping waxes and sealants. Also clay bar area to remove bonded contamination on paint. Don't want to compound contamination into clearcoat. Everything else you did for your friend was spot on! Good good job!!!

True about the Dawn. That's just all I had in my arsenal at the time. I did do clay bar, but did not put it in the video because I am doing a separate video on clay bar.

It is ok to get wet while curing. Says so on bottle. I use this always. Tried them all. But price, lasting, and ease. Turtle wax products are AWESOME. They have been doing wax a long time

Excellent video. I did something similar on my cowl. You know saw something and tried gently rubbing it off. And it left a couple of very small hazy spots. Now I know what to do. I actually believe that the turtle wax platelet polish would remove them. Thanks

Nice job, Chris! Glad you were able to help out Don! It was good to see him happy with it. This vid will probably come in handy for me because my baby is black & gray. She's a new 2020 and is still in pristine shape right now, but you know how black is. One question though...The day after I rode her home from the dealer, I dropped her off to be professionally ceramic coated. Would you do anything different if scratches still got through?

You probably need to talk to the shop where you had the ceramic coating applied. There is a good chance that polishing with a compound would remove the ceramic coating in the area being treated.

Harleys put on a lot more clear than Hondas. If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, extreme measures. you can fill it in with catalyzed clear. Let it cure for a day or two. Scrape it with a razor blade and go thru the sanding process that Cruiseman did only very carefully.

I would have used my Griots G8 polisher with compound and either a heavy cut foam pad or a microfiber cutting pad to deal with the heavy scratches.

I have a used Honda Goldwing and I have some scratches and fading on the trunk and they look like they're lite it also looks like water spots I'm wondering if this technique would also work with the trunk I would have to disassemble my trunk rack so I could have better access to the entire trunk of the bike.

I would start with a clay bar, then try some mild polish like this and it might work.

Interesting, I use Dawn detergent to wash my bikes all the time. It's magic as getting oil, bugs, water spots, etc, off the bike. I've never had any adverse effects in my finishes as a result. We put our hands in it all the time, they use it to clean oil off wildlife during spills. Maybe I've been lucky, not sure. However, 90% of the time I don't wet wash my bikes. And I rarely take the hose to it.

Depends.typically a "chip" needs to be touched up with touch up paint. I may do a video showing this at some point. Once the touch up paint is applied, then it may be necessary to lightly wet sand the area and polish out.

Thank you for the video. It gives me confidence to want to try out myself. I am picking up an 06 Wing next week that has a couple of imperfections and want to make it look as new as possible. I am wondering how the repair is holding up over time and subsequent washes.

Waxing after sanding is not a good idea. You should have clear coated it 1st because paint and or Clear coat will not stick to the surface after Waxing

Great job Chris. On the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution I am impressed, do you need to use a clay bar or anything to remove all the 'stuff' that has accumulated on the paint,, or just wash it thoroughly with car wax/soap? I have the 2020 Canam Spyder and the paintwork is in good shape. Of course you know how the new paints are, a bit softer than the earlier paints. Thanks.

OK, but do you feel it would be necessary to do the job correctly? I am totally not inclined to rubbing on these 'new soft paints' if it's not totally necessary.

@@billwilliams9527 i had done a clay bar on this saddlebag a few weeks earlier, before the scratch, so I did not feel it necessary to do it again. But, in most cases, you would clay bar and prep/wash before correction.

That is a CB antenna and it comes with the Honda CB radio kit.

I don't think it is available except as part of the CB kit.

@@cruisemansgarage: See above. Honda has always sold the antenna separately from the CB itself, going back at least to the 1500's. The wrinkle with the 18-ups is the handlebar cluster - they're different for the DCT vs the manual.

I'm not convinced. In fact I was pretty horrified. Ignoring the garage floodlights obscuring the surface of the saddlebag, whilst the initial result may be impressive it's by no means permanent. One wash and the wax and polish disappears and all is revealed. T-cutting scratches and abrasions is never a permanent solution. When it happens we've just got to suck it up and replace or have professional respray.
