Wish I had seen this two days ago when I tried opening my bleeder valve and it started to round off! Thanks for the helpful tip. It's frustrating getting ready to do a job and not having the right tool.

corroded on bleeders are a long standing notorious problem. it there not a bleeder that will not do that? perhaps stainless? i would pay a few extra bucks for it

I have these and they do work. Forget the ones from Harbor Freight those are junk. I got mine at Tractor Supply

I just rounded one off yesterday and actually think I have a Craftsman set that is a similar design to those where they are supposed to grab toward the middle of the bolt. I'm gonna give it a try today.

I have same set & one of mine the pieces inside of socket bent out of place & had to beat socket off with chisel & hammer the rest of them work great though just one that couldn't take the pressure lol

If those dont work and they are still stuck grab soldering torch and heat the caliper around it for a bit then spray it with cold water then tap it with a hammer. Do this a couple times and it will come out

ONLY use a 6 point socket or 6 point bleeder wrench on a bleeder valve . Some flare nut wrenches only make contact at 4 points , some at 5 points . Soak it first in PB Blaster . If frozen , then heat the caliper around it . Give it some taps BEFORE you try to loosen it . Good Luck .

What happens if you have a rusted in bleeder screw that is bonded to the chasis of the caliper?

They work great. A lot of people think rounding off bolts, nuts, etc is always preventable. lol They simply haven't experienced this or have been working in the field long enough to tell there story.

Thank you so much for your video! What if I rounded the nut on the brake line? I’m trying to change the wheel cylinder and can’t get the brake line lose from the other final part and now it is rounded. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Try some small amounts of heat and keep working it.

What do you do if the bleed screw is rusted? Do you risk braking it? Would all the brake fluid leak out if you snap the bleeder screw? Car is a 2017 civic, and bleeder screws look rusted especially in the rear.

Sometimes those spiral type e-z outs tapped into the bleeder hole will get them out, if you don't plan on reusing the bleeder screw.

Soak it in penetrating fluid such as PB Blaster . Put an old drill bit or nail in the bleeder to keep it from collapsing and cut it off flush . Hit it with a hammer or use the air hammer to vibrate it with a blunt attachment . Use the bolt out sockets . Sears , Irwin , Lisle , etc. have them . You can heat it and then spray CRC Freeze Off on it . Have you tried those spline sockets on anything really rusted ? I don't know if they will split with a breaker bar because they are chrome .

This works fine when the brake line is not attached. I have a stripped nut on a brake master cylinder which includes the metal brake line. How can I loosen the nut without twisting or ruining the line from brake master cylinder to the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder on a 1960 Chevy panel truck?

The problem with the is if you heat the part to get it loose DON'T USE THESE SOCKETS they have plastic jaw holders, they will MELT.

Doesn't matter... when the bolt, nut or etc has rusted to the point were the "size" is no longer sufficient enough, for a required tool to fit snug to break it loose. Not everyone understands this.
