In this video I remove the drive train from the K&T mill. I start with the drive clutch and pulley, the power feed/rapid traverse bracket and take off gears, and then pull the entire gearbox from the column.

Thanks, Max. It'll be interesting to see how much wear there is on the table ways. That will tell me at least how hard it was worked.

What a cool setup...it's always interesting to see the guts on these old machines, and some of the engineering solutions they came up with

What impresses me even more, is they designed all this with slide rules, paper and pencils. No computers. No calculators.

Beautiful internals on the K&T...made to last, made with pride

Definitely made to last. And the ingenuity that when into the gearbox is something else. It's even more interesting on the bigger model H machines that only had one lever on the outside.

Really liked the threaded rod removal. When you straighten the rods it will work fine, I think. Thoughtful teardown and am enjoying. Thanks for the look.

It was a good idea, but poorly executed. ;)

Interesting and helpful if I am ever blessed enough to find one of these machines. Thanks for sharing!

A lot cleaner in there than I expected.

I had put a few gallons of K1 in it and ran it for 5-10 minutes a while back. I think that helped a lot.

G’day Greg. Man they are a beautifully built piece of machinery. You’re doing a good job on the restoration mate. Keep it up 👍

Hello Greg, Good stuff... You made good progress there. I agree that there is quite often a hidden screw or something, so slow and carefully are always the best option... Take care. Paul,,

Rushing just means you break things faster. LOL!

Great video ! There aren't too many tear down and rebuild videos on the k&t mills .

Not too many K&T mills out there that people want to tear down, I guess. LOL! There'd be more if we could get Doug to edit and publish his.

Gday Greg, the internals look to be in very good condition, certainly built to last back then, great job mate, Cheers

Thanks, Matty. It never stops to impress me how well these older machines were put together.
