Hey guys today we checked out Hi Ren with no expectations on what we were getting into. We could believe the level of talent it was a true work of art. Original Video : • Ren - Hi Ren (Official...
Witnessing the rise of Ren is like a disturbance in the force in a good way. I think we are all part of a change that will ripple through humanity. People are opening up about their mental health issues, being supported and comforted by strangers in the most beautiful way. I feel a change in the wind, says I 🖤🖤🖤
Hi Lilly, seen you comment in like 30-40 reaction videos, I was thinking the same thing about the ripple and then I got a worry in my heart. Whats your opinion about people who coopt a good thing...a good recent example would be woke culture...and turn it into something nasty and ridiculous like the extreme left have decided to do with being offended about anything for anyone that isn't them, including being offended for people who are not offended. Do you have any worry for vapid shitsticks to start claiming to "just be real with their mental illness" in a negative fashion to coopt society's attention toward them yet again? Claiming they're dealing with far worse than they actually are just for attention? Its a worry I have once this ripple really starts making waves. What do you think?
I love the way people go from raising an eyebrow at the ‘yodel singing’ at the beginning to willing him on in the triumphant repeat of the refrain at the end. Just shows how he captures peoples support during the course of a single song.
Ren is absolutely phenomenal as an artist! Learned of him about a month ago and his been all we've been listening to for weeks now! Songs like GENESIS, THE HUNGER, WAR PIGS ,CRUTCH, CHALK OUTLINES, HOW TO BE ME and just about all of his songs are just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That cry just earned you another sub. I imagine you’ll get many more bc of it. Seriously, this was a great reaction from you both. Usually, I like reactors to pause and break stuff down, but it’s different with Hi Ren. I feel like if you pause it, you lose the whole feeling of the piece, so that was a great call on your part. Hope you guys have a great day 😊
Welcome down the Rabbit hole that is Ren .look forward to your Reactions to his widely different material withsome absolutely fantastic performers, like Chinchilla, Sam Tompkins, the band big push. He jokingly called his Music BARDCORE. his use of theatre, poetry his guitar playing is just off the scale
When the viewer gets to experience the piece without trying to create a video, it brings a more authentic reaction. I am pretty sure the intros to his songs are meant to "cleanse your pallet" as you begin this journey, stopping the video seems to let people hypothosis and let their brain catch up without being able let it wash over them. I know for more "normal" music it isnt a problem, but for this one (and a handful of others)... just feel it, and then deconstruct it.
Same for me. I had to watch it numerous times before I stopped welling up. Now I watch just to see others do it!! Lol Beautiful reaction guys. Thank you. 🤙🤟💕🌺✌️🖖🏻🙏🌼 It’s actually musical theater Based on reality. Weird, huh. Enjoy finding out more!😎
I'd recommend Ren & Chinchilla CHALK OUTLINE. They both have beautiful voices, Well his stuff actually he does not stick to one Genre, The Trilogy Jenny & Screech ,Violets Tale is an Emotional whirlwind. So sad .
Ren was bitten by a tick and for years and years he was misdiagnosed and then got Lyme disease that resulted into mental health issues and he's currently in Canada to see what they can do to help him. The guy is allergic to 90% of all foods ...amazing story indeed.
side effects of taking pills he didn't need to take or should of taken in the first place. It is absurb how many pills he does take all at one time, and is now proficient at swallowing all at same time, as his TikToks showed.
Fun fact Ren did this live … he is a brilliant artist and worth going down the rabbit hole of this phenom Ren … I would recommend Chalk Outlines or How To Be Me as your next Ren listens
Hi my friends great reaction ren is a independent artist and has suffered with long term illness for years been told by doctors there was nothing wrong with him and it was all in his head he was given a contract by Sony music and they drop him because of his illness please look at the history of ren he is an amazing artist and an amazing person have fun love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
When you realize that this was recorded live, in one take, after a few attempts, it really hits hard. I highly recommend The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version that includes Violet’s Tale). It’s a trilogy, and each section was recorded live, one shot, no edits or production. If his music doesn’t touch you, you’re not human.
In Hi Ren the part that sticks out the most to (besides the speech at the end is), "You can't kill me I'm Temptation and I'm IMMORTAL! Oh yeah? Well I'm HOPE and I'm Eternal!" Opposing forces battling throughout the history of time! Ren is Shakespeare like both musically and poetically! Fallin, A Man's World, Money Game 1 AND 2, Hunger, Chalk Outlines, Trilogy of Jenny Screech and Violate (IN ONE TAKE VIDEO). There is also a video of Ren doing a Reggae Bob Marley cover of "I shot the Sherriff" he did with his band before they split up about 2 months ago now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uSeCuR51rek.html. VERY DEEP, VERY VERSATILE!
I have been binch watching reaction videos on Hi Ren for the last two weeks and I can't seem to stop. Watching people's reactions to this Message which I can not explain other than the Truth. I find myself in tears every time I see when someone 'gets' the Message. It is the entire Gospel of Christ in one song. First, we just sing along, then the inner battle, then Satan reveals himself and then Christ comes and Stands up in authority over us and claims us to be redeemed. Our Saviour and Eternal Hope. And finally, it is ok. Because we have been made to be trailed and tested, we are human.
Now that's what I call undivided attention. Respect just for that alone. You should check out "Chalk Outlines (live) w/ Chinchilla to see how effective Ren can be with a couple of simple guitar chords. Then maybe a double shot of his rapping on the short songs 'Genesis' and 'The Hunger', to hear how smooth his flow and beats are. Then check out 'I Shot The Sheriff' to see him jamming on a street corner with his band The Big Push. Then realize there's nothing he can't do, and that you're witnessing a generational talent, and a real moment in music history. This guy is truly special.
Ren is an AMAZING independent artist with a HUGE back catalogue - all very different but ALL GREAT! I really hope you check out more - you won't be disappointed!. You need to check out his page to learn more about him - he is inspiring to so many
Check out Ren's "The Tale of Jenny, Screech &Violet". You'll see that Ren is the supreme storyteller. The video is a trilogy. All three segments must be played in one reaction to get the full effect, so look for FULL reaction to upload. It's stunningly good!
About time! 🤣🤣🤣 Highly suggest "The tale of Jenny and Screech (Full)" and "What you want" y'all are stumbling on a rabbit hole. Welcome and enjoy your stay.
He is a fellow Brightonian, we are so proud of him and wish him well with his current treatment. Insanely talented I have seen him busk a few times no end to how talented he is
@@mathewbeechey6088 I first saw him seven years ago and have seen him many times - usually outside TK Maxx but also further along the road. All The Big Push members are brilliant as well but Ren just has that certain something about him.
Just imagine if everyone thought, "Well gosh... other people have already written songs about love... so anyone doing that is just an imposter, copying what came before them."
The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will always be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a powerful piece of performance art that gives "broken" people HOPE. It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking.
You guys are reactors, you're supposed to react to video in whatever way comes naturally to you and I really loved that you actually listened through the whole thing without interrupting it, because it is so engaging, and seeing you unable to react was all the reaction I could have hoped for. Your facial expressions said it all. That was perfect. Everything that you said afterward was just icing on the cake. Loved your reaction.
"My music is really connecting, and the people who find it respect it." He should get that tattooed on his forearm so he never forgets it. That was essentially a live performance. There's one edit in that whole video from another take. That's insane.
on the back of the wheelchair if you missed it is LD50 (for those into music know who uses it) and its a medical term to look up to see what he is going through and many out there are also, because that is all we do to make people "feel better"
Beautiful reaction ... Welcome to Ren. Can you believe this was done "live" 1 man ... 1 guitar ... a couple of blinky lights. If you would like to see another "story" I suggest: "Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)" This is one video that is a trilogy ... you must watch in order ... Jenny/Screech/Violet. Ren really pulls you into this one. Thanks again for your reaction.

Do 'CHALK OUTLINES' (LIVE) ... with Chinchilla ... If you think the hair on your arms is being lazy lately ... this is the song that made it all stand up for me !!! Ren is pretty incredible for sure ... LOTS of super cool tunes. I REALLY like the RAP he does over his Re-Mix of the old FISHER beat called "LOSING IT" !!! Now, I'm NOT a RAP GUY at all but ... YEAH !!! Really fuckin' well done. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-35yALr_opeg.html ~ Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mLvAGjhDssc.html ~ Ren - Losing it ( FISHER rap retake )

The Hunger for Rapping that made me really enjoy Rap... I'm A 55yr old punk/rock fan . Alot of live performance one take And the best storytelling I've seen The tales of Jenny and Screech full version off his channel 👍. Ren was born in Wales and lives in Brighton he is independent so needs all our support ✌️❤️. New sub from Scotland 🏴 Enjoy your reactions ✌️❤️🏴
No, the world would not be better without you😢 The fact that you can relate to Ren means you have a purpose. I know the pain. I feel it everyday but we’ve got to keep battling❤️🩹🙏❤️🩹
Please react to the trilogy he has. Jenny’s take, Screech’s tale, and Violet’s tale. Ren is a very talented artist, and am happy to of found his music. Very relatable. Always left speechless ❤
Next you need to do The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full). Ren put the trilogy in one video. I think he did it for reactors! He really supports the reactor community. He's just all around bad ass.
Ren is a genius. Thank you for sharing your experience ❤ Check out the Jenny, Screech, and Violet trilogy is even better. Watch it in that order. Filmed one take live❤
If you go to the Community tab on his YT channel, you'll find lots of info about Ren. The following was collated by Jens Randolff so props to him for that. Here is a little bit about his background, in case you don't know already. I gathered it from an old newspaper interview and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Eryn Gill is a British musician born in Wales on March 29 1990. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which lead him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). Ren's Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, as well as his bones/joints. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." Let's keep supporting Ren and not pull a "Sony" on him as he undergoes his treatment. Check out his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times. Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. www.gofundme.com/f/ren-get-better-from-lyme-disease-and-autoimmuni
If you haven't heard of The Warning i would prob suggest. the live version of Animosity ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K8VPX-diRl4.html or their reimagined version of Enter Sandman ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vg9vNE7gm0I.html that was done for Metallica's 30th Anniversary Blacklist album or the latest one to drop Disciple ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wo0odllVq8g.html all of these pro shot videos were from Aug 2022 just to give you an insight to how good they are live
Sometimes mental illness is described as an abnormal response to normal circumstances, but the reality is that it I mostly a completely normal response to abnormal circumstances.
Thank you for being real and relatable in your reaction! It was obvious that you felt something, but didn't go out of your way to exaggerate a reaction. I've seen people react enough to Ren - Hi Ren and some of his other songs to kind of get when people might be faking it. There's a lot to Ren's story. Lots of people will be hitting you to react to this and that from him, so I won't be doing that. What I will say is this... Ren doesn't really do the same thing twice, at least not from what I've heard of his songs, and I've listened to quite a lot. What I generally always include in my comments is to say, many many of his songs are heavy. It's probably really good to mention there are quite a few that are upbeat and I really appreciate those that are due to how many heavy ones he has. Have a great day!
Thank you for your honest and heartfelt reaction. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 6 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on RU-vid are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. "The Big Push" busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren has hinted that he might release his newest song on March 29, which is his birthday.
Ive seen over a hundred reactions to this song and i still tear up every single time. You havent seen anything yet. I dont agree with everything he sings about but he is absolutely amazing. His guitar work is amazing. His story telling is amazing.
I enjoy seeing youtubers getting their minds blown with musical art. I have listened to a couple hundred HI REN reactions and look out for newer youtubers, and you got a new subscriber in me. Keep doing what ya doin. KEEP MOVING FORWARD. 🤜🤛 SHARING IS CARING Ren's music is the word that is like the song needed for peace in BILL AND TEDS movie, from WYLD STALLIONS.
Yall Gotta check out him and his band, The Big Push, two in particular... I shot the sheriff and War Pigs!!! Trust the stranger on the internet... it's a Live Show on the streets... and they're OFF THE CHARTS!!!!!!!!!
And Also... for a Creepy, yet Cool, vibe... Children of the Moon! For a Rock vibe... FIRE off his first album works! Also... ya Gotta check out his Band "The Big Push"!!! His version of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop and War Pigs will blow your mind!
Y'all should do his Jenny and Screech trilogy (Full Version!)!!! Master Level Guitar and Storytelling! Granted, it's another Tough subject... but it's one that Needs to be spoken about!!!
I came for Ren but subbed for you. Great reaction. Once you go down the Ren rabbit hole, you won't want to come back up. Some suggestions just to show his unparalleled versatility: The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full), The Hunger, Chalk Outlines, and a busking video with his former band The Big Push, I Shot The Sheriff. All showing different sides of Ren and all so perfect.
Audience: Yes! Finally, a talented artist being unflinchingly honest. We love it! Music industry: And the 2023 Grammy for best song goes to Chat GPT for “ Dat Robot Got a Coochie” 🤦🏻♂
Well U got another sub thanks to Ren. Your now part of the Renovations!! Welcome on the ride!!! This guy has the talent of 10 of our last great artists!!! 😉
Welcome to the RENaissance. If you want to continue this particular journey, travel to the back catalog and go with Depression and Insomnia. Chalk Outlines. And his most recent is Sick Boi. If you want another story to hit you in the feels, then definitely check out The Tale of Jenny & Screech. It's a trilogy, but he's released a Complete version in a single vid. For a palette cleanser and if you're fans of flow, my favorite track of his is The Hunger. If you want to go old school, then check out What You Want. Losing It is also fire.
One of the most interesting things about this whole RENaissance is that whether you're a metal fan, a rap fan, or a pop music fan, everyone seems to love this. That's the mark of a true talent and a true artist. As a metal fan (who also appreciates jazz, trip-hop, classical music etc) this was an unexpected gem for me. If you loved this you'll probably also love Chalk Outlines, How to be Me and Crutch. He's brutally honest, raw, talented and supremely real.
I haven’t seen this much hype around an artist since Nirvana. I think him mixing the genres will hopefully influence many more MUSICIANS!! Me makes music and songs, not tiktok pieces just to get views!
The crazy thing is, you have to be mega unlucky to get Lyme disease from a tick bite, because that tick had to have bitten an infected rat, first, and then live long enough to bite and infect the human victim. It's really effed up.
That moment at 6:08 when one of you lifted your chin up in that way people do when they feel upset but resolve to be brave by standing up for themselves, really touched me. Ren's facial expressions and body language are so vulnerable in that part - kind of like when a child gets bullied but has the courage to tearfully square their shoulders back and stick up for themselves. Like they've drawn a picture and someone says "Thats sucks" and the kid says "Well, I think it's good..." all the while trying to be strong and not burst into tears. The thought of trying to internally stand up to you own inner bully makes me tear up every time. Great reaction.
I am new to Ren as well, but instantly became a fan, listen to his song with Chinchilla "Chalk Outlines" great meaning and great harmony, also look into The Big Push cover of War Pigs by Black Sabbath with a twist live on the street in Brighton
Sure, the devil will always cast unbelief and mountains of disbelief in ones dreams, desire, health... He can kill u if your low enough. Powerful song!!!
my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..
The single most dangerous person you can possibly be stupid enough to pick a fight with, is yourself. And we all do it anyway. This song paints that beautifully.
You can tell by my boys hands he works hard for a living good for you my brother makes you worthy of such a beautiful woman. No homo you both have such beautiful expressive eyes.
