I cannot tell you how many reactions to this song I've watched and never had someone take that angle on it. Great thoughts! Looking forward to watching you dive down this rabbit hole. It's a journey! He's Welsh but has lived in Brighton for years.
Now that you know Ren is a monster of an artist. Do not deny yourself of really the one song I have found that never gets old and I use it for medication everyday... LOSING IT. Ren, da man, will go BEAST mode. I guarantee it or your money back or time back whichever you want back, just don't deny yourself, or me, 😉. How you going to let yourself forgive if you don't play your favorite future song?
Great reaction 🤗 he’s amazing isn’t he, oh he does his own beats and this is shot in one take. His skill set on this is 🔥 Chalk Outlines live with Chinchilla will show you another side - lol he’s multi faceted ❤
Great reaction! Now you have to hear him sing 😊 chalk outlines or How to be Me (live with Chinchilla), I shot the sheriff/ Road to Zion/Hip Hop busking with his band the Big Push..there is so much more and all of it is amazing. This rabbit hole is very deep
Ren was born in Wales but lives in Brighton. He spent years busking on the streets of Brighton where he honed his craft. I've read he makes his own beats and produces his own videos. You're right he has so many layers and we will enjoy watching you peel them back!
Probably helps that he started battle rapping at 12, and was already making (and selling) beats. 20 years of practice matters. He's from Wales. Love your reaction, looking forward to more.
Great reaction mate, still LOADS to see from Ren and you won't be disappointed. It's mad to me how this guy was putting out amazing music for years and most of us only finding out about it in the last 6 months. Look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos.
Love the deep reaction, I'm 53 so spent my 20s in the 90s. I loved the underground house n hip hop music scene and had a need to get in the minds of my favourite artists. Once even jumping on a plane to the states to visit the infamous Warehouse because I needed to understand Frankie Knuckles. I see this mindset in your reaction. I've fallen hard into the Ren rabbit hole, he is THE most interesting, deep, artist I think I've come across in my lifetime and he's home grown. I'm from the U.K also. Anyway you got my Sub and can't wait to see you unwind Rens mind because I think you hit the nail on the head with this reaction thank you my brother.
Same age as you though im up north. Spot on mate. Was a DJ in the 90s but always been very eclectic taste wise. Ren is this little gem hiding under our noses for ages it seems. Once in a generation artist like an Amy Winehouse situation. Ive introduced Ren to quite a few uk people and its been a mixed bag response really. Differently, Seems like USA reactors jaws have all dropped this last 6 month. Maybe one of those times a Brit conquers the states before the UK. Great reaction @JayFlex.yeah ill stick around for more buddy, subbed.
From 12:33 I think you perfectly summed up Ren and where he is with his music right now. Got yourself a new subscriber. Please try ‘Genesis’. For me personally it’s his best rap song and the best UK hip hop I’ve heard - the sample and beat are crazy good. All produced by himself of course.
He can't deny himself or us the experience of LOSING IT together. How's it going to deny himself his future favorite song, if he doesn't know about it?
thank you for reacting to my favourite artist ever am 63 and have followed Ren for years, love your break down of the music please please more Ren you wont be disappointed ❤❤
Ren does multiple styles and genres and does them all brilliantly! He's an incredible songwriter, a spectacular lyricist, a poet really, a world-class rapper, he beatboxes, has an amazing voice, his performance skills are ridiculous. He produces all his own music, laying down the music and beats himself. He's an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist, on 7 different instruments! He even makes his own videos, in conjunction with his friend Sam. Most of them are recorded live, single take, no lip synch, no autotune, just raw live talent! All whilst suffering from extremely debilitating and incurable, chronic illnesses! What's more, he never seems to miss. Whether it's rock, reggae, hip-hop, soul, edm, folk, or Ren's own unique genre 'bardcore'... it's all great and there's a bona fide masterpiece round every corner. He just never disappoints. Britain has a once in a generation artist beginning to blow up! He's determined to remain independent (Sony signed him in his late teens but dropped him soon after when he became ill) so he probably won't get a lot of airtime but he deserves to be HUGE! To top it all, he appears to be a really nice, really genuine, down-to-earth guy too! :)
“I was not expecting this!” has got to be the most commonly uttered phrase among those just discovering Ren. If I was tech savvy I’d make a compilation vid with a tiny clip from each reactor when they say “woah! I was NOT expecting THAT!” By now I’ve heard it hundreds of times.
I totally loved your take on this! I've been blown away by Ren in so many directions... I'm 55yo, a musician by trade, had got pretty jaded about music, even listening to it, and what's the point etc, then heard 'Hi Ren' maybe 3 months ago, was too scared to listen to more Ren for nearly a week 'cos I fn KNEW I'd be disappointed, -haven't been yet, inspired to be listening to new (and old) music, working on improving my craft and my dreams again, etc etc... And I've watched a lot of reactions... But this one, well I never thought anyone would say what I was thinking AND then go on to get me thinking more... Wisdom ain't about the number of mangos you've picked, or the number of mango seasons you've seen... Sorry, been thinking about mangos, they're delicious and out of season...
New sub, I've watched your other Ren reaction videos and really enjoyed them all. As someone with an English degree, I appreciated your mention of Ren's use of alliteration by the way. My suggestion for your next Ren vid is "The Tale Of Jenny And Screech," a three part, 13-minute long epic depiction of crime, sexual abuse and violence on a Shakespearean level. It's an amazing display of Ren's talents as storyteller, guitarist, vocalist, actor...the list goes on. Hopefully, you'll do all 3 parts in one video (1. Jenny's Tale/2. Screech's Tale/3. Violet's Tale) to get the full impact, but if you decide to break them up (as some reactors have) please make sure to react to them in the right order. I only mention it because I've seen quite a few reactors unwittingly watch "Violet's Tale" (the climactic episode) first, which ruins the ending. And you REALLY don't want to ruin the denouement of this trilogy, for reasons you'll know doubt discover for yourself.
He is super talented but his ability to perform and execute it is truly special. His ADHD might also play a part, my daughter has it also. They say that a person with ADHD has the power of a Ferrari engine but with bicycle-strength brakes which perfectly sums her up.
Dude you need to hit the Ren rabbit hole hard! Every song is a little surprising and amazing. Genesis, Chalk Outlines LIVE, Losing it the fisher rap retake, love music 1, 2, and 3, #3is a beast! Money game 1 & 2, crucify your culture, diazipam, insomnia, su!cide, all his busking stuff. Dude go... you'll be stoked
Your reaction was great! Ren is Welsh, living in Brighton for long a time. Brighton is where he did all the busking with the band "The Big Push" he is in. His band mates are super tanlented as individuals, also. He also has busked with Sam Tomkins and others and introduced Chinchilla to busking as well. Enjoy your travels with us through the Ren Rabbit Hole!
Really great reaction, your insights were really unique and watching you get genuinely excited was fun to watch. If you want learn more about Ren, he did a great interview with Black Pegasus a worth watch for sure. Just subbed and looking forward to more Ren reactions. Peace from NYC
I subscribed simply for your Ren reactions 😂 You are very observant and refreshing to watch. Ren has been very ill for many years, with Lyme's disease and brain damage from being prescribed all the wrong drugs. So the fact that he can do Anything is incredible, but to produce his own beats, beatbox, play multiple instruments, rap, sing and ACT! Wow! He is a beast. A genius. Sorry for going on, but Ren does that to people. You seem to get all that. Thankyou so much. 😊
Thank you for reacting to anything by Ren. Bisecting or dissecting Ren's brain may be too much of a challenge for normal human beings. Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational. Ren is an enigma, although not a true enigma according to a "dictionary", since he tells us more about himself and his life than a true enigmatic person would, he isn't mysterious he doesn't hide anything. But he surprises most of us with his diversity. His singing, musical talent with many instruments, acting, narrating and performing is just so captivating, it must be an innate talent! I have been to many concerts and live plays and can see that what he does and is capable of doing is amazing with his health issues, the wisdom of the ages, and only 33! He is like a box of chocolate, maybe just not as tasty, due to some of his thoughts floating around in his head. He surprises most of us with the skills he has that can draw you in. And he does DRAW you in, makes you LOOK makes you THINK makes you want to KNOW more. Is Ren a chameleon? A good definition (I googled of course) "The chameleon effect is not a strategic facsimile of a person's gestures and facial expressions. It's more natural. It's a tendency we all may adopt to imitate someone else's voice and physical gestures so as to create a bond of intimacy and friendship. This can be done either consciously or subconsciously". Yes I personally think Ren is a natural chameleon, and he uses that "innate talent" and is very creative with it. I love Ren and his singing, his music, his voice and incredible talent, I just wish some of his music was less vulgar, fewer "f.." words would be a lot easier to listen to and share with others that are easily offended. I have one friend that will not listen to anything with the "F" word in it. so that doesn't leave much to share unless it's from the 1950's - on up into maybe the 1980's. I am a bit "old school" about music. Ren is changing that for me in my old age. LOL Anyway, love your reactions, ♥ you get it, and yes I agree, Ren needs to be in a movie. I hope he writes it, directs it AND acts in it. It's scary how talented he is.
Ohhh he has like a million facets, hold on tight while we take you on this ride. That last line “bleak was the place where I rose to my feet” - Hi Ren reference 🖤
Have fun with this rabbit hole. He got so many wildly different tunes in his discography. It is insane and nearly every beat done by himself. He is mad talented.
I’m loving watching your discovery of the world that is Ren. He is so talented it’s almost unbelievable! I really enjoyed your reaction and interpretation.
🤣😂 yeah I liked your react, I’m so excited to see you start down the Ren rabbit hole.. and then consequently Chinchilla, and Sam…. So much fun ahead bro Take care Daz
I’m finally going back and watching your early Ren reactions. I’m loving it! You are so expressive and adorable. Thanks for the smiles! I’m seriously ill with autoimmune. So, smiles mean a lot. 😉💙✌️
It was great seeing such joy at seeing Ren changing flows quickly when rapping. You have started the Ren journey which I sure you will appreciate. Take care.
loved your reaction! when it started watching your smile grow was great! sounds like you have been starving for music with substance too..... excellent vid! ♥️🎶🙏🎶♥️
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole!! You have so much to catch up on. Enjoy the journey! If you want to hear from Ren himself, he has done a couple of interviews with some reactors - the best being with Knox Hill. Check it out!
I love your take on REN and his mind, his body and his music. He has and still does deal with his Lymes disease and autoimmunity. He takes all that suffering and turns it into something special, something beautiful so I think you are on the right track. We are lucky to witness this creative and extremely talented artist. There is so much more to discover when you explore his work. You have a new sub and I cannot wait to see your reactions to more of his work ✌🏼
This is still in my top 5 from Ren. To me, he was simply doing this level of rapping to prove that he could. He is from Wales, but he mostly spends his time in Brighton when he's not getting treatment in Canada. He will be in Brighton for a while this summer, and then for career and medical purposes, he is moving to the U.S. later in the year. He hasn't said which state yet. But he did say the north, so if he needs to go back to Canada for treatment, he is kinda more in the middle.
Well done! I've watched countless reactions to this video but you are the first one I've seen that after he mentions Frankenstein he starts moving like Frankenstein .
So glad you enjoyed the Hunger, one of my faves…. React to Losing It next! He was born in Wales, moved to Brighton… can’t wait to see your reactions to more of his masterpieces, all the best, Julie. 🎉
I love your thoughts on that, and it definitely could be meant to be overwhelming because it definitely is. I think the monster/Frankenstein bar to heart. He frankensteined a bunch of flows and pockets and threw them together in a straight jacket.
Nice to see an English person react - you get a few bits the Americans don’t (although you missed the Primark bar!) He’s super intelligent but also straight edge. Remember what he says is tongue in cheek. He’s Welsh/Brightonian
In case you didn't know, some of these now released tracks are a fair few years old now. He managed to get all his catalogue back from Sony when they dumped him for being too ill to make them money :) The twitching relates to his brain damage from wrongful diagnosis and the incorrect medication for his later diagnosed Lyme's disease. He had years of anti depressants and other medication which did a number on him and the Lyme's disease progressed undiagnosed and ate into the covering layer of the brain. He is now having stem cell therapy in Canada which so far so good
Exactly. You saved me typing all that. Thank you. The only thing that people get wrong and upsets Ren is that Sony didn't drop him. It was a mutual decision because Ren was so ill during recordings etc.... he would be doubled up in pain in the toilets. He felt guilty for what he says was, "wasting their time". Other than that, spot on.👍
Absolutely great reaction, I made a comment about becoming Frankenstein, and then started the video again and it’s the very next statement you made. Lol. Great stuff my man keep doing it.
