Renault Clio TCe 90 (2018) | POV Drive on German Autobahn - Top Speed Drive 

Hows the fuel economy in city driving? I drive in JHB CBD everyday

@@jacquesduplessis8944 Economy in city driving is not bad. Driving the TCE90 2018 model. I drive above 10 min city + 10 minutes highway to work at about 100-120 km/h. I drive with a pretty light foot and I get about 650 km on one tank. If you're hitting 120-130km/h or higher on the highway expect to have the Clio guzzle a lot of fuel. the MPG rating on this car (4.5 L/100km combined) was tested at something like... 90km/h no incline on the highway. This was the only way I could get that fuel consumption reading. Obviously, this is what the Clio really is for; a classy looking car decent size for light off-and-on highway driving.

100k km in 4 years man I have a 2003 Clio got it in 2006 its on 166k now No issues so far just changed the transmission fluid at 150k km because it was too much Electrical windows stopped working in 2010 still didn't fix them xD

hey man, does it have a spare tire? or do you have to run runflats

im thinking of getting a used one, ive compares the used and new models to the others eg polo and it seems the most affordable and spacious... Might lack on the performance but im willing to sacrifice, the compromise would be that ill get an auto instead of manual... I just hope its a really decent car overall

​@@exploredecimitry3557 I also have one, it replaced an older 2.0 petrol 143HP FWD Hyundai coupe, and we really like the Clio, in city or lower speed it can be a cute little monster on the streets, on highway it can stand for itself, never really gets ashamed, 150-160kmph can be a comfortable cruising if you feel the need of speed but it is not the Clio's hunting ground to be honest. But it consumes 6.3 l/100km with my other half and 6.7 with me. My main and probably the only worry is how long should we keep it. Bought as new but with the small engine and turbo I don't want to keep it until the manufacturer's guarantee runs out... :)

@@exploredecimitry3557 It shakes a little bit, in terms of stability, right? It's not a BMW, you know... But it gets the job done. Overall it's a good ride, I'm happy with it! It's my first car so it always be special to me! :)

Chassis of the Ford Fiesta is really the best in his class. They're in the setup of engine and Chassis unbelieveable.

@@farzad6560 yeah, but you replace a very robust timing chain (Renault) with a rubber belt that runs in oil and causes many problems (Ford Ecoboost). I wouldn´t do that, no matter how good the Fiesta might be.

Standing at over 100.000 km and engine is still good?! That's like saying "I got hit by a leaf and I'm still alive", do you really espect an engine to fail after 100.000 km?! Damn consumer standars have droped like a brick. I hope you will get much more miles out of it, it's not an "one time use" vehicle.

Because 5 gear is better for its load but there's a 6 speed automatic where it makes 300rpm less with 130kmh

You have 6th gear on the 110hp diesel.

@@PaulHojda I dont think so. Engine is at 3200 revs at speed 130 km/h. Too high, too noisy, too much fuel consumption. 6th gear woul be very welcome. It's the reason why I wouldnt buy this car.

@@bartok75 for a small car like this with its quite small gasoline engine is 3200 revs at 130km/h very low. I drive a Chevrolet Spark with 3000 revs at only 100km/h. This Clio doesn't need a 6th gear.

Owner of a 2018 TCe90 here. This car does easily 6.0-6.5 combined highway and city. If you drive with eco on 24/7 you could achieve around 5.5.

This specimen would do about 185km/h or so, discounting its speedometer error, I do assess. That's respectable for a 90bhp, 0.9-litres turbocharged power plant.

i drive this car too. On the flat max. speed ist 175km/h. So it was Downhill with 195km/h

Depend totally on your usage... you're just doing city road, commuting and just having the usual rare small trip to holidays ? Petrol engine, it will be much more reliable and worth it. You're doing a lot of open road everyday of the week ? Diesel. NEVER take a Diesel if you're only doing city. ok, the fuel is cheaper, but your engine will actualy start to take the low speed and stop and starts quite badly and it will cause damage. Also, the diesel's maintenance will be much more expensive and, if you're not driving a lot, it's not worth it.

Лично езжу на рено Клио 4 уже три года. Плюсы : Налог маленький, расход экономный, удобно сидеть и настраивать руль под себя, мой рост 183 см. Минусы: Это по сути поло, поэтому семье в 4 человека уже не легко путешествовать, динамика разгона при нагрузке не сильная, особенно гору. И всё же рекомендую семье до трёх человек. Компактная, хорошо собранная машинка .

there is not a human in the right mind that would buy a tce90 clio to drive at that speed on the highway, it's just not made for that kind of exploitation. It's just a testdrive so we can see how the car performs on higher speeds, not a race. In day to day usage the car has a good mileage. Not extraordinary, not bad, just ok, in the range that every small turbo gasoline engine has. It's quite a reliable, torquey and fun to drive engine. I'm entitled to say this as i'm driving myself a clio with the same engine every day.

Problem is balance, people want torque and power but also power consumption, you can't have both. Sparing power consumption is mostly done by maintaining speed and giving less power then in past, or by limiting torque giving, by delaying it, hoping the driver will not use it in end, causing spared power consumption, otherwise if you have racing style driving, only smaller low weight car will net you less money, with same driving speed. 6.1-6.7 liter per 100km/h almost everyone quotes this in smaller cars (usually with heavy foot), or 5 liter if economic, 4-4.7l is never reached like manufacturers claim. Fiat Twin air 2 cilinder good example, in theory insanely power efficient (some claim 3l /100km) when on faster roads, but in practise most ppl hit 5-6.5l cause you have to go in high rpm all the time. High rpm ALWAYS exponentially increases power consumption only by cheating in computer (slowing down acceleration) you can limit this a bit. And weight ofc and amount of wind the car takes, rest is meh. For city driving lower cilinders is better cause you don't accidently waste the 4th cilinders petrol consumption every time you pull the car up.

The word Better is subjective Logic tells me the TCE 90 is a better engine although I bought a New Kadjar with 130 hp . 90 hp for the clio is adequate and I can see this engine being reliable as its not pushed to its limits

even? even at 190kmh? It's a city car with 90hp dude, what would you expect? To rock the highways like an audi A8? In most countries top speed on highways is 130km/h, so i don't see why would you actually care if it struggles or not at 190. If you find yourself driving very often at that speed, then buy a bigger, safer, more powerfull car, not a clio. Gosh..

I may add (as a kong time owner) that even if the performance of this engine is not breathtaking, mosty due the fact it does not have direct injection, (it is fuel effient, but not that much, it is quite powerfull but not this much, etc) it has at least one advantage on the VW egnines- even after long drives within 150-170 km/h there have never been a need to add oil. Before i bought one i never considered tce 90 as sufficient for this size od car (i have Clio estate - dimensions like compact cars from few years back), but i was wrong. Surely three are raster cars, but this one is not bad for normal driving within europe

This is exactly what i'm thinking. It's a great city car, and behaves really fine even on long drives. And also looks stunning in my opinion. Also the fuel economy is pretty good, and i think that nowadays the difference between a diesel and and turbo petrol in fuel economy is not that significant anymore, related to higher prices in diesel engines, at least for me.

Most countries normally have a speed limit of 70mph so who cares literally.
