Is the affordable Renault Triber the best budget family 7 seater in the world? Big Six takes it on a real world test to the historic Franschhoek Pass and beyond. You might be surprised by its gravel road prowess. Only on Africa Sideways.
Triber is beautiful, no doubt about that. One of my relative is buying it in couple of days. But as this video is concerned, i remember my stay in South Africa for 4 complete years. The registration plate ending with GP, Gauteng seriously, i had 4 cars with that registration. Good old days and memories. Thanks for bringing it out. Coming back to the point, I cannot see Triber in Europe but basically Renault is partnered here with Dacia so I think they will replace Dacia Lodgy which a 7 seater MPV with Triber. In india its launched with petrol Engine and worth 250,000 ZAR which is almost € 9,000. But if they releasing it in Europe, specially in Czech Republic the Triber will be starting from € 12,000.
@2:30 Those two markets are better distinguished in Europe where the low-cost cars carry the Dacia badge and the high-end cars carry the Renault badge. Dacia had the benefit of being little known in western Europe when Renault revived the company, so it didn't have much negativity to overcome (as VW did with Skoda).
I've done bits of it, and most you can do with good clearance, here's an article on it and advice. I'd take a mate with a 4x4 if you are worried about getting stuck. Or check out Elgin 4x4 trail at the country club. There is an easy road, nice waterfall. www.mountainpassessouthafrica.co.za/find-a-pass/western-cape/item/250-houw-hoek-pass-old.html
