Rendmaw vs Aminatou vs Zimone vs The Lord of Pain EDH / CMDR Precon game for Magic: The Gathering 

Lord of pain with lifelink and bunch of protection is pretty hard to stop. Gaining all the life you lose during combat, can block and gain life back in combat and just brutally whittle down your opponents

I don't think anyone other than Davy played targeted removal this game? And I don't think the Lord of Pain ever had protection.

Rendmaw looks like a commander that would be strong if you just put in your few cheaper Golgari staples and filled the rest with chaff cards that had two card types. Probably a bunch of "not very good" Artifact Creatures and Enchantment Creatures. I think it's really great design for the health of the format

1. This was a precon game, so they’re limited to whatever they have in them, and 2. Said theory depends on a pod having players run removal in a sufficient quantity, which ultimately hinders their deck if they load in too much unless they’re specifically built to be the “patrol/denial” deck. Plus also dependent on actually drawing said removal in a 99 card deck and hoping whoever plays Lord of Pain doesn’t have any number of ways to protect or bring it back as it dies.

@@swrodgon 1) yep, I specified the precons were ok. 2) trust me, having too few removal hinders your deck way more than having too many, simply because of cards like the lord of pain. this game was basically a 3v1 and they couldn't do anything to stop it and since NOBODY has fun playing more than one of such games (not even the lord of pain guy) the natural evolution of a playgroup is everybody's going to put more removal and keep it for the lord of pain or just make their deck even nastier than the lord of pain. I alwas play with the same ~6 people and with both low and high power level decks I've yet to see a game where a card that's basically making a guy the archenemy stays on the board for more than a round. p.s. actually when something like that happens everybody else just concede the game after agreeing they've got no answers and the lord of pain player stops having fun with that deck cause every time they can't even play the game since their commander is either destroyed on sight or their opponents concede right after, so they'll soon change commander or stop playing that deck completely. (already seen that happen with najeela, sithis, tergrid and i've personally changed nadier for tevesh szath cause it was too consistent and mandatory to end the game with it)
