I think the coupe looks better. I bought a 76 coupe in 1978 when I worked at a Ford dealer. Mine had the 2.8 V-6, 4 speed. I did have some head work done to it and had a custom set of dual exhaust with some cherry bomb’s. Mine looked good. I leveled the front and rear suspension by adding 1” aluminum spacers on top of the front springs and got and added an extra leaf spring from an Econoline van. I worked in the front end and power steering department at the dealer. So the rubber snubber that went to the front suspension of the F150’s and mounted it at both ends of the extra leaf spring, worked well, a little stiff thought. I had some Firestone Super Sport tires, 60’s all the way around mounted on some American made Anson deep dish slotted mags. Car looked pretty tough, minus the 302. I really wanted that engine. Oh well long time ago.

The blue one looks like an AMX. Consider it a compliment.

Wow, really nice Mustangs. Brings back memories. When I was 18, I bought a 1975 Mustang II coupe in dark forest green with light green interior. It was less than 2 years old, a trade in at the Chevy dealership I worked at. It had 12,000 miles on it. Paid $2,500 for it. 4 cylinder with automatic. Wouldn't even pull itself out of it's own shadow. I immediately pulled the engine and trans and dropped in a 289 and auto out of a 1967 Mustang that I built up using all Speedomotive parts. The only thing I didn't do was the machine work. Man that thing would fly. I was driving back home late one night from my girlfriend's house on I40 and a trucker decided he wanted to race me. I had that speedo pegged past 120 and I sucked a valve. I hadn't taken the time to break the engine in properly. I was a kid, what did I know. Oh, I also installed a set of American Racing wheels similar to the ones you have on the blue one you have. When I got married, I sold the car to my best man who lived several states away. Last I heard, he blew the transmission and left it sitting on the side of the road where it got stolen. I wish I had never sold it. I've thought about building another one over the years, just never got around to it.

WOW! I Love what you did to these two Hot Rods! Reminds me when I had my "78" Ghia with the 2.4! One day I had it parked out in the back driveway and some kid came up the alley noticing it with his "75" Rally with the T-Tops and he offered me $500 for my Sally for parts, and I told him I would never sell her just so he could cut her up, so then he laid out $600 on my car and I was like, OK I'll go get the pink slip! LMSFAO!

Those rims on the Blue car look like ones that Car Craft magazine put on a Vega project car from 77 or 78. The car was on the cover of the magazine, I think it was Car Craft, not sure. Anyway maybe some of you all might remember, it was basically a yellow car with some blue accents, and tinted windows, fender flares and some other stuff. It’s been a long time ago, so can’t remember too much. I graduated in 77 and used to get all those Chevy type publications.👍🏻🤓

Normally I shy away from the Mustang II... I remember being so excited when they released the 78' Cobra. At the time I was driving a 76' Trans Am. Thinking that the Cobra might be more muscle car. It was so disapointing to me & just too petite! I mean as a collector car: I like them. Still today my D.D. IS A 30 year old SVT COBRA 95'. Also have a 67' coupe street mod haven't driven in a very long time! Thank you for sharing your passions. J

Everyone knows the 78 Cobra it was all show and no go. Why didn't you know that?
@johnmcmullen456
@johnmcmullen456 5 месяцев назад
@@randycoursey7230I was a young driver at that time and remember enthusiasts were hopeful Ford would finally do the right thing with the Cobra. Yet another disappointment to find out it was no more than an appearance package. All the U.S. manufacturers fell into the stripes, spoilers & stickers gimmick at that time to generate excitement in the showrooms while performance was totally lame.

I just bought a 76 and 78, as a bundle for 11k, I plan on selling the 76, and then building the 78, it doesn’t take much to wake up the lower compression 302s

Those flush mount bumpers really make the car. They were so ugly from the factory with the hang on bumpers with no effort made to integrate them. A power antenna would be a nice addition to the streamlining, it looks out of place being chrome
@studebricker2845
@studebricker2845 5 месяцев назад
Exactly. I always wondered why the 70s Corvettes had nice integrated bumpers, but other sporty cars of the era did not.

What was ford thinking when they decided to kill the mustang this is the garbage you see in europe and Australia now these two are maybe the best version on the planet but what ford did to this brand was criminal
@phestur13
@phestur13 5 месяцев назад
They were a victim of the decade, everything from 74 on became lame, smog Era, de-tuned, all due to the gas shortages and looming perceived doom. However, the mustang II is what actually saved the mustang line, by '73 the mustang became a big and bloated land yacht, sales had drastically fallen off and it was slated to be terminated. The smaller and at that time sporty version of the II staved off the axe, yes, they were powerless 4 and 6 cylinder, only a handful had the v8, and still under 170 HP. But the rack and pinion steering was hi tech and to this day used in most racing and restomod builds. Now, I visioned these much different than Ford did back then...lol. if it ain't cool...I'll make it cool...hahaaaa!

I don't know your age but I,m 62 and grew up with those bad boys of the day in Chicago I still think the 68 69 fastback mustangs were the coolest looking Carson the planet along with chevelles the 67 GTO I thought was also a great looking car actually every American muscle car was awesome how about the cuda challenger THE GOOD OLD DAYS

I'm 55, not far off. I agree, 69 FB is my fave. I also had a 67 Lemans, that I made cooler, cloned the front GTO but left the rear Lemans as I liked the tail lights better, there's video here on my page of it, just gotta scroll back a few pages..hahaaa. more of my builds on Facebook, trucks and cars.
@johnmcmullen456
@johnmcmullen456 5 месяцев назад
@@phestur13Haters won't admit it but the Mustang II was a major sales success. Google it if any doubts. The rack & pinion steering, double A arm front suspension, and 8" rear provides a decent foundation to do a proper build with a stroker 302.
