I can remember hearing this song on the radio when I was only 7 years old in the late 70s. After all these years I didn’t even know the name of the song or the person who sang it but I only remembered the tune of the song that would play in my head every time I would think of it until finally today I couldn’t believe that sadly today in my lounge room watching the news on my big screen tv, It was announced that Renee Geyer who sang this song had sadly passed away with tears in my eyes. This song brings back a lot of my childhood memories of my mum, dad and my 3 sisters living with my great grandparents until we got our own home. I remember when my great pop was desperately looking for his lost cattle dog Ginger, missing for a week until he found him dead killed by dingoes. When pop came home to tell us the sad news I was so sad to hear the bad news then this song came on my great grandparents old radio. Every time this song would pop in my head I would think of Ginger our loving cattle dog who was our protector who would watch over us playing out on my great grandparents farm. Now 2023 I can finally listen by putting all the pieces together to listen to this beautiful song on RU-vid with tears 😢

Beautiful song...not sure I'd agree that Mariah "sampled" this though. I can actually hear a lot of songs in this...notably from Diana Ross ("Ain't No Mountain" and "I Thought It Took A Little Time"). A lot of songs out there have a similar chord progression to this, so it's hard to say anyone took it from anyone else...
I don’t know what’s not clear about it…ain’t no mountain and I thought may have similarities…..but we belong together is practically identical. Maybe you have to listen a little closer
