Incredible in the literal sense of the word. To someone like me, who struggles immensely with everything shading related, it looks like outright witchcraft. Like, I'm _that close_ to calling the catholic church.
I literally have my jaw wide open looking at this. It does appear out of thin air. That's so masterful to just be able to do that so quickly and easily. Wow just incredible.
@@iAmNothingness don't lie to him, practice won't lead him anywhere, at least not if he has incredibly high spatial reasoning and deep abstract thinking (talent).
I've never seen anyone render this way, it's like you're sketching shadows with an airbrush first, then tightening up details. It seems like it comes together really quick too.
I find it so important that you narrate/talk in your videos, it helps us understand and learn better as your students. Your work and methods also keep getting better and simpler to assimilate, great job Christophe!
Your Canvas must be very large for a 50 pixel brush to look so small on it? You have so much control over a soft round brush that the lines look so crisp I don't know how you do it... it's just magic. I just discovered you the other day, and you elevated to the top of my favorite artist list! Anyways, love your videos, your artwork, and I aspire to get this great!
@@vezeveer Artists in general, or RU-vidrs who show their process and teach art? For the latter I recommend Sinix Design, Marco Bucci, Marc Brunet, SamDoesArts, and Philipp Urlich Fantasy Art Channel. If you're also interested in classical art, then you may further add Richard Smitheman, Proko, Chuck Black, and Andrew Tischler to the list. For artists in general the list is obviously longer. So tell me if you wanna know then I'll sample my 200+ ArtStation followings :D
This is might be the most useful speedpaint I've seen in a while. I tried to watch some parts on 0.25 to understand some of your actions, and all I can say is that you are the master of photoshop. The way you work with layers, masks, how you merge things is new to me and throughout the video I felt lost a little bit lol
wow you're so talented.. I been watching your videos for almost a year now. I downloaded your brushes but can never replicate your style. Its so good and so fresh.
I've seen other artists approach their paintings in a similar fashion, but your use of a soft textured brush and switching to different sizes for the big and small details turned on a light-bulb for me. Because I used to draw pencil sketches and shade things all the time as a kid. I was very good at doing life-like shading on portraits and still-lifes. So your approach might be THE way I can work towards more realistic painted concept art. I'll have to give this approach a try soon. Thank you so much for this extended process video.
Absolutely stunning. You mentioned in the video that this illustration took about 9 hours in total. I think if you posted a nine hour video, I would have watched every minute without taking a break. Your work, technique, and results are truly captivating, and awe inspiring!
Thank you for posting these masterclasses to You Tube. being able to watch these videos with the ability to rewatch, rewind, pause, slow down etc. has been so valuable to my learning experience. Christophe, if you see this, can you explain the function the Pattern Fill layers? Thanks.
If I was to choose between watching this video and going to the toilet to relieve myself of an upset stomach, I'd definitely choose this remarkable video. In fact, I just did it exactly. Now, I can go to the toilet. BTW, amazing masterpiece, Brother. Also, it's very therapeutic to watch., I almost forget about my present dilemma.
Amazing! I'm a long time casual artist, newly trying to really dig in to it, and your art is so amazing and inspirational! Brush packs bought and channel subscribed to~! 🥰
This is mesmerizing. It's therapeutic watching the art unfold. I still think it's rocket science though. Knowing how lighting would affect materials, folds, highlights on metallic parts... My brain just can't.
Your wonderful paintings, the design style, the ideas you use, wonderful, thank you very much, you are very influential in my development. Please continue with the same speed and power
If you’re like me, watching at 0.25x is the best for this. I have a concern about speed but if you can sit four hours, you realize how long it can be. So much insight lost at 1x speed mehn. Nice work man. Love it!
Your rendering skills are so magical! As others have said, I can't believe how easily (?) the forms begin to appear when you started sculpting!! Are you swapping between different brushes or is it all one brush (when you're doing the first black/white pass post-sketching)? It truly is amazing!
It’s all one brush, quickly changing brush size - he explains and shows it all in detail in earlier videos (the ones with the spheres in the thumbnail). 😊
@@SpyanLord sorry you feel bad about yourself to the point where you have to say stuff like this. i also watched this video as i finished a character illustration. wishing better days upon you friend
It's great to get that behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making amazing digital work. It puts into perspective the amount of thought and technical skill put forward to output this level of quality. Thanks for sharing, it's always inspiring to see other artists' processes.
I have a question: I have noticed you seem to place all the blocked out colours on one clipping mask (as opposed to one clipping mask per colour) - how on earth do you then quick select the desired colour that’s one layer e.g. yellow, especially if it’s fragmented into several different places? Why not have several clipping masks on separate layers?
thank you so much for this process video, your narration was really informative and such beautiful work!! (if it's alright to ask, do you have a link to a patreon post/etc where i could download/purchase the brushes you used here, for that charcoal/soft pencil effect? i've been looking for something like it for a really long time!)
Fascinating. I was searching for a greyscale(ish) to Color workflow. This appears to be eerily similar to what I am searching for. Noted And thank you.
This is so fricking cool!! I am just starting to explore and experiment with character design. Now I have a lot of stuff to try out! Thank you so much for sharing!
@@SpyanLordu said a similar thing to someone else who got motivated by the video. Do you seriously go and try to demean anyone who got inspired? Are you really that miserable that you have to try and push others down to your level? Because it clearly sounds like you’re the one who isn’t able to get anywhere.
