It's hard listening to people talk about Eminem, that really don't know much about him. Your first thought of him is killing his mom. He has so many motivational songs but you talk about 1% of his catalog, its annoying. I guess you guys just skim through the music.
Few points: No Em didn't change his verses... He only change the original one part of the original where he says ( Cause, here we go: He's Royce, he's the King of Detroit) and changed to ((Jigga joint Jigga-chk-Jigga) bc now is Jay on the song and not Royce Were you guys talking about on He saying his killing and doing shit with woman... he responded that on other track (activists when they raggin', actin' like I'm the first rapper to smack a. bitch, or say fa*** shit) you guys cleary been affected by the media on that bc way bf him there was rappers killing man woman and kids on their lyrics and with horror core type like EM... Brotha Lynch as a example And Jay and EM are cleary talking to the Critics and to the ppl that buy in to those articles... so Jay explain what he being trhu that's why they can relate, while EM only says you don't know what I'm being trhu, bc at this point he already had said in other tracks and then he goos direct at the critics, parents and media that at the time was LITERALLY on the streets and news portesting his music!!
I already know how this is gonna go your going to pick Jay-Z, remember Em is the biggest selling rapper in the world 🐐 Em washed Jay-Z. Jay-Z even said it in an interview Em washed him fact
Who cares if he sold the most. That has nothing to do with talent. Vanilla ice sold alot too. Selling more just means more prejudiced white people supported their own. Jay never said eminem washede him. In fact Jayz had a far superior verse because eminem as he usually odes talks a bunch of bs that his racist drug addict stans eat up
People need to see that Jay Z needed Eminem more the Eminem needed Jay Z and the Super Bowl! Like he told that man on the phone to stow his shit with 50 and invite him or he wasn’t going to do the show! People act like Jay Z is the one because US a rap media tell them so they are brainwashed to only consider Jay Z because he and his people paid for him to be the number one rapper according to Billboard because Jay Z needs the US market still!! He doesn’t have the global reach that Eminem does. Jay Z still has t come close to Eminem sales or his status as a rapper he’s the 10th selling aritist of all time something Jay Z will never come close too. The us rap media does a great job of hiding what Eminem is Doing weekly and monthly with streaming not only sales wise but view wise but they will mention if Jay Z farts really loud!
It’s like saying a physicist can’t relate to a chemist, bros wtf LMAO. . . You’re gonna gravitate toward what you know, but don’t act like one is more relevant than the other . . .
Why would you say he's only talking to white kids, as if black kids didn't listen to Eminem? Cordae and Juice World just made a song paying tribute to Role Model by Eminem. "DOOMSDAY" so please explain how he doesn't influence black rappers or the kids back then? Stop living in a box the world is bigger than your hood.
Wow what a comment there's a typical Em false narrative that just keeps being said. Ems versus has just as much meaning as Jay-Z's what an ignorant statement. (He's not saying anything) hahaha
@Verse For Verse Podcast He was correct that this was originally an Eminem song with Royce da 5'9 on it. And nope absolutely wrong Eminem did not change his verse at all it's exactly the same verse he just took Royce off of the song and sent it over to Jay z and then Jay z wrote his verse. That should tell everybody all they need to know....
@@straight2thecomments278The entire message behind Em's verse is that he's different from everybody, Hov is the same as everybody, that's why you can relate to him, you have every right to prefer Hov's verse,, I don't relate to Neither, I didn't grow up a thug, never sold drugs,, but the point of all of this is, who had the better verse lyrically, and Em got that, it's obvious.
Eminem showed how great he is technically, as a rapper. Jay showed how much of an artist and master of words and conveying emotion. I marvel at how simply he can convey emotion and thoughts so simply and effectively.
On the point trying to be made regarding Em saying wild things that are deemed “unrelatable…” The argument can also be made that Jay speaks on things (that has maybe done or experienced) in his music as well. It’s all context. They’re both say things that (to some, depending on your perspective), are wild in their own right. And in general, Em has literally been banned in multiple countries. And was “cancelled” a hundred times way before cancel culture was even a thing. Lol. In general, I don’t feel there is a “winner” on this track. I feel they complement each other perfectly and that’s why Renegade will always be one of the greatest pieces of hip hop history ever created. (Respectfully, in my humble opinion). ✌🏽
At the time, Eminem was experimenting with drugs. He didn't really fall into addiction until a couple years later. You can hear in his music when the drugs started to become a problem. His flow changed and he started slurring words more. Also, you can't say he had privilege and was allowed to say crazy stuff because he was white, when there were protests outside of venues to keep him from performing. He had lawsuits because of his lyrics. He's been banned from performing in several states. His music gets less airtime on the radio than most rappers. Who else faced as much scrutiny, for their lyrics, as Eminem? If anything, it was a double-edged sword. He received more awareness because "white America" was listening to him. But they also criticized him more because they didn't want THEIR children hearing it. Jay Z never had that kind of backlash. He talks about selling drugs, f*ckin b*tches, etc. People didn't care the way they did with Eminem. Plenty of black rappers have talked about crazy shit like Em, but they never got hated on as much. Jay's verse is dope af, but his flow wasn't as clean as Em's. Both are talking to critics of their music. Both are addressing the fact that people judge them by their lyrics, without knowing them personally. Both are relatable to a specific group more than the other. If you're gonna give Jay credit for teaching outsiders what it's like in the hood, then you have to give Em credit for teaching outsiders what it's like being in his situation. Millions relate to Eminem. Not just white kids. Throughout his catalog, he paints a clear picture of what he went through in his life. Even things that are relatable to black people. It's just that most hear the narrative that is painted by the media or they hear his radio hits, and never dive into his music. I really like the conversation and way you guys are presenting this. I just wish you had someone there who knows more about Eminem, to fill in the gaps. Keep it up. About to go watch part 2 lol
