+Racheal Jackson Yep, there are some movies that give its actors a bad name...and then there are others that make them a laughing stock for years, requiring them to slowly rebuild their reputation until they can finally get a decent role again. And even then, the movie will still follow them as a permanent mark on the rest of their career.
To be fair, the performance an actor gives is also dependent on their direction. If the director says, "do it this way," the actor is typically obligated to do it that way, even if they don't think it's very good. And yes, that *can* ruin an actor's reputation just because he was specifically following the craptastic requirements of their director. That's why actors sometimes will turn down a role for a part they expect will be a flop; they don't want to be caught in a trap where they are either contractually obligated to shoot their career in the foot, or pay a large penalty or breaking contract to get out of the part and save their career.
MisterB Well.....on the bright side, at least he wasn't physically bullied until he swore off movies all together. Unlike the poor boy who played child Anakin Skywalker.
Racheal Jackson he wasn’t bad the movie was just shit the writing was shit most of the acting was shit the person that played bulls was fine, Goku was fine and chi chi was okay. Roshi was awful, Yamcha was fucking trash he was a Asian Pop star fucking garbage
So, from what I heard (not sure how true it is though), Piccolo was going to just have normal skin, but the actor playing him refused to do it unless he was painted green. So, at least one person knew what they were doing in this movie.
At the beginning when they said "Was Ghost in the Shell Bad? Yes, Then this was REALLY Bad" Nate replied "Actually GITS was superior", like he disagreed with them. They WERE saying it was better, they said GITS was bad but Dragonball Evolution was really bad.
Kevin Granger I actually really liked GITS. I felt it did pretty well for a live action adaptation (though why they chose to have the head of the team speak in Japanese the whole movie while everyone else speaks English still baffles me) and was loving all the visual references to the original anime movie. And I honestly never really learned Major Motoko's backstory, so it was nice to have something like that to work off from and got me really interested the further the movie went
Yeah, the live action GITS movie was nothing like the original, I mean why use a scene from the anime only to change the dialogue so it does not make sense(I am mostly talking about the scuba-diving scene)
"No, Ghost in the Shell was actually superior to this." That's what Critic said. He asked if Ghost in the Shell was bad, and then said that this movie was WORSE. Glad you enjoyed this. I was hoping you would react to it. 😂
The behind the scenes and bloopers of this review is just as good as the review itself. Especially Malcolm fanboying over Littlekuriboh and Masako at every chance he gets.
Dragon Ball is based off of Sun Wukong and The Journey to the West! Dragon Ball Z is filled with action, suspense and interesting Story to follow along! (My Favorite Show) Dragon Ball GT has some cool moments but a really Boring Plot! Dragon Ball Super has got twists and turns but its got all the right kind of action and suspense! Dragon Ball Evolution has disappointment and boredom!
dragonball is not really journey to the west after 13 episodes..i'm just going to let you know...that was before it was picked up by shonnen jump to be weekly and continue...it becomes action based from then on but sadly many people see the weird sex driven humor at the start and think the show is slow and thus they watch like 2 eps then skip it and go to z not realizing the pacing after episode 2 picks up a lot cause they added some filler to the first 2 chapters to extend them to 2 full episodes instead of 1 to get their feet wet and sure episode 6 and especially 9 feel very fillery when the show thought it would end after 12 episodes cause the content they had was so limited the first arc wraps up like a possible open ended finale of the series so they put in some filler to make a 10 episode series last 13 eps not knowing they didn't have to do so cause it would continue ...but sadly many people do give up on the show around episode 2 because its all about a turtle and pilafs gang and goku and blooma bonding cause its slow.. its really stupid how many people are impatient with storytelling and just want to get to action without build up...honestly once you get to episode 14 it becomes the show you thought it would be
@@happymcdull-4209 I think he was mostly referring to the locations, the costumes and so forth - the design-aspect of the film. The Fire Nation-ships definately look like Fire Nation-Ships, for example.
I was gifted this movie by one of my friends back in Elementary. I thought "I'll watch it once I finish playing Raging Blast 2, it's based off Dragon Ball, it can't be bad, right?" I never touched it. Ever. I only watched the review, and my reaction was "WOW, Did I do myself a favor by not watching it!"
I agree, but with the caveat that they react to multiple episodes at a time for the early episodes, since they are both short and not as good as the post-episode 10 stuff.
Yep...the first episode has a lot of classic funny call backs too..hey joey earth to joey hey are you in there its your move..sorry yuig doing this brooklyn accent makes it difficult to concentrate on a children's card game...I know what you mean my voice is pretty crazy too, I'm thinking bout changing it.. .that kaiba kid needs to get laid..m. big time... and of course wait a minute did you just summon a bunch of monsters in 1 turn!? Yeah So..thats against the rules isnt it....(insert line about screwing the rules)..
Oh hey, James Marsters is Piccolo!... That should be so much more awesome than it turns out to be. I mean the guy was Spike in Buffy for god's sake. (Also, can't believe it took me this long to realize that's the joke when Piccolo went as Spike to the Brief's family Halloween party in TFS's first Halloween special)
Fun fact about that. After James Marsters got the role, he watched all of Dragon Ball to get as good an understanding of the character as possible. He went on record saying it was the most awesome cartoon he had ever seen. After finally seeing the script, he was almost furious at all the changes from the source material. He supposedly was fighting at every turn to at least make Piccolo closer to his original depiction.
3:28 No Nate, Toriyama has *never* said he would go back and rewrite Dragon Ball GT, if anything he likes GT and is very appreciative of the Toei staff writers for making the show. Also, Toriyama was the one approving the storylines for GT and was the one giving ideas to them. Also, GT was *not* the reason Akira made Dragon Ball Super. The real reason he made Super was because of the poor execution of Dragon Ball Evolution and the success of DBZ Kai, Dragon Ball Heroes (a very popular arcade game in Japan), Battle Of Gods, and Resurrection Of F. I like you guys, but seriously don't go around spreading false information when you don't do enough research of the franchise.
@16:15 I swear I thought you were holding up a pizza for a second. XD "Chew the Fat, Harmony Star, Surf Ninja and Elijah Wooden." My god, that was beautiful. XD
Fun fact: after seeing this film, Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, refused to let this movie be the final word of the series. So he instead created Dragon Ball Super.
The whole TFS team would have been perfect...... granted though Critic doesn't have a big enough table and too many commentators might make the video drag on and I doubt any of us wanted to have to relive this shit show of a movie any longer than we had too.
Ironic that littlekuriboh has barely watched dragonball ...he knows from research memes talking with others but he doesn't have time for that shit and never even watched it as a kid..he's barley watched yugioh
I'd really expect them to do a mic test before every video by this point given how many times they've had mic failures... Or maybe they do and their mics are just on hair triggers...
that intro, ah the good ol' days of watching anime all the way from the beginning while they are finishing the voice acting, waiting for new episodes XD Good times, good times
I knew Dragon Ball Evolution was going too be a failure the moment I saw the 1st poster. I hadn't seen any trailers for it yet and the only bit I've heard of it was from a news article.
Of every review of Dragon Ball Evolution, Nostalgia Critic and Double Toasted have some of the best moments involving Grandpa Gohan's dead laughter. Little Kuriboh: Even his dead Grandpa laughs at how ridiculous that looks. Korey: HIs dead grandpa is just laughin' his ass off, thinkin': "Remember the melons Goku. I know you gettin' your ass beat somewhere."
1:38 - To make matters worse, when the show first aired on Fox, they aired the episodes out of order, so the show actually STARTED with them going to Namek, and they did the Saiyan Saga after Goku showed up and defeated Recoome. People who watched it back then were really confused.
I just found out that the woman who plays Bulma was in Andrew Loyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. I knew she was familiar but I couldn't remember where I knew her from.
James Marsters, the guy who played Piccolo, was such a die-hard fan of Dragon Ball. I feel so bad about him having to be in this shithole, but he got to play a Dragon Ball Super character, so I guess he got to live his dream.
I consider AtLA an anime too. It's about style, that's the difference between anime and cartoons. AtLA resembs an anime, therefor it can be considered anime. Also I like DBGT. :P
True story. The day this movie came out in theaters I went to see it and only one other person was in the theater. Meanwhile, my brother had been dragged by his girlfriend and my sister to see the Hannah Montana movie. To this day, I envy my brother in that situation.
*Marshall Burlew* - Toriyama looked up into the smoke of this dumpster fire and saw what would become of his legacy if this was truly the end... And now we get Super, which I enjoy. My biggest criticism of Super is that they keep C**kteasing Buu as a fighter, while constantly making him useless.
Atleast they give us SSJG(God),SSJB(Blue),Whis,Beerus,Hit,Jiren,Caulifla,Kale,Kefla,TOP Arc(Tournament Of Power Arc),Evil Goku Arc(no I'm not going to call him Goku Black because that's sounds racist and wrong),Universe 6 Arc,DBS Broly,DBS/Canon Gogeta and most importantly 👇 ULTRA INSTINCT!
29:19 well if you can if you can just consider something an anime because you feel like it then my favourite anime is Shrek, Hannah Montannah and Seinfeld.
Now hold it right there. Just he thinks avatar is anime, doesn't mean that he takes out of thin air, since the show incorporates many elements from japanese animation. It would by that standart be considered anime.
Fun fact of the day, something doesn't need to be Japanese to be anime. The word anime began as just the Japanese word for animation but these days it refers to the style itself.
Autum Breeze Mai is a woman who works for one of the first enemies in dragon Ball, emporor pilaf, and she uses guns and robots to try to stop Goku from messing up pilaf's plans of world domination. In super she, along with her boss and teammate, are kids again and try to steal the Dragon balls from bulma's birthday party.
I did a reaction to this myself and lets just say....I had to hold myself back from punching my computer screen, it was actually even worse than I remember it being I guess I should count myself lucky it was only a review and not the whole movie
Full disclosure before watching the video I used to love Dragon Ball in my childhood but now I just find it rather meh. There is way too much talking where they should be fighting and it just drags ooooooon. Now I prefer the abridged version as while they kept the talking sections in they made it entertaining by using that time to make comedic dialogue which keeps the viewer engaged and distracts from just how long these parts are and how the interrupt they fight, which I just love. Oh and the Dragon Ball "Devolution" is the biggest slap in the face on par with Avatar.
Marterez_ZQ: So because of one character who only in less than 20% of the majority of the episodes, you can’t watch it? Can you give me a better excuse?
But... Dragon Ball isn't only about the fights. Heck, Dragon Ball Z had a large amount of fights, but the show wasn't ONLY about that. Heck. Dragon Ball had more comedy and jokes and dialogue than fighting, but it's still good.
22:10 wait.."the original goku that hated fighting"?...what the hell are you guys talking about...goku's lust for a good fight basically it's the reason dragonball exists ò_ò
majukun He didn’t want to go around picking fights with people, he just enjoyed combat in general. His saiyan side gave him a lust for combat, but he was also a pacifist. If a fight did start, he’d want his opponent to be at full power but he never actively looked for someone to beat up.
Tfs Cell: Yamcha....out of all the side characters you picked HIM, he wasn’t even on the list....KRILLIN was on the list!!! KRILLIN: wait why was I.....? Tfs Cell: Part time entertainment KRILLIN: frankly I’m happy to be included
There was a petition signed by I think 10,000 fans of Dragonball which stated they would not go watch this movie just from the previews. I signed and still refuse to watch this garbage.
13:03 Goku is Saiyan but he is supposed to appear as Japanese, much like how Superman is kryptonian but appears to be caucasian or Icon from milestone comics is a Terminan but appears to be African-American.
I find it funny that the guy that played Goku was also in a Doctor Who Christmas special. he played a guy who was essentially superman, and he played a better Goku in that than this film.
