@@DefinitivelyZach Another detail is his previous Bankai name was "Hihio", but as Ichibe said that is only part of the Bankai. Now we know the true meaning of Hihio was an attack from the baboon arm. It also makes sense that his previous Bankai was large b/c of this. Since he was calling out his Bankai as the Baboon arm it came out large and malformed since he was kind of forcing out the Snake improperly. Also the way he used it was like an extension of his arm (I think he even said this in the OG anime, but I may have misremembered) just like how he is now using Hihio as an extension of his arm, except now he's not using the Snake in the Baboon's technique. I love how things are foreshadowed and connect together in Bleach.

About Shinji, Kensei and Rose not using their hollwfication, I have 3 reasons: Reason 1: They can only maintain their hollow mask for 3 minutes at a time, and it's really taxing in terms of stamina. With the situation being what it is, they most certainly expect to fight more than just one Sternritter, and were keeping it for when it would be an absolute necessity, then simply got wrecked before even having the chance to use it. Reason 2: This one is for Shinji and Rose. They are fully "special ability" oriented, in other words as long as their abilities works on the opponent, more power is useless to them. Reason 3: This one is admittedly speculation. As said in reason 1, they have pretty limited time for the hollow mask, and it's taxing in terms of stamina. A bankai is also pretty taxing in terms of stamina, it's not hollow mask level in that aspect but still, and the only exception among bankais is Tensa Zangetsu, as Ichigo was shown to be able to stay in bankai for pronloged periods of time. My point here is, putting something extremely stamina taxing on top of something already somewhat taxing probably isn't a good idea. It's entirely plausible that for those 3, using the hollow mask on top of the bankai is simply too detrimental compared to the advantages it gives.

11:14 That's his shikai, I think. When he activated in the past to save Hisagi, his zanpakutō changed from sword to knife. Curiously, pre-timeskip he seemed to be always in shikai - except when he went bankai against Wonderweiss. But here he seems to have a sword on his belt again while blocking Mask's foot.
So, essentially 'James' and 'Mask' are two parts of the same whole. So long as Mask exists, James can keep returning to cheer him on; so long as James exists, his cheers can heal and further empower Mask. The way I view it as working is that the Reishii connection between them maintains both sides of the existence, with Mask using his Quincy abilities to form James and then using James to fuel his strength. He was pushed so far and James had taken so much damage that the incoming Reishii was not able to compensate for the amount of Reishii Mask was forced to use. That's why Mask didn't reform James right away... he needed all that Reishii to fight Renji. So, when Renji uses his Bankai here, he completely destroys the last of the Reishii Mask managed to gather and his body withered away. Hence "he burned himself out". Also, to note, Mask IS James. There is debate on whether the child or the adult is his 'true' body and which is the Reishii construct. My belief is that James represents Mask as who he is, a person that's not particularly strong but looks up to 'Superheroes', people capable of going beyond limits. Mask is James as what he want to be, the very Superhero that James can look up to. It's paralleling the whole era of WWF Wrestling, with Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, and Randy Savage, because a lot of children looked up to those characters in the same way James looks up to Mask.

I waas just thinking what if in the laast oabel of the manga when ichigo calls orihime to watch the movie with them, for the whole time his eyes were hidden and then in the last page he look up and his eyes are like soul king (the wierd star shape pupil). Man it would be both chilling and thrilling

@@gig7932 Ichigo can do it because his hollow is literally his soul reaper power/ his Zanpaktou. Its stated multiple times that using the mask is very very exhausting and using with bankai or even shikai it wouldn't last very long. Eg Mashiro who can maintain her hollowfied form for 15 hours but when in battle it breaks after a few minutes. So in short they can use bankai when hollowfied but it's not a good idea.
I didn't intend to spoil you on anything, I thought we could share predictions. I'm anime only, just a few huge plot points have been spoiled for me over the past 10 years and I wouldn't dream of sharing those here or on anyone's fresh reaction videos. Rukia and Renji were simply the only ones I thought made sense. They've always been a pair since the end of the SS Arc, and the timing, placement, and presentation made it clear to me that it was them. I'll keep my theories to myself from now on.

If Renji didn't have this loyalty to Byakuya now he could easily become a captain for a different Squad. Mask destroyed 3 lieutenant level and 2 captain level fighters. yea, but what I know little spoiler: kensei buffed in novel after zombiefication, so technically renji maybe is stronger than him even now, but not with that power difference like in this episode

both rukia and renji got the royal palace gears on as well they were both trained in the soul palace so both absorbed super reishi so i think thats why hes so strong
My theory on Renji's bankai goes back to what Byakuya said, that bankai are supposed to be trained for 10years and not everyone can do it. But both Renji and Ichigo forced it in like 3 days which turned out to be incomplete as Byakuya said when he fought Renji. So in both cases, I'm sure if they are given 10 years, Renji would have been accepted to this bankai + Ichigo would have figured his true bankai as well. There's also another case of this later in another cour lol.
Actually, it was stated that Renji had already started undergoing the Bankai training prior to him meeting up with Ichigo in the underground training area that he was already at the manifestation of his Zanpaukto it’s just that he finally attained it prior to his fight with Byakuya

while Hihio Zabimaru only showed the snake part, So Oh Zabimaru showed both the Gorilla and the Snake. a very unique power system and was also foreshadowed in the earlier seasons. Kubo never missed.

@@doomzday4623 yeah, I recently heard that as well. However, I did come up with a few possibilities that I feel might actually be very likely. 1. They didn’t hollowfy because their bankais should have already been hollowfied thanks to the pills. 2. Seeing as though we never saw it before, perhaps the vizards can’t use their hollow mask and powers at the same time (Ichigo’s done it, but his hollow and Soul Reaper powers are one and the same). 3 (the option I think is the most likely). Using their bankai and mask together might make the hollow inside them too strong to control, causing them to go on a rampage.
Unlike Ichigo whose Zanpakuto is Hollowfied, the Visored's soul was the one that was Hollowfied not the Zanpakuto itself, so using Hollow mask would def buff them (Not the bankai) but at the same time it's also not a good choice since it would drain their stamina too fast, sticking to shikai and bankai is much a better choice to at least reserve some strength after a fight 'cause you'll never know when you will get jumped at. In order for a Quincy to get poisoned, their reishi must have contact with the Hollow reiatsu, it's not something where just being near a Hollow would kill them. Remember they gathered a bunch of Arrancar but nothing happened. *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler* just like what happened to Zaraki, after Gremmy fucked himself up, the Quincy girls were jumping on Kenpachi, he could barely move thus not being able to dodge any of Candice's attacks.

He can be killed, but will resurrect so long as Mask is alive. So yes, you can say he is immortal. He only dies if he’s disintegrated and resurrects as long Mask is alive. Remember, that Yhwach was the one who bestowed him the power. And that it returned to him. Furthermore, Yhwach’s version of this power cannot be weaker than the one James had.
