Installation of a Renogy Battery Monitor for Duel Battery System inside a 2014 Toyota Hliux.
This system in looking after the monitoring of an auxiliary battery as part of a duel battery setup. This system is charged via both solar and the vehicle alternator, (favoring solar when available). System charging is managed using a REDARC BCD1225D 3-stage DC/DC Charger. (I personally don't like Renogy's DC/DC chargers, I've never had a reliable one)

NOTE: In this video I discuss the Attenuation Ratio (Atten) setting. Again for clarity, this is like an automatic battery capacity reducer built into the monitoring system. It is used to reduce the overall battery capacity by the set percentage after each cumulative full charge / discharge cycle.
This setting is unnecessary for most installations and will likely lead to incorrect information being displayed if set wrong. I recommend leaving it set at 0.000% unless you know what you are doing.

Really good video and your energy and knowledge for this subject is very evident. I have viewed a number of videos on this subject and I find it fascinating that in the matter of setting up a shunt device to monitor battery level that many seem to neglect the fact that is written in the instructions to do your set up of the monitor when the battery is completely charged or completely discharged. The shunt monitor does not know what state of charge the battery is in if you set 100% when the battery maybe at somewhere between 0 to 100%

What capacity is your deep cycle Battery ? Renogy monitor settings for battery amp hrs should be set to useable amp hrs ie: AGM can use 50% of total amp hrs. so 100 amp hr battery is set to 50 amp hrs etc. I found this out myself when I set mine up after I contacted Renogy.

Great Video, may i ask what central locking kit you used in canopy and does it integrate with car key or is it a separate remote.

Hey mate, the locking kit is from a mob called canopylocks.com.au (not sponsored). FOB control for it isn't integrated into ute's key, its a self contained mini remote I keep on the same keyring. However, if you wanted it on the same system circuit, you could tap off the door central locking using a relay setup to drive them. Food for thought. Been using this system since 2021 with no issues. Very useful on site to keep my tools locked up without having to lock the canopy handles. Be aware that the locking controller does draw some low current on standby, will suck on the battery a bit if you just park it up for a long time. This is an ERG canopy, so I'm using ' EGR F Kit 1' from those guys for this setup.

When plugged in to shore power, I find that after a few days (fully charged or charging battery??) I push the top right to make the screen dark, but it seems to flash occasionally through the night! Now sure why and would like to find a way to make it stop.

Great video. One question...What side of the shunt does your DC/DC negative out line go to?

So you're always gonna want to connect everything AFTER the shunt. So if your DC/DC is going to chassis ground (i.e bolted to the chassis), then the only connection from chassis ground to your battery (-) is via that shunt.

There’s no ‘L’ in Renogy. 😂
