When I worked at a golf course many years ago, there was a joke that you could always tell who the Golf course superintendent was in your neighbor hood because he had the worst looking lawn and working with grass all day and didn't want to deal with it when they got home.

Very very nice stuff. Finally had 2 days of no rain and managed to verticut the shit out of front lawn for a full renovation! Killed the rear due to too much AMG so starting again with seed! again!

Great vid. I have recently started to do some real dramatic work to my lawn.. which has not had any attention in over 20years other than mowing... grass cut low last dry day.. yesterday did the aeration and scarifying... today, have got some topsoil to start flattening one half that has dipped quite bad and will continue when next dry day.. have all the compost ready for finish.. seeds be here tomorrow (delayed by BH weekend and lack of forward planning by me)... but where I am walking now to spread the topsoil.. it's going like a mudbath though there's a fair bit of grass remaining.. makes me wonder whether I'd be better ripping the lot out and starting afresh... but, I will persevere and see what happens

Thanks for the videos Daniel. Always great to follow as I’m going to aerate, scarify, overseed and top dress my lawn soon. I noticed on one video after scarifying you applied the wetting agent then watered, overseeded, topdressed as you said it’s good for the seed to stick to the soil especially if you have a lot of worm casts. Here you have done it in a different order. Any reason for that?

Just watched this and subscribed I live in Turkey the soil is very fertile but can compact to much because of clay content I’ve just laid new turfs I will fork it a few times a year and in summer will water 3 times a week do you have any other tips thanks Gerry .

Always love watching these lawns you take care of, i recently picked up the greenworks dethatcher with the "verticutter" blades and the tines, i keep my cut at about about 19-22mm, should i do a shorter cut before giving it a run over? Basically gonna be using it to break up the surface to seed some dog wee spots and a old burn pit area that's been mostly scraped away

Good video Dan. I enjoyed watching and learning. There is one thing the viewers should be aware of. Your lawn is perfectly flat, probably from leveling work you did prior to this video. Working on a flat lawn is far easier than a bumpy (unleveled) lawn. Bumpy lawns require a lot more effort when dethaching, raking and spreading compost. Just saying.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video, learned a lot and hoping to put info to good use soon. Maybe I missed it but is there a good time of year to do the renovation? I am in Midwest USA. Also, I've recently read about the invasive jumping worm - a relative of the earthworm. The worm casting and damage in the video caused me alarm. Is this condition with worm issues not unusual? I've never heard of earthworms being a problem.

We all better get used to it, that having a great lawn is continous, yet deeply satisfying, work and not a one weekend project. Looking forward to the other lawns. Especially the Galactic Green one. Hi Dan, great videos as normal!! Out of interest, I know you say in many videos that you try to use what people have in their sheds/homes ect but I've seen a lot of people using the compost spreaders (Cylinder type) do they actually have any benefit regarding spreading? Sieving out rubbish/even spread? (Obviously I use the rear of the rake as you do) more interested in why there is a big hype about them? I just presumed its because its quicker.

Wow, that lawn doesn't look like it needs any work done to it. Beautiful. A question if I may. As the weather has been so cack lately all I managed to do a week ago was put down some ferrous sulphate to kill moss. Now it needs over seeding but also needs weed killer putting down. I think you cannot over seed for 8 weeks after weed killer. So which should I do 1st? Another great video from you Daniel. Thanks again.

Dan, hope you’re well. Now the rain has finally eased in the South East, can finally get onto the lawn for a refurb. Have 70/30, so will scalp / cut short and overseed. Have ordered equilibrium, so can I put that down after the 70/30 with your wetting agent? Or would you just put down the wetting agent and apply Equilibrium once the new seeds are coming through? Also have Galactic Green if you think that’s more suitable?

Never monotonous. Maybe time to host & film a teaching week with half a dozen enthusiasts at a paddock or field somewhere and get them to apply your techniques. At a cost incurred by the punters of course. Don’t think anyone has tried that on RU-vid. Could be good or shit. Anyway all the best pal🍻

What happened to jacks magic not watched one of your videos for a year and now you got new stuff how does it compare?

After watching some earlier videos, I mowed, scarified and raked twice, over seeded and then applied Jack's Magic compost. I'm not sure the seeds are sat in grooves and I struggled to get an even covering of Jack's magic. Is this likely to be a problem or will the compost break down?
