Kylie, you showed the area with the two brown chairs that you want to cover. You mentioned a book shelf. Having a mini library in the entire corner with the two chairs would give another sitting spot plus antique wood shelves with books warms up the atmosphere and also helps with the hollow sound of a big room. The curtain for the door is perfect! Thanks again. So enjoyed this episode as always. Love from Canada.

Kylie, Charlene Bishop’s idea of a mini library filling the entire corner is absolute perfection! Two large, freestanding library bookcases with those two chairs in front of each one, a small table between them, and an antique bronze floor reading lamp would be a lovely way to wile away an hour or two or provide for intimate conversation.

Oh, and BTW Kylie, may I make a coffee table suggestion? the cream sofas seem to be deep and comfy, and it might be a bit hard to put something on the rectangular coffee table if you are lounging. Perhaps in the future, you´d consider a more square coffee table if that´s gonna be the living room layout? something that is closer to each sofa (unless you are planning side tables). I always leave a distance of 50 cm between the table and the sofas so you can walk around and still don't crunch much if you´re sitting and trying to leave a drink on the table (especially if older people will visit often). I love your home, you are making an excellent job!!!!

HI Kylie, a small suggestion about a pantry. Where you have the kitchen now, could be your pantry, leaving you lots of counter space outside to work on. Like you, I never have enough counter space, or oven room. I'm a greek and I love cooking, I understand your frustration trying to work around limited spaces. Not sure with the actual lay out, but as your are walking around, I think the pantry tucked away there with a window with no view anyways but enough natural light can be a contender. Love watching your videos with interesting contents always, in such a gorgeous setting.

I really like the ideas for your new kitchen! But if I may give you a suggestion, you could repurpose the olive pressing machine if the inside wheels could be removed so that you could perhaps add a marble top and use the basin as an isle in your kitchen. As for repurposing the wheels perhaps you could pile them up in your living room to serve as a side table under the glass lamp. I don't really know if these are ideas are feasible, but I wanted to share them! Best of luck!

I absolutely agree. Whilst I love decor you can swap and move as you like, on the walls I'd never "decorate" with "art", but only with actual art and artful objects I've aquired over the years that I cannot live without and that very much speak to me. I see alot of people renovating only to start decorating their walls with poster prints and little framed cutie things just to add interest and really it does just the opposite. One small unique work you want to gaze at four hours is better than five decorative pictures every time.

Another feast for the eyes, and there was even dessert! I’ll certainly try your orange cake at work, the monks will love it! (I cook at an abbey) I rather love the great lamp sitting on the floor, but yes, a table is much better! It’s been a treat watching your beautiful scheme for each room take shape. You wonder about art on the walls in the sitting room. I think some small stone or ceramic pieces, a lovely plate or two, a cherub, low relief grapes, olives, or antique kitchen items. It needn’t be artwork per say. The doorway curtain is perfect and the pan wall is a great idea! Now your parents need to return to enjoy the space once the kitchen is done! Enjoy your Spring plans and planting! 🌞

It took us 11 years to finish our home renovation. We wanted to make sure that we were making the correct decisions and sometimes just didn't know what we wanted enough to move forward. Our kitchen took forever. We redesigned it so many times before we started the construction, but it was worth it. We have a beautiful and satisfying home now that people always comment on being so warm and welcoming and feels like it is original (I'd send pics, but the limitations of RU-vid. Ha!) It really does make a difference to thoughtfully and mindfully progress and not hurry to get it all done right now. Delayed gratification is sooo worth it, you totally DO value the product or end result so much more!. I don't know the layout of the kitchen well enough to understand the space limitations, but is that little kitchen area a possible pantry space? I suggest that you "consider" putting the dishwasher where the current sink is if you cannot find a dishwasher low enough, you could still make the area above it pantry space and the area where the stove is also a possible spot for cupboards for pantry, alternatively you could put the fridge where the stove currently is, or even where the current sink is if it doesn't work in the kitchen. I would not suggest the fridge being across the room. It will get old fast, especially when you need something from it and your in a hurry. You need to think fridge, sink, stove - the work triangle or line. It really does make a difference in your work flow and enjoyment of cooking. we got our kitchen to be an ideal work triangle and EVERYONE loves to cook in my kitchen. :D Good luck!

Oh and totally do put a big bookshelf in that one corner with the chairs. I'd seriously consider re-upholstering them to that soft pink of the antique couch... It would look amazing and tie the two corners together. (I think the light fixture for the columns might be too big, if you do use it I'd only use two in opposite sides (dining room and couch area, otherwise it might be just too busy and detract from the visual shape of the column as you look across the room while eating or sitting in the couch area.)

The curtains are terrific. Amazing. One wall with a large wood bookcase is a really great wall to segment a space without breaking it up. Hello Kylie. I am new to your channel and I am enjoying viewing your lifestyle. I am jealous of all the beauty that surrounds you. Your husband's family farmhouse is such a gem (and your husband is pretty cute too!) Just a few thoughts about your living area. Your sofa arrangement is very nice and I can image large family gatherings filled with love and laughter. I suggest you look for a larger coffee table because the one you have looks too small for the space. Always consider proportions and balance. Art work you love added behind the sofa would add some of your personalty. Think about adding some pillows with texture and look for some beautiful knit throws to add to the sofas in the winter months. Or if you like you can store the throws in a big antique basket. A couple green plants on the window sills would add life to the space. Definitely recover the two chairs with a beautiful woven fabric similar to the drapery. See if you can add casters to the legs so they can me moved around the space when you need additional seating. Turn the space where they currently are situated into your reading area with bookshelves. Get a large upholstered ottoman (also with casters) to place by the chairs so one can put one's feet up while reading. I like your idea for lighting that amazing brick column, but perhaps look for some uprights that are less noticeable. Maybe something round and flat. It may be worth a visit to a lighting store. The light you selected for above the table might be too small. I know you stated that you didn't want a big "statement". but with that size table you don't want it to look too tiny. Maybe save the light you have for over your kitchen table. For your kitchen, can you turn the space by the wall where you of thinking of hanging your pots into a pantry. I'm thinking big cupboards with shelves up to the ceiling, pull-out drawers ,etc. Instead of the table, how about a big island made from reclaimed wood with storage below for all your equipment and a durable, practical surface that's ideal for cooking and cleaning? Maybe add counter stools so your guests can sit and visit while you cook or it can me used as casual dining space when you're not entertaining. My children always liked sitting at the island doing homework or having a snack while I was busy in the kitchen.

Thank you so much. Yes, the south of France is actually a lot closer to my personal taste when it comes to interiors than Italy even. You may be right about the colour but I’ve always had white couches in the different apartments and houses I’ve lived in (with lots of people drinking wine and eating on them) and so far, no trouble. Children are no doubt much harder to control. That said, Guido and I both had fairly strict rules when we were kids. His mother has beautiful antique sofas that seemed to have survived two boisterous boys because they had rules about no feet or children eating on the couch. This was the same with my parents. I actually filmed a whole conversation of us chatting about this and then I thought it might be better to delete it because we’re not parents so people might get angry about the subject of disciplining kids. 🙈

I enjoy your sharing in the transformation of this wonderful property that was so in need of your TLC ! Harmony, that was the word that came to me as well, I think the sofas are beautiful, the rug a good choice for I agree that this room needs the contrast of old and new, a good mix of ages and history, tradition and conversational pieces like this and these! The olive press is so great to see but I would probably want to move it out...I don't know...Regardless, it's going to be a wonderful, wonderful place to live and entertain! I love your films! Thank you for sharing them with us all!

I love the muted, sun kissed vibe in the living room. The small 'column' lights blend in very well methinks. I'd be having edible plants in the old olive press😂. Fabulous! Alla prossima. Auguri! 💜

Wonderful video Kylie.. I love every one of Guido's cameo appearances..There was so much to take in, in content in this segment.. .. I adore the linen sofas.. Adding some earth tone pillows might be cozy and a throw for cuddling up under while reading.. Love the standing lamps.. You have a Masters Good eye for tones and textures and all things beautiful.. That antique rug is spectacular with its aged patina.. and the dusted rose settee is such a nice focal point for the sitting area.. A short end table would be perfect for that area to give some up light to the corner like you said.. .For art ? As a designer, I was tell my clients to live in the space and not rush to fill the spaces..The room will speak to you eventually letting you in on what will works the best for the function and form to help you with the desired feel to that room, that you are hoping to achieve.. In Italy that idea of taking some time works well LOL. Art for that room could be something you and Guido shop for on your visits and trips to different areas.. A suggestion for the books could be sofa table placed behind one of the sofas.. It would be a great place for books to pile up in stacks until you find the right piece for shelving along with the books, adding special pieces of interests in and around the books..Ie: a Vase with beautiful garden flowers, a candle, another lamp, picture frames.?! You do vignettes so well for your tables when cooking.. I am certain you have a knack for groupings of things laying around that beautiful homestead. I love love the fabric curtain for the door way ... I could feel that textiles coloration, weight and stitching all the way from here.. Ha! Maybe you will find some fabric for the two fabulous brown chairs to have slip covers made for them in the same hues as the curtain?... Perhaps a nice woven chenille or same weight embroidered or a cotton twill heavy weighted? I agree about cooking with gas, there is nothing else like it.. They are looking to do away with it here in America. I cringe at the thought.. Ok, , I like the ideas coming from your friends to make the now kitchen nook into a pantry.. I am certain you will end up with everything that makes you happy.. I am praying so both. Anyway, I am looking forward to your garden blooms and more recipes as you go .. The restoration will be a incredible show place once it is complete.. I look forward to visiting with you someday.. I Hoping this virus is over and done with soon.. I want to travel.. It would be my first trip to Italy.. I just learned recently our family lived there in Tuscany for three hundred yrs before coming to Ellis island in NYC, All the Best to my favorite influence r,, Love to you both! Ciao Bella! Cherie

Great idea for the up lights to accent the ceiling columns. The curtain fabric with really add to the coziness of the room. As for hanging art? I’d suggest living with the room a bit before making decisions. It’s really coming together beautifully.

Now I understand why you didn’t show the living room at Christmas. Didn’t realize you weren’t far along. Looks great. LOVE the rug, but you should get a rug pad for it. The pad will feel good/better to be on and it will protect the rug from ground in dirt by heavy feet/shoes that can cut fibers. That’s a rug to treasure. A rug pad is a win win. I would not put the frig too far from the work triangle. And you need a surface close to sit things on from the frig. That kitchen space is certainly challenging. It would not be a waste of time or money to talk to a kitchen planner and at least hear what they say. Maybe one of your fans here could help. For someone who really does like to cook and will use every inch of her kitchen, I think it’s vitally important to get it right. You can disguise many appliances with cabinet fronts too. Or maybe even old door fronts. I can not express enough how important work space layout is a must. It just makes being in the kitchen and cooking even more pleasurable. Can’t wait to see it in progress. ❤️❤️

You both have really made your home special. All your beautiful finds fit perfect in each space, The tapestry curtain material is beautiful and will be like a piece of art when hung. If you decide to hang art around the living room space, you might want to try hanging something vertical or set a four very small floral prints like somewhat of a gallery wall but minimal. I'm so excited to continue seeing progress as it unravels. Many blessing to you both.

Kylie...just a thought.... could you take part of the little kitchen you showed and turn it into your pantry/kitchen storage area...I wasn't able to see the whole kitchen but from what I saw if that is the kitchen it would make a perfect walk in pantry area...I bet you would make it look so cozy and authentic looking :-) Also I love those two rust/brown color chairs....you could put a book shelf wall where you showed us the chairs and perhaps one of the chairs would fit snuggled in that corner area? I love what you're doing with the living room...those sofas are beautiful !!! And the ceiling OH MY how gorgeous is that ceiling!!! Looks like yall have been really busy lately!! The views are unbelievable Kylie 😍seriously a postcard and the greenery with the cypress trees reminds me of so many movies!! “Letters of Juliet”; “under the Tuscan Sun “ one of my favorite ones!!! I know you (and probably Guido) love antiques and historical pieces but that “huge thing with 2 wheels” is an eye sore! Why not remove it and put outside in garden 😳 it takes up so much of that space!! Wow Swedish and Italian and Australian- your children are going to be absolutely GORGEOUS 🤗🥰 beautiful white cream sofas !! That large glass vase should be on a table! Looks odd on floor.

I love seeing everything come together, and your kitchen will be gorgeous! How about placing the refrigerator in the "closet" area out of sight? You can also use this as a pantry as well and it's not as far away. Smaller pictures will look lovely in the living space, and now that you have the curtain, you can try to coordinate throws and decorative pillows for the sofas. The corner with the tub chairs would make an excellent library, so shelves above and books on the cabinet beside, even, would look lovely. Good luck with it all!

Love the sofas! If you call the pink sofa "blush" it will suggest A softer tone! That living room is so gorgeous with the fabulous ceiling, I would keep it simple in there and let the ceiling be the focus. Flowers are all you need. The lamp over the dining table, hmmm, not so sure. I would try to find something less bulky and airy or less obstructive. Love the carpet and drapes for the doorway. Yes to a bookcase, somewhere. Guido is a lucky man. Happy Spring.

I really love what you are planning for the rest of your sitting room. A suggestion would be to hang some smaller pictures in a group above the light of the arc of a lamp? I see jewel tones glowing out! Your two upholstered chairs? Try one with a suitable coloured cushion, and the other a throw, while you are still up in the air about the covers. You may be surprised with the result. I love someone’s idea of the old kitchen being the pantry! Be well, Susan at Hobart.
