For I saw this message, I was thinking that it would benefit someone like me, who is trying to revive his knowledge of the French language, to have English subtitles when you are speaking French. But yes, I had noticed that when you spoke, French, you repeated it in English
Yes, PPE very important. I noticed Ed's PPE as well. Just wish he'd say in the description, what he uses for all his equipment - (Brands and cost). I think his viewers are interested, especially if you are new at it and welcome the instruction as a basis for comparison when setting yourself Up for the first time.
I’m happy to see you have Ceril and Louie helping you. The door looks beautiful, I’m sure Anna will be pleased. This will be an exciting transformation in the making.
Absolutely phenomenal Ed! I am enjoying this as much as I enjoy watching Dan renovate his chateau...great and most excellent skills you have. You and Ana are so blessed to have one another!
I would say Dan is rebuilding.....this is a proper gut and reno. This will be another amazing transformation though too. Love seeing hard working folks like this actually doing the hard work and having so much to show for it!
"The rotten tooth in the smile." 🤣🤣 "Cyril, you could be a dentist." 🤣🤣 Yes, Edd, glad to see Dr. Cyril back working with you. And glad to see you're protecting your back with a brace. Add in Louis and three's a charm.🥰 🥰
Porta Potti, basin, large bottle of water, soap and hand towel. You can transport the Porta Potti home every night to empty and clean and refill the bottle for the next day. Am sure you’ve already thought of this. Great to see the team together.
Go to the camping store and buy a composting toilet. Tarp some privacy in the small back courtyard, or get one of those pop up shower tents to put over it. You can also get a sun-heated shower for some warmish water. Is there any way to reach the back courtyard from the street? Could you get one of those big square portable water tanks to leave in there so you can at least brew some coffee or tea. Aaah, the joys of long-term camping! I haven't done it for years as there is too much to pack in for one person (my age) in cold weather. Cyril and Louis are great help. It's wonderful they are available to help. I have to say that when you all first arrived in your all-black outfits with a crowbar I might have called the police. All you needed were balaclavas! Was Anna filming?
This property is typical of the Bordeaux suburbs, and refered to as an 'échoppe', ie a single story, stone terraced house with generally a (invisible from the street) garden behind. They were economical, light, quickly built properties, fitted to the bad soil conditions of the Bordeaux suburbs.
Thanks Edd for having us along, I thoroughly enjoyed watching and I'm looking forward to seeing how the renovation progresses, if vilnav is anything to go by ,I'm sure it is going to be something special. Exiting times ahead. Xx
Ed was like an excited little kid with a new toy! Nice to see him so excited and a project again to pour all that energy he had into it. Am sure it will be amazing when finished. .😊
Well done Edd and team nice job on the fitting of the door. Plus a nice bit of demolition love it 😁I like the colour of the door ,what a difference already Loved watching. Can not wait to see more, Edd and the handsome helpers🤩😘
Great first day with the entryway door. I'm glad to see that you let Cyril and Louis have some of the demolition fun. Edd, you should reserve your efforts for the critical bits and let the younger lads do the bulk of the grunt work. Save your back, please! Yes, you need a temporary fix for the toilet situation. After all, Anna can only cross her legs so long before the camera starts to shake...lol.
Just need lime mortar around the door now! The one step is perfect! I love the color! Keep the weeds scraped off sidewalk and curb an neighbors will be happy! Good progress! Thank you all for making and sharing this lovely video!😊❤
Yes! Soap, water, hand/shop towels, at least! Omg! His hands! No gloves! After squatters have been there, I wouldn't be happy about touching anything without gloves. Any cuts or injuries could lead to a quick, severe and deadly infection...
Oh Ed! Just when you said your using a chain saw! I thought? You watch he is going to hit a nail or a screw etc. I made the same mistake when sawing of main joists for my decking. I didn’t plan for the angle of huge screws which I caught right next to where they went into the concrete of the pool. One chain ruined. Great to see the work starting mate🙌
How exciting to get started! If you choose, I know you can make the second story window above the door seem like it is part of the door. Sort of a transom concept. Demolition is always fun and challenging!
So excited to see what you and Ceril and Louie to bring this abandoned property that is decaying back to a glorious new life! So important to save and restore history. Awesome sunrise. lol lol that was funny!!! lol It looks scary down there Edd! The door looks so nice! Very solid looking and secure! All the best.
Enjoyed very much. Thought...you could put notes on neighbor's doors apologizing for noise and a link to your vlog so they can watch the reno up close and personal. I am sure they are peeking out their windows already.
I have never seen stone so deteriorated. How old is this building? How will you repair all that stonework, even if it is possible? This will be a very interesting project! I look forward to seeing you work your magic!
That was an excellent start. You hit the ground running. I love the door, great choice. I assume a piece of plywood above to cover the giant hole created when you removed the previous door. I know how quickly you and Cyril work. Welcome back Cyril! Will Louis be working with you throughout the project? This is getting exciting. I can't wait to see it gutted, a clean slate.
The jackhammer and the GAZ thingy is potentially an explosive combination! You are doing a great job and yeah, no doubt the neighbors will be thrilled when that rotten tooth will have been pulled.
Phew! Hanging the front door was, for sure, a cliffhanger! What a clever idea to lower the floor to provide a clear, safe entryway. I enjoyed this episode, thank you.
Edd,Searl, and Louie my construction crew. Very good job of destroying front steps to install new door. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the completed project. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🍺🌞❤️🕊🎃😇🌈🙏🇺🇸🧛♀️👍🌹🕷️🧟♂️
You don't disappoint Edd, my husband was watching this video with me and I told him that you are an Engineer and that you would get that door fitted correctly and voila you did, great job!!!
Have you considered putting a composting toilet back in the basement somewhere where it's fairly private? That way when it needs emptying all you have to do is take it home overnight and empty it and bring it back the next day for use. And you don't need plumbing for that. Just get a big box of handy wipes or a dispenser bottle of hand sanitizer in your room business. Won't be forever but it'll last you until you can get the plumbing fixed so it can work. What are you going to do with this building? From the way you spoke at the beginning it sounds like you're planning on fixing it up to live in. Going to be a long hard jog to get it up to the standards of the Château!! But we all have to start at the beginning somewhere. ❤ 😂🎉
I love hearing French being spoken between Edd and his team. I have been working on improving my French, both before I went on a 3 week vacation in France in September and also since I returned to get ready for my next visit. This is such a great vlog ❤
Very happy to see Cyril back along with Louie. It’s going to be a fun time watching you all bring this building back to life. Thanks for explaining what you all are doing too Edd. Nice looking door and the color is good. Nice door handle too. See you on the next one!
Wonderful start to the renovation & it's really good to see Cyril & Louis helping out...great guys! All the best, really looking forward to seeing the renovations! Take care, stay well! Kathy x
I am just about to finish renovating two 163 year old apartments. Just doing clean work now. At the end of the day - sit down and watch you starting yours. So happy I am past that ;)
Edd, the door looks great. I love the color. It goes well with that stone. It is awesome that you have Louis and Cyril. You are the three musketeers. You three work very well together and have fun doing it. I am happy you are back to building. Stay safe and enjoy the build.❤
I am enjoying hearing you speaking French with the guys, great for me to see what I can translate. I’m impressing myself ☺️ love the door colour. You have lots of work to do, looking forward to witnessing it ❤️also seeing what has been going on in the building while you were installing the door…. Things were flying out the second floor side window!😊
After the incredible job you did at the passion project, I have no doubt that this house is going to be a stunner. Ed, Anna and the team will do your usual magic. Can’t wait to see it. Xx
What a great laugh about kid on scooter! When you said he has a seat in it… I pictured a bicycle seat which I’ve seen on scooters… then you approach and I see one of those folding chairs that were in churches and public buildings in the 60’s. I’m still smiling. Thanks for sharing life in Bordeaux !
Great i really enjoyed that door look great and i love the colour looking forward to following this renovation, great to c u 3 chaps working together xxx
Glad to know for the color of the door and windows. One day an entrepreneur I was working in a project for our house told me that doors and windows of expensives houses are always black. He says the color black look more rich with the stone. Maybe things have change since that?
Have you considered putting ring cameras by the doors to your new build, video evidence if someone is trespassing and surprisingly good quality. Will you be putting a wall or window over the main entrance. I would do a large window so you could see the chandelier in the hallway. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next post.
Hello everyone! So glad to see demolition begin! Edd, any chance you can install a stained glass window or decorative iron scroll work over the quasi-transom window? It would be beautiful to see character put back into this building, especially since it’s on a corner and so visible to pedestrians and autos.
This is my first comment to your channel. I commented at 10:00 minutes I enjoyed the soundtrack to your video. I've hung on to your channel for a while now I think it's been a year since I subscribed. I love you and your wife you guys share a beautiful connection. Greetings to you all from Titusville FL!♥️
Hard hats, eye, ear, hands & lung protection should be (routinely) worn on ALL building sites as a matter of course along with steel insole and toe inserted work boots. Many find the idea incredibly tedious and just want to crack on. But the time taken to don these bits of safety wear is an awful lot quicker (& cheaper) than having to stop a job site where time is money, rush off to hospital for treatment, followed by what is often a prolonged period of recovery at best, and either partial or total loss of function to an injured body part/s with lifelong consequences. Good on you Ed, for taking job site safety seriously. I've frequently encountered the consequences of people not having done so, some of which were relatively lucky, others, sadly, not so much.
Ed the color of the door looks nice. Glad to see that you got it in. Can't wait to see how this project comes out . Good luck on this project. The Mrs to the man in the circle.
