Melbourne is the most liveable city in Australia and cost of living in Melbourne is also affordable as compared to Sydney.
Melbourne rental cost for international students varies according to suburbs. If you are living at a distance from city or Melbourne CBD, then the cost of rent in Melbourne is not high but if you are near Melbourne city, then it can reach to highest rate.
As a student, I will advise to share your accommodation with your friends in Melbourne so that you can divide your living expenses and save money. It is better that 3-4 friends get a place together and start living in sharing so that you can live together and also cook together.
