Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Saturday! Today I'm making over a tiny condo bedroom into a dark and moody, cozy haven. This bedroom is under 100 sq ft, but requires a workspace, extra clothing storage and tons of style - not to mention everything has to be renter-friendly! I hope you love this makeover!

Graham is a real treasure. I think many of your best ideas would be scarey to many, and he just dives in and makes it all work! The wall paper really takes it all up a few notcher. Great choice fir the space.

There's a technique I did years ago where I bought some pretty lightweight fabric and soaked it in liquid starch, rung it out and put it up on the wall, smoothing it out with the tool like you'd use for wallpaper. When it's time to remove it you just pull on a corner and it pulls away nice and clean. All you have to do is wipe down the wall with a sponge after. Edit: I forgot to add the best fabric to use is cotton, from what I remember. From calicos to textures, just not too heavy.

I saw on another channel wallpapering poster board then stick poster board to wall. Any wall paper can be used then.

Old technique used in the 60's and is great for using sheeting also...or fabric found at resale or 2nd hand stores...however the results of this makeover is the Best 😘🥰 great Collab between Alexander & Her Very 💯% crafty... Handy Man 👞♂️🥳 You guys are making studios 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🥳💗💗💗💗

i would so love love LOVE if you guys would makeover a bedroom room that doesn’t have a lot of natural light!! i feel like i can speak for many people when i say that it’s so difficult to make a bedroom feel like a cozy when there’s no light coming through the window. i don’t think team AG has ever done a darker room before, so it would be a challenge, and SO helpful to so many people!!! love this makeover, it’s absolutely stunning ✨

It was cute & definitely an upgrade from what he had. The hanging rack was a lovely idea & his clothes were very elegant. The closest itself needed an Ikea hack: cubby holes & drawers on the right, 2 roll bars on the left, with shoe pull out drawers behind it all. To me, your solutions were charming & really spoke to his personality. -- In the future, this tiny sized room would have been the perfect space for your Murphy Bed/Couch hack. Then you could have painted the bed cabinet. You could have used an industrial paint, textured paint (with sand) or chalkboard paint (for meeting fun messages). Then he would have been able to do his morning meeting from the couch! Oh, & if you haven’t seen it, Home Depot has a telescope Murphy bed that looks about the size of a fireplace/Full size mattress & he could have had a yummy “date night” room during the evening.

Painters tape DOES peel the paint when stuck on the wall for long periods of time.. I guarantee removal will not be clean.

Like this makeover with the dark and moody vibe (i.e., the brown in particular). Highlights IMO: Curtain rods, drop leaf table, shelves, clothing rack, bedside lamp, cushions, desk chair, and of course, the bed headboard!

Love the room, but I think the window could have had frosted removable plastic window sticker to give privacy but still let light in. Done in my home and it was cheap and effective!

Job well done. I'm not a fan of white on white, or white walls, so I would have suggested the curtains have a bit of colour to stand out against the walls.

Hey Alexandra!!Love love love your work!!!So I noticed you dropped the screws....so I saw a hack for that.Put a piece of drinking straw over the screwdriver in front ..the screw will be secure in the front..nowhere to go until its screwed in. :)Hope it helps.Keep up the good work!From Cape Town South Africa.

Really really really good job on this make over though AG. Very difficult space and now it is super luxurious. It changes the vibe sooo much. It went from I live like this in a tiny bedroom because it’s the only choice I have to I live this way because I am lucky enough to live in a vibrant city and I am a vibrant person.

Mirror tape . My maintenance man told me if you want to stick things on walls and not fall and is renter friendly. I haven't watched the whole video yet so eager to see if you succeed this time.

-central Wisconsin: FYI, here’s a GREAT clothes closet hack to make more space, ESPECIALLY if you don’t have long hanging items (ie, dresses or coats) -so just if you need shirt & pant hanging space. Raise top shelf and bar in closet UP. You’ll need to put in new side and back wall 2x4 supports, then ADD a new 2nd bar below (under were clothes on top bar would hang). Now you have 2 hanging rods for clothes, and any storage space lost (ie., original height from top shelf storage, and original floor storage, can be made up in closed storage unit(s) in the room (ie, dresser, a trunk, bench with storage compartment under seat, hanging shelf with doors, etc.). Of course, always optimize storage under a bed (totes & pull out drawers). Beds can also be raised up using bed cones in each corner of the bed. Bed frame feet then rest o the cones. This not only can just raised up a bed, but it can give you that so needed added space height under the bed, to put storage there. Plus, if bed cones don’t give you quit enough space below the bed that you need, simply stack another cone on each of the 4 cones you already have down in the frame corners. Bingo, now you have just that little extra height you need (if 1-cone in each corner was not enough) bed height. So now your hanging clothes are out of site in the closet (and you have 2-hanging rods instead of the standard 1-rod, AND your smaller items that use to be stored in closet (shelf items and flor stored items, they are now stored elsewhere in the room. QUESTION: Why did you simply not drill a small hole in back of wood shelf on side of bed, and from there cord/extension cord could run down side of bed, then under bed along headboard wall, to the outlet by the window? I ask, because running the extension cored now on top of bed/behind mattress, will just get in the way, especially when remaking the bed when you wash bed linens. Plus, if you have a flippable mattress that you need to rotate & also flip over from time to time, (to help keep even wearing of mattress), that current extension cord is again going to get in the way (and be a pain to deal with).
