Ive been out there for over 30 plus years myself. The fact that these guys are still doing it and didn't quit ! Doing a respectable job of keeping Rock & Roll Alive ! Enjoy it while you can People ! ROCK & ROLL
Dave nailed the KOYL solo about a week ago in Kansas City. .Note for note. It was the only note for note solo he played all night! He doesn't need to play note for notes though. He plays his interpretation, so you get Dave being Dave! And I love it!
for everyone bashing KC... Have you ever met the man? Arrogant is not a word that comes to mind. Remember Richrath (who was brilliant) wasn't fired. He chose to leave us. Ive been partying with "this" band for 24 years. You should come join.
I think the guy is a great musician and front man just talks way too much before most songs. I know its production but GEEZZZZZZZZZZZ it gets old. They rock thats for sure. They have always been one of my favorites.
Well for me REO Speedwagon is a Great band and I would love to see them live one more time , before I am dead ! To me they rock on just like any other bands that have lasted as long as they have . Members of the band might change , but they still rock on . I know at 60 plus years old these guys kick some ass !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing wrong in this video.Dave the man Amato is the man, right here, right now.Man this sounds like the old Speedwagon & in front of 35,000 people Rock on guys Rock on.
Well spoken!! I'm a HUGE Gary Richrath fan, and like you, I'm a guitar player as well and respect both Gary & Dave. Even being a Gary fan, I purchased the video of his last show with the band: Hawaii, on the "Hits" tour, and he wasn't playing well, unfortunately. He came in early for the solo on "Keep on Loving You," for example, and it ruined the tune. Hopefully he has conquered his "demons" and is enjoying life & the rewards of sobriety...
This concert is as good as any of them they have done. These guys have been touring for years. Times change, voices change, etc. Gary was a great musician but he made the choice to not sober up..deal with the changes. Still a great band
I seen them live at Oklahoma state fair grand stand around 1989,they got rained out and when they pulled the bus across the dirt track on black top to unhook the chain , I was only dud standing there looking up through front window of bus..til this day know one still don’t believe that story. I had to do security at the arena that night which another music hero was playing (Merl Haggard) got my parents in for free..🤷🏻♂️My biggest hero was GARY 🎸R.I.P.sir
Dave is truly an excellent player. However, I really don't understand how, after 20-plus years, he can't nail the KOLY solo. Just watch Gary do it from the '85 Kansas City Kemper Arena show that is here on RU-vid; it's almost as emotional as on the album.
Gary Richrath was my all time favorite guitar player. Shortly after his departure from REO, He came to Waterloo, IA & played a small club. My friend and I stopped in the place earlier in the afternoon to check it out, and Gary was walking, and going out the door as we were just going in. Got to visit a minute, get his autograph, it was pretty kewl memory. BTW, He fuckin rocked that place that nite. It was just a bar with a med stage. Gary was the best
One thing: Dave has been around longer than gary and plus gary was the one that left so REO can do what ever they want with his songs and he plays songs that Kevin wrote so yeah
I don't even know what you're talking about but send another message and try to explain mor Joo OK Google Black Oak Arkansas live when electricitycame to Arkansas play now
Lol Sorry Kevin old man but the ONLY one in REO that recorded this song in 1972 was Neil on the keyboards!! For those who don't know what I am talking about - Kevin (lead singer) was not a member of REO when this song was originally recorded the bass player, the lead guitar player and the drummer were all original members of REO who have either passed on (RIP Gary, Lead guitar) or got fed up with Kevin trying to make REO a chick band. Now I will say this - REO is as famous today as they are because of where Kevin took them!! It was HIS songs that were the number one hits, myself though, I prefer the old REO, the one that could rock the house all night long!!
Actually you are WRONG! KC joined in 1972 and recorded the T.W.O. Album with the band. He then was fired only to return for good in 1976. He was with the band for every hit that made the charts. He actually recorded Ridin the storm Out with the band before being fired in 1973 and mike murphy was hired before the album was released. If you are going to say something make sure its right
Dave...... and just to be a real REO fan.... ok...... but..... GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY GARY....
It doesn't "suck". It's pleasant. It's serviceable. It's completely adequate. If you want Gary, the 1976 version is on YT, and so is the 1979. And there's the live album. It's not Dave Amato's fault he's not awesome. If every guitarist was as good as Gary, we wouldn't be able to recognize greatness when we saw it. (Hell, the fools who keep leaving Gary out of their "Greatest Guitarists" lists STILL can't see it, for that matter.) As for Kevin, I just enjoy him as a comedy act, tbh.
