JAJ, here is the live, Midnight Special performance of "Roll w/ the Changes". Great quality and performance. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eGgLPriZUSA.html
My old man literally went airborne in a ford ranger over railroad tracks, taking me to a little league football game when I was little and guess what was playing in the background hahaha
If Kevin Cronin knew about this he would definitely reach out. Kevin Cronin is just one of the nicest guys in rock music and still going strong today as soon as the pandemic is over. Actually he does Camp Cronin every week on RU-vid.
I REALLY like that cowbell, yup, needs more cowbell, Jamel needs to get him a cowbell to clang along . Even if there's no cowbell in the song cause it just needs some more cowbell!
If every artist could see the joy, energy, and respect you bring to their music then nobody would ever block you! Thank you for always keeping everything positive!
REO is one of those bands you rock out to when you're hanging with your friends. This is definitely one of the bands you have in the rotation at a cookout or a party. Jamel, you pick some great music to react to. Keep rockin' and keep great music alive.
I'll be honest - I was waiting for this one!! My all-time favorite REO song, and genuitely believe it's one of the best (and dangerous) driving songs. :)
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. The energy this song exudes is off the charts. Every instrument is on point, as is Kevin's vocals. Love this.
In times like these, songs like Roll With The Changes and Feelin Stronger Everyday by Chicago are still very relevant and applicable to this strange year of 2020. Hopefully better times are ahead.
OH YES STYX......."Grand Illusion" "Renegade" any of these."Come Sail Away" will be played at my funeral. "Too much Time on My Hands" I could go on and on.
Besides hearing great music again, one of the best things about this channel is knowing what's coming and realizing Jamel has no idea what he's about to hear.
The smile on Jamel's face throughout most of the song says it all about his reaction to the song, no words needed. I thought of another REO song while watching this, Tough Guys. Tough Guys has some of the best/funniest lyrics ever written.
I remember when I first heard this song on the radio back in the day. It was first REO song that I had heard and is still my favorite!! Also my favorite album of theirs!! You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish!!
Absolutely, positively and without a doubt, "Golden Country" on the double live album, "You Get What You Play For," is my all-time favorite REO recording. The lyrics and the music span the years and are so relevant today.
AHH! YES! REO is one of those bands that have so many great songs that it's hard to pick a favorite. This one, however, really is one of my very favorites by them! Great song!
One of the most under-rated bands. They make such wonderful records. Critics treat them like some kind of bubble gum music studio band. If this is on in your car, better watch your foot on the accelerator!
My favorite REO song. It's been with me every time my life has changed, for better or worse. It's cathartic to me, and helps me let go of whatever attachment I'm feeling for whatever came before. Thank you very much for covering it, Jamel!
Awesome reaction! REO SPEEDWAGON is one of my favorite bands out of the 70s( best decade ever). they used to come to town often or somewhere near me, but not so much lately. I've saw them several times in the 70s and would definitely pay to go see them again. hard to believe they've been playing rock and roll for 50 years and still going strong!
I'm 65 years old and listened to and played rock and roll for over 50 years... certain songs like this one can trigger so much emotion in me personally... thank you so much for listening and appreciating this performance with me....that band, this song, pure perfection... Top Ten All Time! yep and Amen.
What an anthem! This song came out when I was a teenager, and I'm almost 60. I can honestly say it has always been one of my top 5 favorite songs and I still listen to it regularly.
The lead guitarist, Gary Richrath (RIP) was a great player and underrated. He is often overlooked. If you want to hear his ability, listen to "The Flying Turkey Trot" from their first live album, "Live: You Get What You Play For!" This was released in 1977, before REO mellowed out some and began releasing lighter songs that Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) wrote. Gary Richrath ended up quitting the band in 1989 over artistic differences.
This came out when I was in HS. To this day it is my all time favorite song - enjoyed watching you enjoy this song. We need more songs like this today that lifts your spirit and just make you feel good!
Here is a fun story about Kevin Cronin. We are from the same suburb in Chicago (Oak Lawn). When my dad was young he had a band and as everyone would say, "little Kevin Cronin" would come hang over the back fence and say, teach me how to play guitar! So my dad and his band would kind of laugh (not in a mean way, it's just that KC was so insistent). So "little Kevin" would hang out and learn how to play guitar. Yrs later my dad's band got an amazing record contract, but because they fought so bad between themselves they blew it. But a lot of great bands came out of the Chicago area around that time, REO, Styx, Cheap Trick. Years later after REO had made it big, Kevin always came back for Oak Lawn days, rode in the parade and was always very good to the community.
I was born in 1960 and my husband of 43 years that I've known all my life grew up on all the great music of the 70's, 80's and the 1990's I raised our 4 children with music from morning until bed.there were so many greats back than and I took my kids to concerts and told them everything not only about the music but the bands and their history, my oldest daughter who is now 42 text me and said thank you mom for introducing me to the best music ever.
@@jamesfletcher3651 You're more than welcome. Been there, done that myself. It's definitely tough if you have a kid especially. Hang in there and keep your head up.
Several have said it, but when that Hammond B3 organ hits, it's like a church organ, and the "Keep on Rollin/Keep on Rollin" sounds like a church choir. But it has the absolutely amazing Les Paul that sounds like the strings are on fire. One of REO's best songs.
There are an increasing number of these “appreciation” videos. Some are really good, others not so much. Yours is the best, in my opinion. I really enjoy them. Well done. Thanks.👍
You putting up so many great videos today and every day...us enjoying your dancing, your reactions.....THAT is why you've gathered another 1000 subscribers!! It was reading 538K yesterday...look at it now! TY, sir!
Love REO, one of my favorite bands of all time! Maybe just a suggestion another band from this era STYX, I know you have done a few of their songs but their library is extensive. I would love to see reactions to The Best of Times, Too Much Time on My Hands well really any of their stuff is great! 🎤🎶🎹🎶
Man!! When we were listening to this song in high school (1978) we didn't have a care in the world and look where we are NOW and everything we've been through! But we STILL just gotta keep on rollin' and Turn Some Pages!! My high school boyfriend lost both his wife and his son to heroin and that's just ONE of the sad friend stories.
Jamel...Welcome to every summer of the 1980's! REO was an amazing band to watch live, and were always on our summer concert list! So many great memories seeing them live at Red Rocks outside of Denver. Memories of great times, and of friends who are no longer with us. This song brings goosebumps for the performance, and tears remembering my friends. Thanks for taking me back...
Kevin Cronan on vocals and piano alongside Gary Richrath on lead guitar this band was heaven. This is my favorite song by REO Speedwagon. This is the one and only song from my teenage years that I actually blast the radio when it comes on. My all-time favorite and it broke my heart when Gary split with the band. The feeling he put into his guitar work hits me right in my soul now as it did back then.
DOG! Thank u so much for rockin this song I've requested more than a few times. What a scintillating rocker! So happy you liked what I've loved for decades now. There are about 10-15 songs I will never tire of, and this is one. No breaks necessary. I hear it now, and it is just as fresh as my first listen way back when.
REO has always had a great sound.just like their contempraries Journey and Foreigner...havent heard ya hit Scorpions yet ! might a suggest No One Like You - Scorpions..xoxo
I can and have listened to this song multiple times in a row in the car on the highway for many years and it never gets old. Listening to it with Jamel is like listening to it for the first time. His reaction makes you feel so good, he should bottle it and sell it. As someone that suffers from major depression, to sit here, listening and smiling with Jamel's reactions, I am grateful for him. Jamel, you are an amazing blessing my friend. Never change.
'Loved watching your reaction to Roll With The Changes! '60 yr old white dude here. 'Have seen REO perform this song live multiple times. This song is quietly becoming my all-time favorite...well, maybe, 2nd to...can't even say it (Southern Rock 'N Roll Respect...about stairways...I am a one-time, public school teacher of Little Lee). My insight into music is mainly from a guy noted in Appetite For Dysfunction, by Vicky Hamilton...who attributes her knowledge from this guy as well. In other words...love this song...love your reaction. Why is our country falling apart?...find this one...The Monkey's Michael Nesmith - Cruisin'
I know it wasn't released as a single, but my favorite song by REO Speedwagon was, is, and always will be Wish You Were Here from their Hi Infidelity album.
Deen Castronovo sang it just as well, AND played drums at the same time. It's a shame he had "issues" but I'm glad he is sober now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--gomgFZsG-0.html
I'm smiling the entire time watching 👀 ☺ your reaction. REO was my obsession during middle school and high school. Class of 85. Saw them and Journey, of course, live back in the day.
I have always loved this song, great message, lyrics, instrumentals, arrangements... I am still amazed with Kevin's vocals...I can't imagine all written into the score...unique and impressive...sounds so good, great energy!!!
In 1979 I was a Senior on my Highschool baseball team that won the Ohio Class "A" state baseball championship. I have always connected this song with that time in my life, as we were the first sports team of any kind in our county to win a state championship. We DID roll with the changes! Great Memories... great song... great era of music
REO, You Do You! I've seen women who cross their legs before they sit down to the table, and I've seen women who look to the sky screamin lord I believe in the Bible
In case no one has posted it, REO Speedwagon was actually a vehicle. R.E.O. stands from Ransom Eli Olds, an American automotive industry pioneer who invented the assembly line and after whom the brands REO and Oldsmobile were named.
I just stumbled onto Jamal doin an REO search. I'm not able to stop smiling and singin along to the best song ever! Watchin this dude's natural and genuine appreciation and love of this song was inspiring!
